7 BRANDS OF EXCELLENCE, AT THE FOUNDATION OF THE GROUP'S
SUCCESS
Excellence that covers every segment of the market and maximizes the
growth of Retailers. Epta's real strength lies in the time-tested know-how of
its brands - which enhances every type of store, from cash&carries, to
convenience shops - and in its ability to reinterpret the aesthetic and
conceptual developments in new distribution formats. Below is a brief
excursus on the brands that make the Group what it is today, including their
history and the solutions they offer:
Costan is the original core of Epta. Starting out as the first artisan workshop
for the production of ice-boxes and refrigerated cabinets established in 1946,
Costan became part of the fledgling Epta Group in 1986. Always synonymous
with top quality, excellent service and technologically advanced, reliable
products, the brand has a commercial network made of branches in Italy and
sales offices and distributors abroad.
Bonnet Névé stems from the merger of two prestigious brands, leaders in
their respective reference markets: Bonnet Refrigeration, borned as Bonnet
in 1830, and Satam Névé, acquired in 1988. This prestigious brand has
received major recognition from the market for its revolutionary solutions in
merchandising and energy conservation.
George Barker, UK leader in the design and production of custom made
refrigerated cabinets, was founded in Bradford, in 1928.
Joining Epta in 1999, it brought a high level of know-how, crucial in ensuring
efficient pre-sales support to clients and in guiding them towards the solutions
best suited to their needs.
5
Eurocryor, a brand founded in 1991 in Solesino, in the province of Padua, Italy,
is known on the market for the production and sale of high-end serve-over
refrigerated counters, ideal for furnishing and customizing prestigious stores.
Misa was founded in 1969 and is a leading manufacturer of commercial and
industrial cold rooms. Headquartered in Pomezia, in the province of Rome,
Italy, the brand was acquired in 2011 by Epta, thus allowing the Group to
complete its offer and to create new opportunities and synergies in the
Ho.Re.Ca. sector.
Founded in 1983, Iarp is among the leaders in the production of self-contained
(plug-in) cabinets with integrated cooling units. Headquartered in Casale
Monferrato, Piedmont, Italy, IARP joined the Group in March, 2013. Thanks to
its outstanding technical know-how Iarp will make it possible for the Group to
leverage synergies, diversify business and complete the supply chain. Iarp’s
most distinctive feature is its potential for customising products, resulting in
furnishings that are purpose-built, even on a one-off basis, for the Ho.Re.Ca.
sector and Food&Beverage multinationals.
Knudsen Køling, is a Danish brand specialising in the design, installation and
maintenance of turnkey refrigeration and CO2 systems, joined the Epta Group in
July 2015. Headquartered in Køge, close to Copenhagen, Knudsen Køling has

POWER UP YOUR STORE
Today we are confronted with one of the most profound social and
technological transformations which the Retail industry has ever experienced.
The outlook for this market is expected to evolve toward new retail
distribution formats, in which the customer's shopping experience becomes a
direct competition factor between store brands. Also, commitment to
environmental issues, makes it possible to turn shopping venues into
meeting points that attract and retain consumers sharing the same value
system.
The response of EPTA and of its brands is expressed through the slogan
"Power Up Your Store”. By the use of this slogan the Company confirms its
client-focused approach and emphasizes its ability to meet client needs while
maximizing store growth. An ambitious strategic approach, based on the
more flexible, eco-friendly systems EPTA is renowned for, in support of a
decisive model change, a better purchasing experience for Clients and the
consequent increase in sales for the Retailers.
There are three main pillars in this new organization model: innovation,
sustainability and custom-made solutions. Firstly, technological innovation is
a distinctive characteristic of the EPTA Group's products and a guarantee of
its important achievements in conserving energy resources and reducing
environmental impact through the use of F -Gas Regulation compliant natural
refrigerants. Moreover, the Group also excels in customizing the offer,
combining merchandising solutions and new-generation refrigeration
systems. The solutions offered by the EPTA brands are the perfect witness to
the values of the Italian architecture and style; they interpret the most
extreme modernity as well as the most reputable traditionalism; models that
stand out in the settings or simply blend in naturally with the background,
thereby creating functional layouts in line with the Retailer's standards of
beauty.

Finally, the specialized skills of each brand make it possible for the group to
come up with the perfect system for every application context: from Discount
outlets, to Hypermarkets, to convenience stores to the Ho.Re.Ca. sector
businesses.
Maximizing the ultimate satisfaction of the client is the culmination of this
approach, which is closely related to continuous improvement in terms of
products, services and business processes. The answer to making this
possible is EPTOLOGY - THE EPTA WAY UP. Using 4 propulsive concepts:
Experience, Efficiency, Excellence & Evolution, Epta reconfirms its
commitment to accompany its clients in their development and evolution, with
concrete, innovative solutions and reliable services.
A continuous improvement for increasing the customer
satisfaction

THE EPTOLOGY EVOLUTION: THE EPTA WAY UP
The neologism created in 2011, “Eptology, The Epta Way”, is a concept that
can only be distinctively traced back to Epta and that sums up the corporate
calling: promoting sustainable growth and development. A vision that unites
and guides the people who make up the Group, influencing every facet of
work and production: from green factories to the development of products
that guarantee maximum energy efficiency and excellent food preservation in
the new eco-stores.
In 2014, three years from its conception, the phrase “Eptology, The Epta
Way”, evolves and moves “UP”: consistent progress which testifies that the
Group is truly committed to accompanying its clients in their growth, providing
solutions that are in step with the new challenges of global markets. An
approach that Epta uses to favour the transition from product economy to
system economy: a cultural transition that translates into added value for
Retailers in search of innovative display concepts for their Stores.
There are 4 Evidences at the foundation of this model: Experience,
Efficiency, Excellence and Evolution, to guarantee a shopping experience
that is more enjoyable for the consumer and more profitable for the Retailer.
Combining ethical and institutional principles with the image and objectives
promoted by Expo2015: this is the challenging new goal Epta has set itself. It
harnesses a value concept which embraces the need to supply food that is
healthy, safe and sufficient to people everywhere. In addition, the Group is
enhancing the ethical value of foods by supporting their importance in
economic terms: a responsible approach adopted with “The Epta Way UP:
preserving Food Value”. Using technologically advanced systems, this
approach ensures food is perfectly preserved and displayed, thereby
promoting its value. In particular, thanks to systematic research and
development work, Epta can guarantee flawless presentation, outstanding

FOUR "E'S" THAT MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
Experience
With its brands, the Group’s history goes back more than 100 years in the
Refrigeration business: success started out in Italy and became stronger over
time, thanks to significant investments in Research and Development and to
a discerning internationalization strategy. The Group’s experience also
guarantees a high level of customisation for these systems, to suit the
specific climate zone and the requirements of Retailers.
Efficiency
Efficiency and sustainability are the Company’s powerful development
engines. This is why EPTA joined the Eurovent European Voluntary
certification program, set up by the main manufacturers in the air conditioning
and refrigeration industry to guarantee authenticity of the performance ratings
and of the statements issued by the manufacturers.
In addition to ensuring certified energy performance ratings, EPTA has
completely remodelled the structure and the appearance of its cabinets to
meet the emerging European trend that favours closed cabinets as the best
solution to reduce waste, rationalize consumption and increase the
temperature inside the stores. This makeover features the use of glass doors
and covers as the ideal choice to ensure maximum product visibility and
improve the shopping experience for the consumer.

Excellence
Excellence belongs in the spirit of the organization and is a continuous and
constant process over time, as evidenced by the numerous awards that Epta
and its brands have received. Thanks to its eco-friendly solutions, the
Company was awarded several International Awards, noteworthy among
which are the Eco-conception 2015, the prestigious Janus de l’Industrie 2013
and 2014, that the Company won thanks to its innovative and
environmentally-friendly solutions, the Cooling Industry Awards 2006, 2009
and 2014, the Eco-Care 2014 and the Grand Prix du Froid 2012.
Yet more achievements, the certifications obtained over the years: PED
(Pressure Equipment Directive), HACCP-Food Safety Program, UNI EN ISO
9001:2008 and 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001, PAS99:2012 and the CE
marking for all products. In addition, to guarantee the highest quality and
safety in food preservation, Epta has developed a silver-ion antibacterial
treatment, that aims at improving the shelf-life of products.
Evolution
Epta regards the development of cutting-edge technology and unheard-of
configurations as a powerful competitive weapon, which draws its strength
from the synergy between the complementary skills and expertise of the
individual brands and the Group's Innovation Centre. The first innovation is
the “Full Service” solution, whereby Epta, jointly with KellyDeli, offers its
clients a turnkey Sushi Corner, fully equipped for the preparation and sale of
raw fish. Another major innovation example is the “Shop in Shop Concept”,
the first refrigerated temporay store, with refrigerated counters that can be
deployed for promotional campaigns, special cooking shows and for the
presentation of organic and ethnic foods. Lastly, the Dynamic System
technology is worth of note, that makes it possible to store meat inside the
cabinet for 5 days, while maintaining its physical and organoleptic properties
unaltered and significantly reducing the weight loss rate.

ETHICS AND CSR: A SUSTAINABLE IDENTITY
Epta has presented in 2015 its third Corporate Social Responsibility
Report, providing the last year’s key economic, social and environmental
results to stakeholders and Clients. It also defines future objectives,
promoting sustainable growth and enhancing human resources. Epta set a
high standard for the reiability of this report which has accordingly been
certified by the TÜV Austria Cert GmbH Institute which applies the GRI
(Global Reporting Initiatives) guidelines, obtaining an assessment of C+.
In addition to high-performance energy saving solutions, Epta’s focus on
safeguarding the environment is also borne out by measures geared towards
optimising energy and water consumption in establishments: the installation
of cogeneration systems and photovoltaic panels has, in one year, led to a
14% reduction in the KOEs (Kilograms of Oil Equivalent) per product made,
whilst consistent technical improvements have also reduced water
consumption at a rate of 31% per unit produced.
The interest for the environment goes hand in hand with the Group’s constant
attention towards human resources and social issues. Epta aims to create a
positive working environment, focusing on the development of skills and
know-how, for the growth of the Company and respect for interpersonal
differences. The Group has organised courses to train more than 500
professionals at the CO2 Training Centre in England (+ 100% compared to
2013).
Marco Nocivelli, Epta’s CEO declared: “The third Report is tangible proof of
our commitment to continue the process which got underway four years ago
to demonstrate and implement strategies geared towards achieving
sustainable social progress.” A responsible approach effectively summed up
by the concept “The Epta Way UP: Preserving Food Value”, which takes
tangible form in the ongoing Research & Development work for ensuring food

THE F-GAS REGULATION: GAZING INTO THE FUTURE
Greenhouse fluorinated gases, HFCs mainly, particularly used in refrigeration
and air conditioning, are blamed for contributing to a 5% of global warming.
In this sense, and in view of the commitments under the Kyoto Protocol,
Europe has set itself clear goals through the review of the F-Gas Regulation
842/2006: an 80-95% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in developed
countries, compared with figures from 1990, by 2050. Currently, a dramatic
reduction in the emissions for the commercial refrigeration sector is
expected: In actual fact, the Regulation lays down precise deadlines for the
containment, recovery and disposal of greenhouse gases and provides for
restrictions that must strictly be complied with on a national level and on a
European level.
For EPTA this is a challenge but also an opportunity to develop solutions that
use natural refrigerants and new green technology, with the goal of gradually
eliminating HFCs on the market. In particular, the group has actually put in
place a series of measures to refurbish existing systems, such as the ranges
of plug-in cabinets and convert them from R404A gas to propane (R290),
which has a high performance coefficient both in low temperature (+12%)
and medium temperature (+8%) applications as well as a reduced
environmental impact, with a GWP (Global Warming Potential) around 1,300
times lower than that of R404A. Last but not least, Epta offers CO2 systems
that harness carbon dioxide as a natural refrigerant with a minimum
overall GWP of 1.

EPTA’S NEW SOLUTIONS
Spectacular Freshness,
to maximaze your sales
Costan and Bonnet Névé bring a new addition to the RevUP Family: a
range of cabinets whose winning style and technology means whole stores
can be equipped with a single family of products. The goal of RevUP
Technology is to revolutionise modern display concepts to boost retailer
business, generating a new image for the Chilled Food area geared towards
achieving the utmost visibility, comfort, quality and energy savings. In
particular, the stars of the new range are: GranVista/SkyView and AeriaUP
positive vertical and semi-vertical cabinets, the frozen cabinets,
ElephantUP/AmpleoUP and CaymanUP/ColiseumUP, and the traditional
Rossini Design/Maxima Modular Design cabinet.
Inspired by the principles of contemporary architecture, the RevUP Family
features a minimalist style and clean, sophisticated lines that set it apart. The
cabinets are outstandingly versatile and can be used for displaying all goods,
ranging from fresh to frozen foods, bakery and deli meats, fish and meat. The
result creates displays that are evenly arranged, in keeping with the brand’s
Look & Feel.
The absolute stars in this
development are Granvista by
Costan and Sky View by
Bonnet. A new and mould-
breaking solution on the market
that is backed by the Group's

masterpiece: a surprising design offering full vision of the displayed products,
unsurpassed efficiency and quality that will increase Retailer sales.
A wall of products available to the consumer in a single gesture. GranVista
and SkyView are total glass cabinets including full-height glass doors. They
are characterized by the absence of a roof and by uprights that allow an 8%
larger opening. Perfect visibility and aluminium handles guarantee greater
comfort in use. An advanced lighting study also favours visual continuity,
eliminating shadows: a triumph of lights and colours, in which the cabinet
blends in and becomes invisible, so eliminating all barriers to purchase.
In regards to energy efficiency, the double glass doors feature the best UG
value on the market, i.e. 1.1 W/m2K, for a cabinet with insulation similar to
that of a cold room and with better mist prevention. The results - certified by
Eurovent - confirm that GranVista/SkyView is constructed with materials
providing the highest level of performance in terms of thermal insulation. Its
completely renewed aeraulic design enables 11% energy savings when
compared to traditional closed cabinets and 62% when compared to open
cabinets with night curtains. In terms of money, this equals over 400 EUR
savings per year (with 0,15€ per KW average energy cost) per cabinet, as
well as a 1,237 kg reduction in the CO2 released into the environment.
Modern production lines ensure total component quality. Also, the choice of
non-metallic composite materials eliminates corrosion and rust issues, while
reducing weight too. This translates into easier, smoother transport and
assembly. The new door opening systems too are highly reliable. Tested for
a 10 year life cycle they are easy to install and need no maintenance.
Granvista / SkyView is also a multi-sensory refrigerated case, designed to
elicit an emotional response. In fact, the new accessories include multi-
sensory shelves with fragrance release and enhanced lighting, to highlight

promotions. Not only that but also digital functions: on request it is possible to
provide the cabinets with new canopy screens, to convey video advertising
messages as well as with interactive touch screen monitors, positioned on
the end walls, that the consumer can use to check out product information or
the latest cooking tips.
In 2014, Epta was awarded the Janus de l’Industrie award, eco-design
mention, by the Institut Français du Design (IFD) for GranVista/SkyView in
the special version developed in co-operation with Danone and One Buy
One. Bonnet Névé received the award during the 60th Janus ceremony held
at the Palais du Luxembourg, home to the French Senate: an event in which
49 new creations that improve the consumer shopping experience were
awarded recognition.

Weight loss is reduced by 96% over a 24 hour period: in more specific terms,
this system ensures an average weight loss of only 0.12% compared to 3%
in a traditional meat cabinet, ensuring a rapid return on investment.
Moreover, even in terms of environmental impact, the advantages are
obvious: reduction of energy consumption by more than 20%, compared to
other cabinets currently offered on the market and additional savings in
water, cleaning agents, film wrap and aluminium foil. Lasting freshness,
perfect display and visibility of fresh, high-margin products. Considering a
3750mm cabinet and 6 shop opening days a week, the Dynamic System
investment payback is really fast and shorter than 18 months.
Amongst the systems dedicated to showcasing freshness at its best while
offering unrivalled flexibility, Eurocryor also offers additional solutions marked
by flat and curved glazing and decorated silk-printed panels, available in a
variety of colours and fitted with LED back lighting. There are a various
accessories provided for the cabinets: customizable glass work top, stainless
steel finish, steel bumper rail. In addition to the Bistrot Window Opening
System, which allows the flat front glass to be opened, the cabinet can be
fitted with a weighing system built into the rear service counter to aid the
sales person.
The elliptical island plug-in cabinet Eclipse also stands out, featuring a
rotating plate which emphasizes the display of products in the counter
and easy access to the technical area through an opening in the front. The
Chocolate Tower, consisting of three completely transparent shelves is
singled out by a ventilated unit (14-15 °C) for the display of special treats and
chocolate desserts. The distinctive features of the new Eurocryor cabinets
further underline the Company’s ability to offer exclusive, original units
designed to emphasize and arrange the display of products in the store.
Not just spectacular freshness but also energy efficiency, ergonomics,
flexibility and attention to detail: these are the strengths of Rossini Design

solutions apply RevUP Technology to traditional cabinets to best effect,
ensuring the sophisticated design enhances high marginality fresh produce,
with a positive effect on buying processes.
A further strength of Rossini Design and Maxima Modular Design is the wide
range, making them the perfect solution both for specialist shops and food
areas in supermarkets and hypermarkets. In particular, these linear units are
available in different lengths for promoting cheeses, deli meats and dairy
produce. They also include a specific cabinet for meat (Ultra), one for
patisserie products (PS) and a range for ready meals (Tavola Calda).
Rossini Design/Maxima Modular Design is available in a Convertible version,
with flat and curved tilting glass: a new, more flexible sales format that
transforms the cabinet from serve-over to self-service and vice versa in one
simple move. This plus-point is of great interest to retailers, who can change
the layout of the store according to shopper numbers and the customers’
purchasing approaches. This solution allows stores open 6 days a week to
recover 50% of the time sales staff spent serving customers and dedicate
this time to other tasks, with an annual overall saving of around 15,000
Euro*.

selection including brand name products. To meet the needs of this market,
strong and sturdy solutions requiring only simple, rapid cleaning and
maintenance must be offered. Practicality, but also excellent visibility of the
displayed goods are, in fact, the elements that characterize the cabinets
offered for Discount stores: Sound op Energy, Sound Cristal,
Rhino/Strateo-Valea and Solo.
Bonnet Névé’s range of plug-ins for frozen products sees a further addition
with Sound Top Energy, the refrigerated top unit which opens the frozen
area up to new solutions. When teamed with cabinets it makes for improved
visibility of the items on display whilst maintaining the same display ratio.
Combined with shelving dedicated to other products, it is ideal for boosting
cross-selling. In detail, Sound Top Energy is available in linear and back-
to-back versions, and can always be converted into a positive temperature
cabinet to allow fresh foods to be displayed. Moreover, in keeping with
RevUP Technology, Sound Top Energy is fitted with LED lights and full
visibility doors with self&soft closing mechanisms that add to the sturdiness
and reliability of the new cabinet. Lastly, Sound Top Energy dedicates
particular care to environmental sustainability and energy saving, thanks to
the use of a natural refrigerant (propane R290), a variable speed-drive
compressor (VSD technology) and high-efficiency ventilation.
Sound Crystal is a plug-in chest freezer, but it is also suitable for fresh
produce in the BT / MT convertible version. Renewed aesthetics where
sturdiness meets maximum transparency, this unit features large glass
covers and LED lighting integrated in the frame, that make the goods and the
name brands easier to recognize. Moreover, it is extremely modular,
ergonomic and flexible: designed in the linear and end-unit versions, it can be
used as a standalone unit, back-to-back or as an island, so enabling flexible
set-ups according to the needs of the store. Finally, it is available in two
green versions: Sound Crystal Green and Sound Crystal Green Energy,
based on 100% natural refrigerants, like Propane (R290), that ensure a

reduction in CO2 emissions. Moreover, the Energy solution is also equipped
with inverters enabling 25% energy savings, compared to other cabinets in
the same category (R404).
Specifically developed for the Hard Discount sector, the Rhino and Strateo-
Valea positive, remote-cooled multidecks by Costan and Bonnet Névé
respectively, best meet the needs for resistance and durability: the shelves
and bottom deck are designed with reinforced metal and steel parts, and the
rear panels can easily be removed. The simple design also facilitates access
to internal parts at the time of cleaning and simplifies re-stocking and
maintenance operations. The cabinet is equipped with high-efficiency fans to
maintain a stable internal temperature and with an automatic night blind for
greater energy savings. This solution is also available with hinged doors.
Compact Intelligence,
to win over customers...who are more satisfied
Convenience stores, mini-marts and
gas stations have different needs than
other types of stores. Small to medium-
size public establishments, often
located in service stations, sell a vast
gamut of retail products. Given the
confined spaces, on the one hand they
need to come up with an efficient display ratio combining maximum display
capacity and minimum dimensions and on the other, they need to use flexible
solutions for displaying different products, based on the promotion of the
moment. A variety of alternatives: from plug-in cabinets like Beluga/Eyris
and Syncro, to AeriaUP, Keplero, Stylix, to the new solutions by Iarp.
Beluga by Costan and Eyris by Bonnet Névé present an innovative concept
for the frozen food area that brings together the plusses of remote-cooled

negative counters and the flexibility of self-contained units. Thanks to large,
eclectic-style glass surfaces, upper sliders, sweeping front glazing and full-
glass end wall on end-unit, this completely transparent solution affords total
product visibility. It is also available in a convertible Beluga DUAL version
that, by a simple gesture, can be converted from a fresh products set-up to a
frozen products set-up and vice versa, thus redesigning the store layout
according to store needs. Naturally Green & Safe thanks to the propane gas,
it guarantees maximum protection for frozen foods and for the environment,
as well.
Ideal for any type of product, Syncro is also a solution that helps rationalize
the available display space. In fact, this serve-over remote-cooled cabinet is
designed to cover any requirement; serve-over and self-serve sales are
combined in one counter that uses the same space as a traditional serve-
over counter. Small refrigerated compartments are also available at the back
of the counter to optimize storage.
Studies confirm that an enjoyable store atmosphere can positively influence
the customer's buying patterns. With this in mind, AeriaUP, a semi-vertical
positive-temperature self-serve display case with a brand-new style, not only
fits perfectly into any space, but also creates a functional setting for effective
interaction with the consumer. The new range, developed using exclusive
RevUP Technology, has a renewed aeraulic system and is fitted with new
sliding doors, guaranteeing 65% in energy savings. Extra care has been

This section is completed by EPTABlue Waterloop, the innovative system
that converts any cabinet from remote-cooled to plug-in, thanks to a
plug&play connection to a closed water circuit. This solution offers several
advantages, including a reduction in energy consumption up to 25% with
increased refrigeration efficiency, a TEWI (Total Equivalent Warming Impact)
index slashed by 40%, and a 75% drop in the refrigerant gas load and water
consumption, making for an ROI of 8 months*. The inverter in the system
adapts the heat extraction rate deployed to actual cabinet requirements,
which are variable upon environmental conditions, store attendance and
upon the day/night changes. Specifically, the inverter and the electronic valve
adjust the evaporation temperature based on cabinet load and on external
conditions (winter/summer, high/low attendance, day/night). The system is
also able to work with different external conditions in a free-cooling mode,
adapting to different temperatures. The EPTABlue Waterloop system can be
easily connected to the store’s air conditioning system because the water
loop integrates simply, recovering the heat emitted by the cabinets and using
it for the heating system. To ensure the highest quality and reliability,
EPTABlue is factory-tested and is available for the entire EPTA product
range, even for cold rooms.

Frozen appeal
More value for frozen foods and a higher turnover rate
Over the years frozen foods have
become a part of the eating habits of
many families: considered safe and
good quality food, they are perfectly in
line with a new life style in which there
is less time to dedicate to shopping and
to the preparation of complicated

recipes. However, in terms of sales frozen foods still have a rather low
turnover rate: they do not have the appeal of fresh products. Closed in
cumbersome cases, they attract little attention. To renew the frozen food
section, Epta wagers on solutions that ensure maximum visibility, simplified
access to the goods and high performance levels. Such is the case of:
Tortuga 2/Cosmos 4 ECO, CaymanUP/ColiseumUP and Elephant
UP/AmpleoUP.
Maximum visibility and product turnover: to achieve these two goals, the new
CaymanUP/ColiseumUP and ElephantUP/AmpleoUP improve
performance levels, in terms of product visibility and accessibility. The new
full glass doors made of composite material frames and special glass panels
treated with an anti-mist film, also have integrated LED lights. Finally,
compared to the previous versions, the doors provide a lower UG thermal
transmittance index- 0.6 W/m2K - i.e. better insulation.
ElephantUP by Costan and AmpleoUP by Bonnet Névé are negative-
temperature wall cabinets for the display of ice cream and frozen foods in
supermarkets, hypermarkets and cash&carry stores. The cabinet has also
been fitted with the new MULTISOLUTION Kit, making it possible to
transform the bottom of the unit into a 400mm ‘tray’ offering outstanding
storage and display for bagged frozen foods. In particular, the design of this
accessory features a small internal glazed section and a shorter second shelf
making it easier for consumers to access the products, and for staff to
restock the cabinet.
Tortuga 2 and ECO 4 Cosmos - frozen food chests with integrated covers -
feature redesigned merchandising and opening systems. Specifically:
minimal aesthetic impact thanks to 1250 mm sliding modules that reduce the
number of vertical profiles, curved glazing with integrated hand rail and an
extremely modern appeal that makes the range perfect for all retailer settings
and needs. An additional distinctive feature is the "push-pull" cover, made

even more practical by a vertical, rather than horizontal opening, to
guarantee enhanced functionality for both consumers and store employees.
Tortuga 2 and Cosmos ECO 4 can be opened by two thirds with one simple
gesture, even simultaneously on both sides. In addition, when the handle is
pushed, the centre glass panel slides further, opening up to 100%, for the
greatest convenience in restocking operations.
A further key feature of this new range is its energy efficiency, boosted by
the new design of BTH electrical system, specifically designed for negative
temperature remote-cooled cabinets. Available in two versions, depending on
the required energy efficiency; it can reach savings of up to 50% with the
"High Plus" model or between 20% and 30% with the "Basic" line. Thanks to
the new Epta Care app, the LED lighting can be adjusted using a wireless
connection. Finally, a diagnostics software displays any alarms in progress
and manages the main functions.
Impulse attraction
to stimulate impulse buying
The impulse market, in recent years,
has favoured a change in buying habits,
becoming one of the strategies of many
stores, supermarkets and hypermarkets
especially. With this in mind, Epta
proposes a wide range of products: from
Twin by Eurocryor to the Costan and
Iarp plug-in cabinets aimed at improving merchandising through creative
design solutions. Aesthetics that make good use of transparency, capturing
the light and making the displayed articles stand out.

Designed for fresh foods, the cabinets in this line are marked by their
transparent structure, which makes it possible to channel the natural light on
products, playing up freshness, thanks to almost invisible end walls, shelves
and back panels. The Twin line also allows mixed merchandising by
integrating the display of fresh foods inside the cabinet with the display of dry
goods on the top panel. There are two depths available: Midi Twin (1500
mm), Mini Twin (1300 mm), Midi LS and Twin SV (1900 mm); cabinets that
can be customized based on the needs and the store’s layout.
Sophisticated vertical and horizontal solutions by Iarp: Gemma 30 and
Realook: masterpieces of the refrigeration industry that capture attention and
surprise with their exclusive style. Gemma 30, a compact plug-in with soft
lines: totally customizable in terms of branding, it is perfect for really small
areas like service stations and convenience stores or for installation next to
the cash registers to boost impulse shopping. Very similar, but much more
streamlined, the Realook 45 is a vertical freezer for ice-creams, whilst the
Realook 42 is ideal for displaying drinks. These built-in unit cabinets have
cutting-edge appeal and offer a surprising level of interactivity thanks to the
LCD screen built into the glazed door, showing promotions and involving
customers in an all-new shopping experience.

efficiency. With this in mind, EPTA helps the client in choosing and
customizing the most suitable eco-compatible system according to store
dimensions and characteristics; the benefits include excellent energy
savings. Epta offers a complete range of green and efficient CO2, systems
designed to guarantee a gradual reduction of the greenhouse effect, thanks
to the gas’s low GWP value of 1.
Eco2Small is the system that most faithfully interprets the “Power Up your
store” concept: also available in a Large version, it is the best solution in
terms of efficiency and minimal volume. Transcritical CO2 technology has
never been so easy: In fact, using a vast catalogue of options and
accessories, retailers can create their own solution and configure the ideal
system for their store. Relying on natural gas also represents savings. It is
the best and the least expensive refrigerant on the market, it does not require
special certifications and provides energy savings up to 20% for the Small
version and 13% for the Large version. All of the components in the structure
are assembled and tested at the EPTA production sites and the system
arrives at the store optimized for start-up.
EptaGreen is an F-Gas READY! cascade system which combines a primary
circuit with the eco-friendly refrigerant R134A (GWP three times lower
compared to R404A) and CO2, used as a fluid for medium and low
temperatures. EptaGreen is a cascade system combining R134A as primary
refrigerant and carbon dioxide, to ensure a GWP value (Global Warming
Potential) below 1,500. It's a good alternative, reliable and convenient,
especially for large stores in very warm climates where ambient temperatures
do not allow efficient use of full transcritical CO2 technology. Ideal for LT and
MT, it has a compact structure of only 3 m in length and can be installed both
indoors and outdoors. In the case of small spaces, it is also possible to install
the entire system on two levels in order to reduce the total length to 2.3 m2. It
is easy to install and maintain thanks to the arrangement of the components,
which can easily be accessed in the event of control and service operations

by the technical staff. A version for outdoor installation is also available,
equipped with a soundproof enclosure.
An innovative adaptive system to manage food cooling and store heating
demands: Epta Clima allows the two circuits to interact in real time, ensuring
greater performance levels in every season of the year, with any outdoor
temperature. In fact, the generated heat that is usually not exploited is
reutilized for the store's heating needs without wasting even one kW of
energy. Moreover, the use of natural refrigerant allows a further reduction in
the store's energy costs. All-around maximum efficiency and reliability plus
intelligent integration of the two circuits, for greater performance levels in any
season or climate condition.
Zero impact also for the new Misa Silent and static Converter. Ideal for
residential areas, the former ensures a dramatic noise pollution reduction
thanks to hermetic scroll compressors, sound-absorbing internal covers and
a new design of the outer rigid structure that minimizes vibration. The static
converter, on the other hand, is an electronic device for the optimization of
the systems’ "power quality". It affords numerous advantages, including: 30%
reduction of the committed power capacity, reduction of electrical input,
suppression of electromagnetic noise and the parallel management of same-
capacity packs with only one converter, which can also be retrofitted.

THE SPECIAL SOLUTIONS
Culinary corners to play up the
specialties and typical recipes of
Italy, Europe or Asia, but also to
allow the consumer to taste them
directly in the store: this is the new
winning trend in hypermarkets and
large-scale stores. A solution that
brings together culinary art
performance and entertainment to offer the client an experience beyond a
simple shopping trip. Epta is part of this trend and becomes a change-maker,
articulating its offer for the creation of specialized corners in which sushi
is prepared and sold. Full-service solutions developed in collaboration with
KellDeli, recreating mini-restaurants for the preparation of sushi. These super
accessorized corners are offered and sold as complete packages with
turnkey installation. This concept has already harvested a very positive
payback in terms of both store sales and client experience.
Another innovation is the first
refrigerated “Shop in shop”, a
mobile display space complete
with refrigerated cabinets
stemming from the
collaboration between the Epta
Innovation Centre and the
Polytechnic University of Milan,
Italy. A captivating proposal featuring a new eco food store format for local
products and an empirical purchasing approach. From the producer to the
consumer: this new “shop in shop” recreates the visual, olfactory and tactile
sensations of a natural environment, well beyond the boundaries of the

traditional "supermarket"
concept. The shop covers an
area of approximately 30 m2 and
it is built around a central wood
element in the form of a tree.
The materials used to cover the
various elements and areas
dedicated to food tasting and to
cooking shows are all natural or recycled. A place of trade, but also a
meeting place, perfect for a snack and a moment of relaxation or a ready-to-
eat dinner. This temporary location, conceived by Epta, is very scenic and
can be 100% customized: the perfect space for occasional sales of specialty
dishes that relate to specific territories or moments.
Impact is the outcome of the winning partnership between Eurocryor, Epta
Concept and Carrefour to develop an all-new positive temperature cabinet,
custom designed for the hypermarket. In actual fact Impact was conceived to
meet needs for reorganising display areas, and to combine presentation of
pre-packaged self-service products with ultra-fresh served products. These
are brought together in a single unit with a sleek appearance inspired by
functional design tenets, whilst respecting the brand’s values: “bienveillance,
expertise et accessibilité”. In detail, the top part is dedicated to traditional
sales for customers who appreciate advice from experienced staff when
choosing specialities. The bottom part is instead set aside for self-service
items. This allows, by way of example, cheeses to be sold alongside bottles
of white wine, making for increased cross selling and impulse buys. In
addition, the special layout of Impact reflects the innovative approach
adopted by Carrefour in creating simple, linear settings that showcase the
superior quality of the products and the know-how of experienced staff
members, whilst at the same time underscoring “le gout du bon et le gout du
beau” which is a feature of the brand. Last but not least, Impact distinguishes

itself with its highly ergonomic design: with a height of around 1.30m, it is
easier for staff to restock the counter.
With Impact, Epta won the prestigious Janus de l’Industrie for the second
year running. The cabinet won the hearts and minds of the jury by meeting
the parameters of the "5 Es" (Economy, Ergonomics, Esthetics, Ethics and
Emotion) to perfection. The parameters were defined by the award’s founder
Jacques Viénot, and to this day they remain the basis upon which the
selection is made.
FOOD SAFETY ... THE WORD TO MISA
Misa, the undisputed Food Safety star: this is demonstrated by the important
Food Safety Programme HACCP certification, obtained in 2012. A
prestigious qualification certifying that the products are planned,
manufactured and installed in full compliance with the evaluation standards
of the HACCP method (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) applied to
all activities which directly or indirectly have repercussions on food safety.
Flexibility and extreme modularity are the other two essential principles for
this brand, which have led to the development of the new WICR space-
saving corner for mini cold rooms. Available in six different configurations, for
low and medium temperature, mini cold rooms fitted with this new corner are
more capacious and fully satisfy the need to optimize retailer spaces.
Furthermore, these mini cold rooms with 20 cm modules occupy less space
compared to the 40 cm version with equal performance levels and can be
installed in any type of environment.
Also on show, semi-recessed doors and P350 floors for cold rooms. These
floors with non-slip surface ensure improved thermal insulation and a greater
dynamic range. Finally, Misa has revolutionized monobloc units, which are
now PLUS: a solution that, compared to the previous version, provides 28%

EPTA SERVICE : FIRST CLASS TECHNICAL SERVICE
Today, continued service is an important differentiation factor that has a
significant influence on the client's decision. Therefore, after-sales service is
always a crucial question in terms of development for Epta, which can count
on a widespread service network with over 400 centres in Italy, Germany,
France, UK and the Middle East. An area in which Epta has unrivalled skills
and a wide range of services.
More than 2,400 stores in the world rely on Epta’s remote management:
based on an integrated software platform, compatible with all of the
controllers on the market, this service enjoys the know-how of a team of
experts that interpret alarm messages. After making a real time diagnosis of
the problem, our technicians can effectively and quickly adjust the systems,
allowing the Retailer to save up to 20% in energy. Moreover, thanks to the
new energy management, careful analysis and predictive algorithms make it

QUESTIONS FOR MANAGEMENT
What is the role of EPTA in the current market scenario? DANIELE MARONGIU - Global Commercial Operations Director To increase their turnover, profit and market share, mass retailers are
currently confronted with increasingly complex issues. The key to increasing
business profitability in the current market scenario lies in the ability to
understand that sustainability can only be achieved with a set of
technologies. These will determine a practical impact on the cost of retail
outlets in terms of energy savings, but also a global vision that goes beyond
the product concept. In this sense, the role of the retail outlet has changed
profoundly over the past few years: it creates a relational space for the sale
of goods. Even the structure of the retail outlet offer has evolved, from self-
serve packaged products only, to assisted-sale of fresh produce and new
services that can facilitate more relational transactions and contacts with
consumers. In terms of layout, the Group has revamped formats, favouring
maximum visibility and flexibility with modular or island cabinets, circular
counters and low-height furniture. Therefore, in addition to having the
perception of a larger space, consumers may benefit from an all-round
panoramic vision and may move about the sales area with more ease when
making their purchases.
Finally, our new proposals favour interaction with the product to a greater
extent, whereby facilities, excellent presentation and the preservation of an
assortment of products enable a greater consumer involvement, even
sensory, for a sustainable, more enjoyable shopping experience and a higher
average sale.
33
What was the purpose in the development of the RevUP concept?
WILLIAM PAGANI - International Sales & Marketing Director
The objective of the RevUP Family concept is revolutionizing the modern
shopping experience and modern display concepts, to boost the business of
our customers. This means reaching beyond merchandising, to create a new
picture of the cooled foods area in the mind of the consumer, in the name of
completely renovated visibility, comfort, economy and aesthetics. At the base
of the success of this new line, completely re-engineered, is a perception of
higher quality, hygiene and care in the store. Invisible cabinet for visible
merchandising: I am proud to introduce this new purchase-stimulating
range, completely different from the cabinets on the market and based on the
principles of contemporary architecture, which is increasingly characterized
by indoor spaces protected by total glass facades. The goal of our team of
experts was to cause an emotional response in the users of their
architectures, to elicit immediate sensations through unique space solutions,
lighting and eco-sustainable materials. Therefore dynamism, flexibility and
fluidity are the cornerstones that define the design of these new furnishings.
They are characterized by a "constructive synthesis" in which the parties
interact and create a harmonious and revolutionary result at the same time.
