I am excited to present the Fifth Annual Texas Wagyu Breeders Sale. It is hard to believe how far we have all come in the last five years. This will be the biggest sale to date proudly offering over one hundred lots. The sale has not only grown in quantity, but in quality and notoriety as well.

Cattle demand remains high in the United States and beyond as our nations cow herd is at its lowest level since the 1950’s. As cattle and beef prices rise due to our inventory situation, the consumer is going to demand a higher quality more consistent product. The Wagyu Breed is uniquely positioned to meet the demand by offering a well marbled consistent cut of beef. The high quality beef coupled with the built in calving ease makes Wagyu a perfect cross on today’s commercial cow herd as well.

LTR Ms Yakiyasu is an open heifer from some of the most respected bloodlines from some of the best Wagyu breeders in the World. Looking back into her pedigree, on the top side, Sire is LTR Yakitomichi 766T-0478, (FB11441), you also will find names like World K’s Yasafuku Jr. (FB5061), World K’s Takazarkura (FB5269), BR Itomichi 1/ 2 (FB2126), and Hirashigetayasu J2351 (FB670). We acquired the sire when we purchased a bred cow from Lone Mountain Ranch in New Mexico, and have used him quite often with great results. The bottom side is equally impressive with names appearing like Suzatani (FB1617), World K’s Huruki 2 (FB1614), as well as Monjiro 11550 (FB 201). In the Fall of 2013, the livestock industry lost a friend and pio-neer, T.J. Peters. T.J. was constantly trying to improve the Cat-tle business by using new genetics, cattle and ideas to develop a problem free cow that would consistently produce the finest beef. He used the Wagyu influence to improve the marbling in his commercial cross cattle that included Tuli and Angus. T.J. was truly a forward thinker.

More than all of that, T.J. was a friend. I knew T.J. for over 20 years, and I can never remember seeing him with anything other than a smile on his face. If you had ever met him, he was your friend as well. If you needed a laugh, T.J. could handle that.

The cattle featured here are the results of T.J.’s efforts to produce high marbling, high quality cattle. They are stout and functional cattle that will mesh with any progressive Wagyu Herd. The calves at side and the calves that they are carrying are what T.J. was striving for. They are sired by a TAngus Bull (5/8 Angus and 3/8 Tuli). If it’s one thing the U.S. Wagyu herd needs, it’s a broader genetic base. With a half Kumamoto and half Fujiyoshi pedigree, here’s an excellent donor prospect to help do just that. He is a male calf of Aino 6, a notable fact given that 100% of the carcass (17 of 17 cattle slaughtered) from the Aino group graded A-5, the highest grade possible. 1012X’s dam is CF505, a daughter of TF148 Itoshigenami over an Itomichi sired daughter. TF148 has the highest pertcentage of Kumanami line genetics outside of Japan having a double cross of Shigekanenami on his sire side plus another line through his maternal grandsire. Donor is our super cow #10, whose embryos were the top sellers in the 2013 sale. She ranks high in our herd for strength, depth, and muscling. Her sire, Takeda’s Itoshigenami 148, is the only foundation bull from the famous “Nami” line, which some breeders regard as the best Tajima sub-strain due to the fineness of the marbling and meat texture. The sire of these embryos is our impressive black Rue-shaw son, #65, half-brother to the #1 marbling Wagyu (an astonishing Avg. Prime) & Grand Champion Red Bull at the 2014 Houston Livestock Show. His pedigree blends the rare genetics of his Japanese National Red Champion sire with stellar carcass quality in his dam’s lineage, which includes Sanjirou and Kitateruyasudoi. With a balance of 50% Tajima, 31% Kumamoto red, & 19% Fujiyoshi genetics, there was a low (1%) inbreeding coefficient in this mating. The highly desirable traits from these bloodlines and the superb conformation of the sire and dam will produce top quality females. One can expect excellent marbling plus above average milk, frame, and growth. Free of genetic disorders. Note: Semen sorting is 90% accurate.
