Overview National movement toward Police Worn Body

Cameras

December 2015, Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors tasks the Sheriff ’s Office with creating and implementing a program

June 2016, completed a four month long Field Test

January 2017, county enters into contract with Taser-Axon for 1200 BWC’s

April 2017, training and deployment begins and is scheduled to have full deployment by January 2018

Training

In the mandatory 4-hour training, the deputy will learn about the policy, procedures, become familiar with the device and the evidence management system.

Only after receiving the training will a deputy be issued their own personnel BWC.

Through an aggressive training plan and accommodating staff, the West Valley Patrol Division will have full deployment in less than two weeks after rollout.
