2016
Creatively yours,
William Childs President, AAF/Greater Lehigh Valley Ad Club
It’s the one time during the year, when all the marketing and advertising professionals gather to celebrate and champion the great work that gets created here in the Lehigh Valley.
For me, tonight will be for honoring those who work in this crazy industry and get up every day and pour their hearts and souls into every project they touch while helping clients grow their brands and increase their market share.
This show is the culmination of countless hours of work done by a very dedicated group of people. This year, the show committee is led by Sarah Sterner. Thank you Sarah and the rest of the ADDY® committee for their dedication and commitment to the club. They have given selflessly of their time to ensure tonight will be a huge success. Just like the award-winning advertising that will be honored during tonight’s show, it takes a group effort to plan this show.
I want to acknowledge the AAF/Greater Lehigh Valley Ad Club board for their work this year and for the year ahead. The ad club is now entering its fourteenth year. That’s a testament to its members and to people like you who support the club by attending our 20 Minutes and a Beer events, our Holiday Mixers as well as our Lunch N’ Learns. We couldn’t have an Ad Club without you and for that we are truly grateful.
Thanks must also be paid to our sponsors, National Cinema Media and Northampton Community College; our print sponsor, Working Dog Press; our beer sponsor, Allentown Beverage; our wine sponsor, Vynecrest; and our mead sponsor, The Colony Meadery. A huge thanks also to our talented show hosts Troy Brokenshire and Cheryl Moritz.
Congratulations to all of tonight’s winners.
Tonight is my favorite night of the year.

judging criteria
the awards
• Use AAF scoring guidelines & consensus judging
• Consider each entry independently on its own merit of creative achievement
• May award more than one gold or silver award in each category, or none
• Determine BEST OF SHOW by considering all gold award winners
• The American Advertising Awards are the nation’s largest and most competitive ad creative contest and are a program of the American Advertising Federation
• Tonight’s awards are the first of a three-tiered competition. More than 200 local clubs are also holding local competitions, followed by a district competition and then the national ADDYs.
• Tonight’s gold and silver winners can choose to forward their entries to the district level. The gold winners at the district level automatically advance to the national competition.
• The ultimate goal of AAF - Greater Lehigh Valley is to foster continuous improvement and to celebrate our unique region and its creative talent.
Thank youA Special
to Village Bake Shoppe for generously providing tonight’s
decadently delicious cupcakes!

Ted is an experienced creative director that has worked in the Pittsburgh market for over 19 years. He has held creative positions at several agencies in the city, in addition to establishing the Verb Agency, a unique agency that taps into his network of top advertising professionals to build the right organic team for creatively progressive clients.
Ted’s commitment to effective creative is matched only by his commitment to his clients. Whether he is generating concepts, providing strategic direction or fine-tuning a campaign, attention to detail and client strategies are his top priorities. Throughout his career he has developed strategic campaigns for national and regional clients in various industries including, healthcare, education, tourism, manufacturing, sports and entertainment, consumer, and B-to-B. His work has been
featured in AdWeek, Ads of the world.com, David Carter’s Creativity 34 and has garnered numerous Addy Awards, health care industry awards, and Telly Awards.
Ted is active in the advertising community and is President of the Pittsburgh Advertising Federation. He is also the national representative for the American Advertising Federation District 2 American Advertising Awards.
Ted earned a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design from La Roche in 1996. When not living the dream of an ad executive, Ted enjoys spending time with his family and friends, exploring the outdoors and pursuing the art of fly-fishing.
Christa is the founder and CD at Vinciguerra Creative located in Northeast, Pa., near the city of Scranton. (Put on the map in more recent years—thanks to The Office!) The award-winning design studio produces branding, marketing, and interactive projects for clients ranging from non-profits to start-ups and established businesses.
Prior to settling into that role and alongside a couple year stint as a legal secretary (thankfully this comes in handy more often than not), she earned a BFA in graphic design with honors from Marywood University, an Associate Degree in advertising from LCCC, and holds several web design/development certifications from Scranton University. Her diverse disciplines took her to interesting places in the field: an agency with an extensive print shop arm, a monthly print publication, a custom art & frame shop, plus a few more agency check-ins.
She has served on the American Advertising Federation – Northeast, Pa. (AAF NEPA) board as Web Director, Social Media Director, and ADDY chair throughout the past 6+ years, and currently serves as President of the organization.
When she’s not generating ideas, you’ll find her generating type and dabbling with her newfound love of letterpress with a circa 1870 Letterpress Jobber. She’s also an illustrator, photographer, occasional writer, and a coffee-holic.
Richard brings over 30 years of creative strategy, marketing and hands-on design experience together to provide focused solutions that work. Having worked for several well respected communications firms during his career including one of the largest advertising and communications firms in New York State, he has developed a depth of leadership, strategic thinking and a smart creative approach to every initiative large or small. This holistic approach to communications does more than speak at the audience. It truly communicates messaging and creates a dialogue.
Over the years, he has developed and executed comprehensive creative solutions for consumer goods, government agencies, tourism, healthcare, higher education, high-tech and financial organizations, both nationally and internationally.
Notably, he has created successful programs and creative communications for clients such as First Niagara Bank, I Love NY, Primrose Schools, Welch’s, All Faiths Food Bank, Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Georgia Pacific, ClosetMaid and Brooklyn Hospital, to name a few.
Richard is a dedicated professional driven by his passion for design. Results driven, he creates communication programs that integrate the right mix of traditional and digital strategies to insure that the client’s goals and expectations are met.

www.nativewatercraft.comToday, references To A WAlk in the Woods are Typically preceded by “hilarious,” “beloved,” “best-selling,” “classic,” or even “comic novel.” It was not universally loved within the Appalachian Trail community when it was first released in North America in hardcover in May 1998, following its publication in the United Kingdom. Some hard-core thru-hikers complained; some Trail managers, especially in the involved federal agencies, were offended, if not outright insulted. Others in both groups could not mention it without breaking out giggling about some close-to-the-bone scene, stuck in the back of their heads — the prevailing reaction today.
The paperback followed a year later. Fewer than four years were required for a million copies to be sold. No other work ever published has brought the Trail into the consciousness of so many people from all walks of life, with the possible exception of a February 1987 article in National Geographic magazine, which then had a circulation in excess of 25 million.
In 1996, Bryson was 45 and in the United States for a few years (1995 to 2003). He and the pseudonymous “Katz” hiked enough of the A.T. to generate the material for the book — and, yes, he bought basic books and a few maps from the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) at the time. It became his seventh of what is now a portfolio of 21 books (with a new look at Notes from a Small Island out this October). Altogether, they reportedly have sold more than 16 million copies and have been translated into 30 languages.
He said recently, “Reading a book is a big investment of time and of money. My job as an author is to do all I can to make people not regret investing that time and money in me, so I try to make my books as informative and entertaining as I can figure out how.” And, Bryson has often said his Trail experience was one of the most profound in his life, not least for his appreciation of the outdoors.
Now 63, he succeeded Peter Ustinov as chancellor for six years of Durham University, in Durham, England, where the library is now named for him. He is an honorary officer of the Order of the British Empire, the first non-
