MEET RACHAEL CRANE — KOMEN FUND RECIPIENT
In April 2016, Rachael felt a lump in her breast, but as a young 26 year-old, she wrote it off as nothing. It
was when she started experiencing unbearable pain that she went to her doctor. The diagnosis blindsided
her, especially when she found out how rapidly her triple negative breast cancer was growing. What could
have been treated with a lumpectomy two months ago (when she first discovered the lump) now required
a double mastectomy and chemotherapy.
The Komen Breast Fund was available to provide support when Rachael need-
ed it the most. “Life doesn’t stop when you have cancer; you just have to keep
going”. The funds that were administered helped Rachael keep going, covering
many of her medical bills and expenses so she could focus on what mattered
most - fighting breast cancer.
Today, Rachael is finished with treatment. Thanks in part to the
assistance provided by the Komen Breast Fund, she was able to
receive the services she needed, and is now cancer-free!
