Deutscher Kältepreis 2009 + 2012
German Federal Ministry for the Environment:
”Highly efficient cooling system“
Business activities: • Development • Production • Sales • System engineering • R&D
• Founded in 2006 • Headquarters in Berlin, Germany • 2 production sites in Germany

• High electrical power consumption • High cooling demand • High energy & maintenance cost to
provide cooling • Long running hours
Ideal conditions for InvenSor
adsorption chillers! • Low electrical power consumption • Low maintenance cost • Short return of invest times
Why InvenSor for the plastic processing industries?
www.invensor.com
Adsorption chillers in different capacity sizes • 10-300 kW cooling capacity • Highly energy-efficient: EER = 33 (LTC 30 e plus) • Driven by waste heat at 60-100ºC • Dry recooling is possible • Water as an environmentally-friendly refrigerant (R 718), ODP=0, GWP=0 • Adsorption unit maintenance-free • Silent operation

Adsorption Chillers LTC and HTC
LTC 10 / 30 / 90 kW Low Temperature Chiller from 60ºC driving temperature (heat source) HTC 18 kW High Temperature Chiller >40ºC ambient temperature (dry recooling) 80ºC driving temperature (heat source)
• Built-in system controller in every chiller: all parameters adjustable • Hydraulic pumps included in chillers • All chillers prepared for online access • “ActiVac“ - automatic vacuum pressure optimization • High Efficiency mode (COP > 0.7)

ADsorption & ABsorption – Difference?
Adsorption Technology (liquid/solid) • Temperatures from 60°C can be used
Lower return flow temp. ideal for CHP • Robust technology: no turning off, no
crystallization, no corrosion • Dry recooling, low maintenance • Simple system design and installation • Compact unit incl. pumps, controlling, etc.
Absorption Technology (liquid/liquid) • Typically above 80ºC needed
High capacity losses at lower driving temperatures
• Crystallization risk: potential turn-off • Wet recooling: water treatment, hygiene
(legionella) • High maintenance needs of chiller (ie.
corrosion)
High design and maintenance efforts justified only for large capacity range
Plug & play systems with a stable performance

Tri-generation
When is Tri-generation a feasible option?
• Price for electricity (€/kWh) ≥ 3 x price for natural gas (€/kWh)
Additional benefits: • Replacing electrically driven chillers (refrigerants) • On-site generation of electricity • Reducing electrical peak loads • Free Cooling option • Future-proof refrigerant (R 718), ODP=0, GWP=0 • Reduced carbon footprint • National / local subsidies (i.e. 25% on invest in Germany, Bafa)

Air Compressors as Heat Source
Air compressors are major electrical power consumers
• 94% of the energy may be recovered as heat
• This heat may be used to drive InvenSor chillers
