2016 Orphan Solidarity Days Project Booklet

Dear Esteemed Friends of Orphans,We are ready to depart with new goodness and hopes in our bag. We strive to hold lovely hands and to become hope for who watch our com-ing and run to heat the little chilly hearts present.

Our journey starts by hugging our orphans in the 47 cities just next to us. Then by flying like birds to 44 countries, we will be witnesses the sweet excitements of our children there.

We will depart to bind up their wounds and be able to say “you are not alone” from Syria to Bosnia, from Sri Lan-ka to Kenya, from Kazakhstan to Patani and Palestine. All our effort is to make the best of brotherhood, be light for darkened worlds and to fire the conscience of humanity…

Orphan Solidarity Days tell us about the revival with our children. We will be in the

endeavor as far as we can to make our children happy and to conquer their hearts by providing education, health-care, social and cultural support and development projects. We will be near our orphans and their families as far as we can with projects of beautiful clothes, new school materials, warm projects for winter, food, stationary aid, medical checkup and devel-opment for income channels to families. We are getting ready to please by opening new orphanages, construc-tions of orphans’ houses and restoration projects.

What about dropping a smile to the faces of more than 200 thousands orphans with 636 projects in 45 countries in-cluding Turkey within the Or-phan Solidarity Days which we will organize the in which the 6th one will be organized?

OBJECTIVE OF THE CAMPAIGN

WHY DO WE SUPPORT ORPHANS?When social and po-litical developments of the world are ex-amined today, the world is distant from the desired level of goodness. Social pol-

icies created by states for orphan and waif children unfortunately cannot fulfill the exist-ing needs.

According to offi-cial figures, there are more than 200 million orphans in the world.

According to esti-mations this num-ber reaches 400 million.

100 million or-phans live on the streets without any protection.

Each day 10 thou-sands of children became orphans due to reasons like war, disaster, dis-ease, and accident.

6.000 children are kidnapped by crime syndicates within each 24 hour period.

2.5 million Children are sold each year.

300 thousand chil-dren are forced to become child sol-diers.

8

PURPOSE OF THE CAMPAIGN

1. To put projects into effect which will meet the basic needs of or-phans

2. To help orphan families stand on their own feet through develop-ment projects

3. To visit countries and region where orphan care works are performed and examine the con-ditions there.

4. To organize trip/entertainment programs with education, health, social aid and cultural activities projects.

5. To closely supervise the orphan works of our foundation and re-port them.

6. To contribute in the development of partner organizations which we work for orphans together in countries and regions.

7. To get to know our orphans and their families closer, hug each other and generate familiarity.

8. To build bridges between orphans and sponsors via donators who are in the team of visiting countries and regions.

9. To observe the psychological con-ditions of children in their own environment under the control of expert psychologists and peda-gogues who are included among the team going to visit regions where there are orphanages, de-termining the disabled children if there are any, and provide the necessary treatment for them.

10. To bring into service new or-phanages which are completed and inspect the status of the present ones.

9

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ORPHAN SOLIDARITY DAYSOrphan Solidarity Days have great importance in regards to calling pub-lic attention to the real-ity of how it is being an orphan in addition to its significance in mediating to socialize between our sponsors and orphans of various countries and re-gions. en to our orphans in their own environment for them to hold on to life and is emphasized to them that they are not alone. Campaign has significance in im-plementation of con-crete projects which have contributed in cre-ating public awareness about orphans.

MAURITANIAAlmost the entire landscape is covered by deserts in Mauritania where the population is 3 million. The country colonized by France in late 19th century gained its in-dependence in 1958. 40% of the population of Mauritania which are Muslim live under the poverty line. Since education opportunities are very limited and book publication is very expensive, students con-tinue their education by writing on wooden panels called luh. Orphans of Mauritania fighting with drought and epidemics are in need of sup-port. IHH tries to find solutions for poverty especially with development projects for orphan families.

SUDAN Sudan, which gained its independ-ence from Britain in 1956 became closer to the Arab world during the Six-Day War in 1967 which was fought between Arab Nations and Israel. The events that happened in Darfur and in the south of the country caused Sudan to face severe pressure within the international area. The diverse ethnicities in the region and negli-gence caused Western powers to interfere in Darfur which is rich in natural resources. The south of the country has become an independent state named Southern Republic of Sudan in 2011. BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINABosnians, who have become Mus-lims along with Albanians during the 5-century-long duration of Ottoman rule in the Balkans, have been tormented with massacres and forced migration for two hundred years now. Lastly during the war between 1992-95 Bosnian Muslims were slaughtered by Serbian and Croat elements with the support of their Western allies. Three hundred thousand Bosnian Muslims were killed by the end of the war. Al-though the orphans of the war grew up new orphan children need our support today. Bosnia also is the reason of establishment of the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation.
