Dear friends of girl scouts:our founder, Juliette Gordon low, once said,

“To put yourself in another’s place requires real imagination, but by doing so, each Girl Scout will be able to love among others happily”. Yes, to love among others happily: that is truly what we want for girls across Southern arizona, in the united States, and around the World. Your investment in girls allows them to participate in a sisterhood that builds the foundation to walk and live and love in another’s shoes.

as I reflect on the past year, Juliette’s words resonate with me for many reasons. In 2015, Girl Scouts built strong relationships that will last a lifetime. they did this by taking action in the community, by going to camp, by traveling around the world and by being a sister to every Girl Scout. our girls built wells in africa, fed homeless people, made the isolated elderly feel loved, worked to protect the desert, and raised critical funds to purchase supplies for the organizations they care most about. they did this while having fun, learning important life skills, and taking risks to step out of their comfort zone and try new things.

Your investment allowed thousands of girls to become Girl Scouts who would have never had the opportunity. Your investment gave college women jobs to lead some of our most vulnerable girls. Your investment provided the resources to train volunteers to effectively work with girls and mentor them through the Girl Scout leadership experience. Your investment in girls trained camp counselors to engage girls in the great outdoors. Your investment in girls provides thousands of volunteer hours. Your investment in girls sent girls on explorations from the Grand Canyon to the eiffel tower.

Your investment in girls has brought us closer to building “a place for Girls” and honoring the memory of great Girl Scouts like Christine Mcnamara and Doris riehm.

Your investment in girls is helping them thrive in what can be a pretty tough world to grow up in.

For all that you do and all that you invest—thank you.

on My Honor,
