To Be Special Events CAROLS IN THE VALLEY SUN DECEMBER 9TH, 7PM - 8PM LUTHERAN CHURCH, MAIN ST The Lights ON Ceremony & Fireworks Display Sunday December 9th, 8:30pm - 9pm The 2018 Lights of Lobethal Festival will be officially “Switched on”. This year's special guests, characters from Once Upon A Princess, will flick the switch that marks the start of the lights festival. This is then followed by a spectacular fireworks display! (Best viewing location is in front of Nativity scene) LIVING NATIVITY NIGHTLY IN FRONT OF THE LUTHERAN CHURCH MAIN ST DECEMBER 9TH - 23RD 1ST SHOW 8:50PM - 9:10PM 2ND SHOW 9:20PM - 9:40PM The first performance on opening night is later as it follows the fireworks at 9pm. The Living Nativity is a live re-enactment of the birth of Jesus. This includes a new born baby, local adults, children and live animals. It is all set in a unique stable setting that is proudly presented by the Hills Christian Churches. Attractions, Markets and Food CENTENNIAL HALL MARKET, MAIN ST DECEMBER 9TH - 29TH (CLOSED DEC 25TH) 6PM - Late Browse a variety of arts crafts and local hills produce. Yours to purchase or buy to gift this festive season. Local community members will be serving light refreshments inside plus strawberries and ice-cream and a sausage sizzle out the front. Please arrive early to secure an off street park. * please consider others, especially children History of the Lights The Lights of Lobethal have been an intrinsic part of the community since the early 1950s, when local business owners hand painted light bulbs with paint, thinned down with turpentine, to decorate their shops and businesses. In the true spirit of Christmas a tradition that has continued for over 60 years began, and has now evolved into the largest Community Christmas Light Display in the Southern Hemisphere. In the early days it was simply a display by local businesses and home owners for the local community to enjoy, but as word spread visitors began travelling from other towns, and eventually Adelaide and beyond to see the spectacular displays .
