FROM PAPER TO PAPERLESS The BMRI staff announced in the last newsletter and at the annual meeting and reunion that we are going to a “paperless” newsletter. WE ARE NOW PAPERLESS. You are receiving this newsletter via email. A few folks who do not have access to a computer asked to receive a paper copy and those have been mailed. If you know of someone who is expecting their newsletter and has not received it, please make a copy and get it to them. And pass the word around to your family about our new “paperless” newsletter. We have set up an easy way for members to give us your email address. Go to our facebook page and follow the instructions there to become email users. We have about 50 who have signed up and they will receive this newsletter via email. But we have 600 on our mailing list. So that means we need many more to sign up for email. You can also send an email to [email protected] stating that you want to be added to the BMRI email list. How easy is that? Please do it now! THANK YOU!

A Word from Your President, Tracy Barnes

My fellow Brazzels, with the end of the 2017 Brazzel Reunion in Corinth Community this past June, another chapter in our never-ending story was written. Another year where new friendships were made and old ones rekindled. Another year where we came together to celebrate a heritage and legacy that is second to none. A great deal of thanks goes to the our past leadership of Hilda Estes, Rayburn Brazzel, and members of our board for all their hard work in making sure it was a weekend worth remembering. Special thanks go to Carolyn Lewis for all her work keeping us up to date with our many relations. It is this passion, commitment and continued dedication by so many to the Brazzel Memorial Reunion that have been and continue to be the foundation of all our achievements, past, present and future.

BMRI was able to make four community donations this year in the amount of $7,000. Those who received grants were: DART ($2500), Dubach School ($2000), I.A. Lewis School ($2000) and Bernice Historical Society ($500). If we are to continue this tradition, we do need our members to make donations. Please plan to purchase a brick, or give in honor of/or in memory of loved ones. Our web site is available to help you make donations. (www.brazzelreunion.net)

Also, take the time and forward your own memories and/or pictures to us for publication in future newsletters or post them on the Brazzel’s FaceBook page. I’m looking forward to our next reunion June 8-9, 2018, when we gather at our building to write a new chapter full of new memories and stories to tell. Now is the time to start talking with families and friends and start planning to attend.

OFFICERS

DIRECTORS

We currently have about 0 brick orders. If you have a new birth, anniversary, graduation etc. that you would like to honor with a brick please order by May 21st. It takes time to get them engraved and installed. Your order is greatly appreciated. The order form is available at www.brazzelreunion.net under “Engraved Brick Order Form”.

An engraved brick is a great way to mark an important event in the life of your family. The bricks are $100 each. This fundraiser is important, as it is one of the ways we make money that is given each year to our community.

Bricks to honor a veteran are also available. These brick are marked with an American flag. Take time to look at the bricks on the memorial wall along the parking lot. There are many family stories on these bricks. Please consider adding more stories this year.

Contact Ann Brazzel, 325-660-9055 or [email protected] for information.
