FILE FORMATS Adobe Acrobat High Resolution PDF File
Adobe InDesign CS2 or higher
Adobe Photoshop
ADOBE ACROBAT HIGH RESOLUTION PDF FILE:
When exporting/saving to PDF from
InDesign, Illustrator, Quark and Photoshop
save using ‘Press Quality’ settings to create
High Resolution PDFs.
ADOBE INDESIGN CS2 OR HIGHER:
o Include ALL fonts and images along with
ad submission.
o Packaging typically does this well. To
ensure fonts reproduce properly, it is
recommended to ‘Select All’ text from
the Edit Menu and ‘Create Outlines’
from the Type menu.
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP:
Flatten Adobe Photoshop files and save as
a .TIF, .EPS, or ‘Press Quality’.PDF (without
any ICC Profiles embedded).
PLEASE NOTE: Adobe CS5 or higher is used
to layout the booklet. Flattened Adobe
Photoshop files without any ICC Profiles
embedded should be saved as .EPS, .TIF, or
‘Press Quality’ PDF.
FILE REQUIREMENTS Ads must be sized at actual size and saved
as 300 dpi.
All images, graphics and colors must be
CMYK (no ICC Profiles embedded).
All imported images and graphics are 300
dpi at 100% when placed to ensure highest
quality when printed.
COLOR Make sure all colors are converted to
process color
Rich Black. For areas of black that are
larger than ¼ page build black out of 60
CYAN, 40 MAGENTA, 30 YELLOW, 100 BLACK.
Color images must be converted to CMYK
without any ICC Profiles embedded.
When converting from RGB to CMYK, the
SWOP profile that ships with Photoshop is the
correct SMYK set-up to use.
BLEEDS and MARGINS (Full Page Ads)
Full page ads MUST INCLUDE .25” bleed
beyond the trim on all four sides of ad.
Two page spreads must be submitted as
single pages with .25” bleed into the gutter.
Keep all live text/images a minimum of
.375”, preferably .25” within trim size.
This is necessary to avoid having text cut off
when the booklet is trimmed to size.
PROOFS Color proofs are required within 7 days of artwork
submission.
All advertisers must provide a color laser
proof of all ads
This is helpful to the advertiser, ad designer
and the Fashion Umbrella Foundation.
This ensures content accuracy for font and
image placement.
The Foundation is not responsible for any
content inaccuracies in the event that a
proof is not supplied.
*Please note that inkjet or color laser proofs are NOT
accurate color representation for how the finished,
printed product will appear, including, but not
limited to, exact color matches, blends and
screens, lightness and darkness of inks, etc. The
Foundation is not responsible and has no control
over color variations in the finished product’s
appearance due to the normal printing process
and chosen paper stock.
PROOFS continued
Please note Advertisers/Ad designers: The
universal Pantone 4-Color Matching system is the
most accurate when choosing colors for the ad
design and presenting color selections.
Color laser proofs are NOT an accurate
color representation for final print.
Although the Foundation does its best to
safeguard against printing errors, the
Foundation is not responsible for errors that
occur due to improperly formatted and
submitted artwork.
Additionally, there may be a fee of $70 for
ads that need to be altered to conform to
the CMYK standard.
AD DESIGN If you do not have an ad artists/designer, the
Fashion Umbrella Foundation can offer in-house ad
design services at special rates for advertisers.
APPROVAL PROCESS Ad requests must be submitted with artwork.
Once the Ad has been reviewed an email will
be sent on the Ad approval decision.
If approved, the company has the option of
reserving the space.
Space is available on a first-come-first-serve
basis.
To reserve an ad space, half of the ad rate is
required and will be due upon receipt of
PayPal invoice.
