Rock the Park with Special Guests: Hauer Swing BandThursday, 6/7 at 7-9pmAmore’ fills the air with beautiful ballads by Frank Sinatra and Micheal Buble. Swing the night away with some of the most up tempo numbers ever written!! Samba, Rhumba, Waltz, Romance, Jitterbug,  and swing music. Chris Haines and the Hauer Swing Band have been playing for decades. From backyard graduation parties to large stage and theaters, the Hauer Swing Band knows how to get your toes tapping and bodies dancing. The Jay Clark Band is Nashville recording artist that hails from Dayton and has just released their second album, Turning It Up. They have been hailed as the Motley Crue of country and their high energy show has been described as a mix of Tom Petty, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Joe Walsh. If you like country and rock music you will enjoy their mix of original and cover tunes. Stargazing - Solar System Giants Saturn & JupiterSaturday, 7/21 at 8:30-10:30pmOnly the Sun is bigger than Jupiter and Saturn in our solar system. They are so big that you can see clouds on Jupiter and see the split in Saturn’s rings. If the sky is clear in Bellbrook on this summer night come see a cloudy day on Jupiter and get a magnificent view of Saturn! Venus and the Moon along with many other celestial objects will be visible as well. If you have your own telescope be sure to bring it along to explore the wilderness above! This program will be cancelled during inclement/cloudy weather. ADULT ENRICHMENTWalk and Talk Book ClubMeets the 2nd Wednesday each month June-September at 6-7pmA book club designed for those that love to read as well as enjoy fresh air on a light hike. Exercising both our minds and bodies! Each month we will meet to discuss the monthly book, while walking through the wooded and prairie trails at Sweet Arrow Reserve. Call or visit our website to get book titles. This program is a partnership between Greene County Public Library and the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Park District. An Adult Services Librarian will lead the discussion while park staff navigates the trails.Minimum of 5 required. Pre-registration is required by the Monday before until minimum is met. Hike and Sketch – Outdoor sketch class6/23 & 7/21 at 11am-1pmJoin local artist, Andrew Dailey, for a casual morning of drawing in the great outdoors. Andrew will lead the program offering drawing tips and feedback. Andrew has taught drawing for Miami University, University of Dayton, Wright State University and Rosewood Arts Centre. He exhibits his work in regional and national venues. In 2011, Dailey was honored with an Individual Excellence Award from the Ohio Arts council. Participants will take short hikes to locations throughout the park to sketch. Park District Volunteer ProgramIf you are looking for community service hours to help fulfill a project or school requirement this would be a great place to start. We are always looking for volunteers at most of our programs, special events and different park improvement projects. Our new online registration system helps to organize and track volunteer hours so that we have accurate records for you if needed. This online system is also a great way to send you reminders of your volunteer shift, as well as if there is an important program change to the volunteer commitment you are signed up for. Our volunteer opportunities are perfect for adults, students, scout groups, organizations, and families. Please register for volunteer opportunities online to see the most current opportunities or contact Alison Jenks-Pifer at [email protected] for special opportunities. Volunteers 18 and up are background checked to ensure safety of participants and other volunteers.

MeditationMondays, 5/7-6/18, 6/25-7/30, 8/6-9/17 at 9-10:30amMeditation is a time-honored technique of training the mind, body, and emotions to be calm, centered, and relaxed. This practice leads to improved physical health, emotional stability, mental clarity, and inner peace. You will learn basic techniques of meditation with primary focus on the breath. Gentle yoga stretches will be used to prepare for meditation. You will also learn how to integrate meditation into your daily life. Archery for Beginners: Shoot for Clean Water!Saturday, 7/28 at 10-11am or 11-noon Our park district received a wonderful grant this year for a new mobile archery unit through the Ohio Division of Wildlife!! Come try out this new exciting unit and learn a fun skill in the great outdoors! You will learn how to aim and shoot from our NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) certified instructors. All equipment is provided. Also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act as the archery range will be set up adjacent to the Little Miami River. Here you can observe a table top Kiosk that will provide information to “Shoot for Clean Water”! This program is made possible by grant funding provided by, the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Wildlife Restoration Program. Minimum of 8 required. Creek Crawl: Wonders of our Watershed!Wednesday, 6/13 at 1-2:00pmCelebrate the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers and learn the importance of all the waterways that are in our area. Play a fun water cycle game and then explore the Little Sugarcreek with the Naturalist while we hunt for creek critters! Bring plastic (no glass please) containers and a net if you have one to this catch and release program. Prairie Prowl: Protectors of our Watershed!Wednesday, 8/8 at 10-11:00amDiscover our colorful prairie that is full of summer wildflowers and hopping insects! Learn about the history of the Ohio prairies and why it is important for our park district to restore them. A tabletop kiosk will show us how our prairies are the protectors in our watershed! Bring an insect net and a plastic (no glass please) to catch and release a few insects while we explore this beautiful grassland. This program is a partnership with the Little Miami Watershed Network. River Festival – Presented by Fresh Thyme Farmers Market and Vectren EnergySaturday, 6/9 at 1-4pmCelebrate the wonderful waterways in the Miami Valley, especially the Scenic Little Miami River watershed. We will have over a dozen of local organizations who work to help promote the environment, catered picnic and live music. A picnic lunch will be provided to all attendees and volunteers by Fresh Thyme Farmers Market for the entire event. This river themed event is FREE and meant for all ages! Donations at your discretion are welcome, all money raised will be used for future Little Miami River education, events and cleanup efforts. Earth Day, Every Day!Sunday, 4/22 at 2-3pmCelebrate our beautiful earth by playing the Decomposition game, make recycled paper, discover our rain garden and hunt for fun, earth friendly signs along the nature trail! And sing-along with our “Litter Known Songs”! FAMILY PROGRAMSParking Lot PicassosSunday, 4/15 at 3-4:30pmWe are looking for families of all ages to come and participate in our first ever “Parking Lot Picassos” chalk drawing event. We will read a story to inspire each family to create an assigned space in our parking lot “chalk up” a space reflecting the book or whatever your family is inspired by for the day. Each team/family will get an hour to finish their creation. Once finished, a friendly panel of judges will award one team the “Golden Chalk Trophy”. There will also be other awards based on fun light hearted criteria! Each family will be provided 1 box of chalk, but if you feel you need more than that feel free to bring your own (must be washable). Pre-registration is required for chalk drawing participants space is limited to the first 17 families; registration preferred for all spectators. Where’s the Bear?!On-going through May 31st

Look under, over and through the woods for our hidden bears! Families can search high and low to solve the mystery by finding all of the missing bears throughout the Park District and our community partners. All bears can be found at any time of the day (parks are closed after dark). Get the game board on our website and look for clues of missing bear whereabouts posted on our Facebook page and website. Mail or turn in your completed game board in at the Park District Headquarters (2751 Washington Mill Road), all correct answers will be entered into a drawing for several prize baskets! This program is brought to you in partnership with Bellbrook Middle School’s 8th grade STEM class who designed the bear emblem for a class project learning 3-D printing methods.Ages: For all agesCost: FREE – self guidedLocation: Various park locations

Hug a Tree, Hug a Mom HikeSunday, 5/13 at 2-3:30pmAfter pampering the moms in your life head to the park as a family and enjoy the fresh air, trees and trails together. We will facilitate fun facts about conservation and animal mommas while exploring Morris Reserve. Bringing in Nature with Chris Rowlands Friday, 6/22 at 2:30pm

Chris Rowlands, Outreach Naturalist at Aullwood Audubon Center, will be with us to use music, puppets and lots of humor to create a woodland adventure.  Children will encounter, in his songs, fascinating animals like skunks, beavers and vultures.  Through it all, families will discover the rich diversity of wild animals.  This program is a partnership between Greene County Public Library and the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Park District.Ages: FamiliesCost: FREE eventLocation: Park District Headquarters

Interactive Clue and SundaesSunday, 7/8 at 2-3:30pm“Live Action Clue” is a twist on the popular board game. Everyone attending is a suspect and you have to try to figure out who did it, with what item, and where he/she did it in order to win. This game is recommended for people with stellar sleuths asking all the right questions and recording all the right answers! Efforts will be rewarded with ice cream sundaes! Penguins Rock!Wednesday, 7/11 at 3pmYou get to be up close and personal with African Penguins!  They may waddle around you while you find out interesting facts about where and how they live and examine penguin artifacts.  This is a very special event provided by the Wave Foundation at Newport Aquarium. It will be important to register all persons in your family attending this event through the Winters Library website: greenelibrary.info/locations/bellbrook/. Numbers will be limited, registration opens 8am 6/11/18. It’s a Rockin’ Musical Petting ZooMonday, 7/30 at 1pmLafferty Pike, an all-girl bluegrass band will share their love of music with us.  After a half hour of fun-filled music, children are invited to try each instrument.  They will get a chance to bow a fiddle, pluck a banjo or thump a bass. This program is a partnership between Greene County Public Library and the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Park District.Ages: Families Cost: FREE eventLocation: Park District Headquarters

Amazing RaceSaturday, 8/11 at 1-2:30pmThis race is like no other. Physical and mental challenges will take teams of families on a race against time. Teams will compete by solving clues and silly tasks at secret locations in 5 different parks. In order to finish first you need to work together, move quickly, and most importantly, have fun! Jump, Wiggle and Shout!4/30 and 8/16 at 10-10:30amLet’s move inside for an indoor playroom full of fun and new friends. This program is all about silly wigglies and goofy babbles. Your little one will have a blast movin’ and groovin’ to music while developing coordination, balance, listening skills, and gross motor skills. An adult companion must attend. Minimum of 8 required. Babysitting CertificationWednesday, 6/6 at 9am-4pmThis course is designed for young adults who will be babysitting or providing child and infant care. You will learn emergency action steps, fire/water safety, infant care, and also CPR, basic first aid and choking management. The program will be taught by a certified Bellbrook Fire Department, American & Safety Health Institute (ASHI) instructor. Participants will receive certification cards for CPR; Basic First Aid & Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) upon successful completion of the program. Bring a sack lunch. Minimum of 8 required. We will be discovering some of Ohio’s insects, fossils, wildlife and birds while learning to be good patrons of our earth! Budding Artists Art Camp“Decoy Art Studio” staff will teach skills from professional artists and teachers from Decoy Art Studio for a more in depth look into art and your typical summer camp craft project.Session 1: 7/9-7/13 at 10:30am-12pm-Drawing Camp A week of exploring some traditional drawing materials in some wacky ways! Join us to learn basic skills and safety instruction for shooting archery. Participants will be instructed on how to hold, aim, draw and shoot a bow.  On May 8, 2018 the residents of Bellbrook and Sugarcreek Township will have the opportunity to vote on a 10 year .6 mill levy for the benefit of the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Park District. The levy will provide necessary funding for operating and capital expenditures, including the improvement and operation of nature reserves; athletic complexes and facilities; the conservation of lands and natural resources; public recreation programs; various school and public educational programs; historic preservation of existing and future sites;

wildlife education; protection of area river and wetland corridors; and maintenance of all existing and future park facilities. The cost for this levy will be $1.75 more per month for each $100,000 of your home’s value.
