General Sessions

Content of Frontier 3.2 Come see a high-level overview of the new functionality to be released in Frontier 3.2. We’ll review the new features and how to take advantage of this functionality to help you with cost reductions and/or increased efficiencies. This session will be offered twice.

Beyond Frontier 3.2 – A Vision for the Future Join Friedman product managers and key development resources in this interactive focus group-style discussion blending Friedman’s vision of the “Future Frontier” with yours. This session will be offered twice.

Frontier Content by Release – 2.2 through 3.2 Over 6 years ago, Friedman Corporation released version 2.2. This was a big enhancement with tons of features, functions and enhanced capabilities. As we roll further into 2013, there are still a large number of client that are staying on older releases and not upgrading. Additionally, we have discovered that a number of clients on more current releases don’t know the new capabilities that have been added to the product. To help motivate the hesitant and educate the interested we will present a high level overview of all the new features added to the product since 2.1.

Managing by Exception Using Event Notification In a perfect world, all data is clean and all workflows apply to every situation. Unfortunately, you do business in the real world, come see how to minimize surprises to your business when things aren’t perfect by catching problems sooner rather than later.

Benefits of the Functionality of the New User Interface Implementation of the browser screens for running Frontier affords more benefits than just pretty screens. With the power and flexibility of Frontier’s browser, non-technical users can define and configure screens to match the work flow and process steps specific to your operation and management vision. During this session we will show you examples of custom screens configured for specific work-flows and events while discussing the features and benefits of this technology.

Enhanced use of Frontier iInquiry iInquiry is more than just a sales order inquiry tool. In this session, we will look at ways iInquiry can be used to investigate the data, export for reports, and other features you may not have seen before.

Using Frontier Security to Secure Your Data and Your Processes Frontier Security offers a wide range of features to allow you to secure functionality in Frontier. Frontier’s UI applications take it even further allowing you to create views to determine what your users can see and do. This session will review the use of Frontier Security and will cover all Frontier UI application roles and views as well as customizing menus.

How to Get (and Stay) Current on Frontier Discover some best practices and lessons learned while helping longtime Friedman customers migrate from “green screen” to the Graphical User Interface – from the collective standpoints of IT support, Product Configuration Management, and the end user; tactics to leverage the flexibility of the newer technology on order to minimize custom programming ownership costs will also be discussed.

Manufacturing

Forecasting for Make-To-Order Manufacturers

Are you finding that you’re running out of inventory or safety stock is providing too much? Look to Frontier’s other options that provide visibility and notification to help you manage sufficient inventory for components of configured products. This session will focus on forecasting as well as other options to help minimize the risk of not having that material when orders are entered.

Tracking the Production Floor – Part 1

Whether you have built to stock products or highly configured custom products made only as ordered, Frontier’s manufacturing applications will help you monitor and track progress on the production floor. In this first session, we will view the production process at a high level and start looking at the details of that process by first focusing on setup considerations in Advanced Manufacturing Execution (AME).

Session Preview

(Sessions are not finalized and are subject to change)

Impact of Order Promising on Manufacturing In today’s competitive market, meeting client requirements and shipping products on time is more critical than it ever has been. This session will demonstrate how the tools within Frontier and the Order Promising functionality can assist with meeting these requirements.

Material Planning and Execution Your product has a very extensive life cycle. You buy raw material, you use it in production, you create finished goods, and hopefully you sell your products to your customers. What does it take to monitor material effectively? This session will look at the features

and functionalities within Frontier 3.1 to assist your organization with the material transformation process. We will discuss the tools and processes you use along the way to meet on time shipment of your products to your customers.

CADFlow for Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) refers to the use of numerical control (NC) computer software applications to create detailed instructions (G-code) that drive computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools for manufacturing parts. This session will explore how CADFlow and Inventor are used to produce the G-code that machines configure-to-order parts. Featured will be the actual experience of 2 existing CADFlow customers that have this process in production.

Configuration Data on Planned Products iSchedule, AME, APE and many other products are used to manage activities for both configured and non-configured products. Detailed attribute data can be presented in these applications for configured product, but non-configured items were always restricted to the information from the item master and item segment files. Now with SCOPE, you can extend configuration attribute data into stock parts and use data that to support more effective use of these applications as well as extend the dataset of information of a stock item.

Controlling and Tracking Rework and Returns In this session we will review the best practices for utilizing manufacturing rework and purchasing returns. It will include the flow of products that are found to be defective and how to best utilize Frontier’s tools to manage the process and inventory.

PCM

Configuring to Maximize the New User Interface – Part 1 Configuration in the new user interfaced has been enhanced significantly since its first release. These normalized values can then be used as analysis tools for customers as well as senior management. No longer does the user or customer need to translate your unintelligible abbreviated configuration codes into comprehensible English! The Datalayer will do this for you.

CADFlow for Engineer-To-Order Processing CADFlow significantly enhances Configure-to-Order processing, but it offers even greater benefits for Engineer-to-Order Processing. This session will include live demonstrations on how CADFlow supports custom “one-off” product configuration as well as purely engineered to order products. This includes design using AutoDesk Inventor, order entry, automatic BOM generation, and product visualization on the shop floor.

CADFlow for Configuration Maintaining PCM conditions, formulas, and matrices, keeping them synchronized with the current product design, can be a costly, error-prone process. This session will be an in-depth discussion of how configuration rules and calculations can be implemented in Inventor digital models using parametric designs and iLogic, and explain the many advantages. It will also discuss using Frontier PCM rules in combination with the Inventor models.

PCM Workbench The PCM Workbench is designed to inquire and maintain configuration information such as segments, options, rules, matrices, pricing and manufacturing information. This session will
