There are certainly dening differences among real estateagents. All real estate agents are licensed by the CaliforniaBureau of Real Estate which requires that you must be 18 years

or older, a legal resident of the United States, must be honest andtruthful, and take a number of college-level courses. An individual’shistory also comes under scrutiny and any criminal conviction or disci-plinary action may result in the denial of a real estate license.

Once an individual has obtained their real estate license, they areencouraged to become a member of their local Association of REAL-TORS®. Membership in the local Association of REALTORS® includesmembership in the State Association and the National Associationof REALTORS®. Membership allows the individual to use the trade-marked term ‘REALTOR®’, requires additional standards of care out-lined in a strict Code of Ethics and provides professional education,peer networking and advocacy for private property rights.

The REALTOR® Code of Ethics requires all REALTORS® to adhereto the Nine Duties to the Clients and Customers, Five Duties to thePublic and Three Duties to Fellow REALTORS®!

To be a Master Club Member, you must meet all the requirementsabove, and excel in sales production. The exact value of sales pro-duction may change annually, but in Placer County the minimum salesproduction is set to recognize the Top 10-20% among the PlacerCounty Association of REALTORS® membership. This year, the mini-mum sales production was increased to $4 million in real estate saleswith a minimum of eight transactions OR at least 25 transactions. Theminimum sales production required next year may increase, as thereal estate recovery results in healthier sales prices and successfultransactions.

There are those colleagues among us who consistently outperformin production. Provided their performance is documented and duesare paid, the cumulative annual recognition results in designations ofLife Member 5-9 years of Master Club Membership with no more than3 years gap) and Outstanding Life Member (10 plus years of MasterClub Membership with no more than 3 years gap).

Duties to the Clients and Customers:• To protect and promote their clients’ interests while

advance their clients’ best interests.• When buying or selling on their own account or for

their families or rms, to make their true position or

interest known.• To refrain from providing professional services where

they have any present or contemplated interest in theproperty without disclosing that interest to all affected parties.

• To disclose any fee or nancial benet they may receive from recommending related real estate products or services.• To receive compensation from only one party, except

where they make full disclosure and receive informedconsent from their client.

• To keep entrusted funds of clients and customers in a

separate escrow account.• To make sure that contract details are spelled out inwriting and that parties receive copies.

Duties to the public• To give equal professional service to all clients and

customers irrespective of race, color, religion, sex,handicap, familial status or national origin.

• To be knowledgeable and competent in the elds ofpractice in which they engage, or they get assistance froma knowledgeable professional, or disclose any lack ofexpertise to their client.

• To paint a true picture in their advertising and in otherpublic representations.

• To refrain from engaging in the practice of law.• To willingly participate in ethics investigations and

enforcement actions.

real estate professionals.• To respect the exclusive representation or exclusive

brokerage relationship agreements that other
