For financial aid purposes, summer sessions are considered a trailer – the last term of the 2013-2014 academic year. Because summer sessions are considered a trailer, aid received during the 2013-2014 academic year will be considered in determining remaining financial aid eligibility for the 2014 summer session terms. Because grant funds are extremely limited for summer sessions, financial aid is usually in the form of student and/or parent loans. Students who have already borrowed their maximum annual or aggregate Federal Direct Student Loan limits prior to summer 2014 are ineligible to receive a Federal Direct Student Loan for the 2014 summer session terms.

In addition to the restrictions named above, you must meet the eligibility requirements listed below. Please read the following eligibility requirements before completing this application. To be eligible to receive financial aid for summer sessions: • Undergrads must enroll in at least 6 credit hours and graduate students must enroll in at least 5 credit hours

between the two sessions. • If you have met your degree requirements, you are ineligible to receive financial aid unless you are accepted into a new

degree program. • You must be making satisfactory academic progress (SAP) in accordance with University policy. • Understand that if your ENROLLMENT IS FOR MORE THAN ONE TERM, one-half of the loan proceeds are

disbursed per term. • You must meet all general eligibility requirements as disclosed in the U.S. Department of Education Student Guide, which

may be found online at the following website: http://studentaid.ed.gov/sites/default/files/2013-14-funding-your-education.pdf

• You must complete a Summer Sessions Change Request form and submit it to the financial aid office if your enrollment changes and you want your aid adjusted before the summer drop/add period ends. This form can be found at www.financialaid.appstate.edu.
