2016 SEASONCELEBRATING 22 YEARS OF
GROUNDBREAKING THEATRE
Dear Patrons,
Get ready for a fabulous 2016 season! This summer we have pirates, magicians, bounty hunters, a kind-hearted president, an aggressive rich man who wants to be president (no, it is not taken from the news), and twins on the verge of college. We also have a biracial couple trying to make sense of the world today and a young deaf man on the cusp of adulthood trying to understand the hearing world
around him. We have put together a season that is funny, witty, touching, provocative—and entertaining. We hope our plays and musicals will inspire continued discussions with friends and audience members.
We pride ourselves in bringing together unbelievably talented composers, playwrights, directors and actors and giving them the opportunity to do top-notch, compelling work. This season we are thrilled to have three world premieres: Presto Change-O, American Son (winner of the 2016 Laurents/Hatcher Award for Best New Play), and Broadway Bounty Hunter. We believe that new work is the heart and soul of theatre, and we continue our commitment to nurturing new works.
We are the place to be this summer! Take a look at all of the superb shows, special events, concerts and cabarets that make up our 2016 season – more than 260 performances from May to October.
Order your tickets today. Buy a pass and see several shows. Not only will you save, but you will also have access to the best seats in the house and flexibility in changing your dates.
See you at the theatre!
Warmly,
Julianne BoydARTISTIC DIRECTOR

OCTOBER 5 – 23
In 1921, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and President Warren G. Harding took a camping trip together into the Maryland woods to escape civilization; what they couldn’t escape was each other. Inspired by an actual event, Camping with Henry and Tom is an exploration of friendship, politics and leadership—a comedic and dramatic clash of two great minds and one great heart of the twentieth century.

Starring Debra Jo Rupp and set in the wilds of suburban New Jersey, Kimberly Akimbo is a hilarious and heartrending play about a teenager with a rare condition causing her body to age faster than normal. When she and her family flee Secaucus under dubious circumstances, Kimberly is forced to reevaluate her life while contending with a hypochondriac mother, a rarely sober father, a scam-artist aunt, her own mortality and, most terrifying of all, the possibility of first love.

Inspired by the Blaxploitation movies of the 1970s (think Shaft), this exciting new musical follows 60-ish-year-old, unemployed actor Annie (starring Annie Golden as herself) as she’s asked to become a bounty
hunter and capture a South American drug lord. With a score rich with R&B and Funk (and a splash of ‘80s Rock ‘n’ Roll), the musical follows a woman
of a certain age as she tries to find the inner strength she needs to save theatre and realize her true badass identity. Pure, unadulterated fun.
