The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) of 2010 made sweeping changes to the nation’s healthcare system. Washington State is a national leader in developing a state-based Health Insurance Exchange that aims to make health insurance coverage more accessible and affordable for individuals, families, and the owners of small businesses. This presentation will summarize key provisions in Washington’s 2013 legislative development on Health Insurance Exchanges and related issues such as Medicaid Expansion and a Federal Basic Health Option. This presentation should also address implications regarding provider access, care delivery, and insurance reforms.
