Greetings, Missions Update: Our team of eight people returned from Haiti on March 25th. They had a great time. Several of our members went to New York on another church’s mission trip and returned on March 30th. Jeannie Campbell has already shared with me how God has blessed our Haiti trip. On Wednesday night, April 4th, several of our mis-sions group volunteers will be sharing their experiences with us. You will want to hear their excit-ing reports. On Wednesday night, April 25th, we will also be having our Annual Missions Festival 6:15 p.m. as well. Plan now to attend these two special Wednesday nights.

Mission Goal Exceeded! Speaking of missions, we have already exceeded our goal of $4,000.00 for the Annie Armstrong North American Mission Offering. We have received $4,175.27, but that does not include what we will receive on Easter Sunday. One hundred percent of the monies received for this offering goes to di-rectly to missions here in North America.

Building Fund Update: We continue to receive weekly gifts and contributions to our Building Fund for paying off our Worship Center. For the month of March we received $8,289.50 in gifts to the building fund—up from last month. Praise God for His generous grace and for the people who follow His will. To date we have now received a total of $741,863.01 to the campaign, which is about $200,000 more than last year at this time. Great job! For some of you who are new to our church, we welcome you to become a part of this great ministry. We praise God for His continued blessing upon on our church financially and in every other way.

Women With a Purpose: On Thursday, April 5th, our women will be hav-ing their monthly First Thursday Meeting in the Family Life Center at 6:30 p.m. Bring your coffee cup and join the fun. Katherine Garneau will be here to share more of God’s testimony in her life. There will be fun, food, fellow-

ship, and lots of sharing. New “Selfie” Church Directory Available: We will be handing out copies of our new Church Directory on April 8th for you to receive. Please take only one per family.

Attention Vacation Bible School Workers: For those of you who will be working in VBS this year, there will be an Associational Vacation Bible School Training Event here at the church on April 21st from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. VBS will be held this year on July 15-20th. Let Teresa Collins or Sandra Silkwood know if you are planning to attend.

Each year as Easter approaches, I’m reminded of high attendance figures, special music and extra ener-gized worship!! The extra effort everyone puts forth at this time of year, and the fact that we are host-ing the 7th annual EASTER EXTRAVAGANZA EVENT the day before Easter, is bound to bring in an abundance of new visitors. The music ministry, in an effort to focus on “the right stuff” through this whole experience of new seekers and visitors coming to our church, looks at their Easter Chorale as an evangelistic outreach of not only our church, but the community at large. We not only extend membership in the Chorale to non-GPBC members of our community, we embrace it. In this way, the music ministry is sharing Christ’s special message through rehearsals and performances of His truths. We are opening doors that might not have been opened before. This Easter, I’ve selected some favorite, traditional Easter worship songs for the congregation. I’ve also chosen a selection for the Easter Chorale called, “My Redeemer Lives” with “He Is Alive. It contains a fantastic message that I would like to share with you now AND at Easter – WE HAVE A RISEN SAV-IOR!!! It reads: Verse 1: I know He rescued my soul. His blood, has covered my sin. I believe. I believe. Lord, I believe. Verse 2: My shame, He’s taken away. My pain is healed in His name. I believe. I believe. Lord, I believe. I’ll raise the banner. My Lord has conquered the grave! CHORUS: My Redeemer lives! My Redeemer lives! My Redeemer lives! He lives! BRIDGE: You lift my burden, I rise with You. I’m dancin’ on this mountain top

Page 5

To see Your Kingdom come. CHORUS… Descant: He is alive, so lift up your voice! He is alive, celebrate and rejoice! He conquered death with the pow’r to forgive! My Redeemer lives! Celebrate, He lives! CHORUS… What a simple, yet powerful and joyful message this song presents. I would encourage you to read and re-read the words and allow their deepest significance to penetrate your soul. When you allow your soul to open to truth, you can sing from that position. We can merely sing from our mouths, or we can pur-posely sing from our souls. Let’s make singing from our souls the goal… not only Easter Sunday, but each and every Sunday. Corporate worship is always extra energized and impactful at Easter because of the larger numbers sup-porting each other, but it is also from God’s strong, positive spirit working in and through our church!! I encourage you not to let loose of the “Easter Excitement” in the week of, and the weeks and months following Easter. Praise God for the seeds to be planted and watered at Easter, and rejoice in the work the Lord is doing through all of us as we once again strive to fulfill our mission statement, “To Know Him and Make Him Known” this Easter!!! In His Service, - David

A Sunday School Parable I want you to imagine with me for a moment that someone knocks on your front door and offers to buy your car for double the Bluebook value! At first you think ‘This must be a scam!’ so you tell the man to leave. The next week, the man returns and once again offers to buy your car. The process repeats itself for several months until finally you accept his offer

and your car drives off into the distance. That evening, you turn on the news just in time to see a story about a man who purchased a vehicle that was filled with gold hidden within the driver seats. Pan-icked, you realize that the vehicle was yours and you never took advantage of the gold that you literal-ly sat on for years. In this parable, the car is Grover Park Baptist Church and the gold is our Sunday School ministry. Every week we announce and publish the importance of Sunday School. Each class has a teacher that mines the riches of God’s word in their lesson to be able to serve it to you each Sunday. Each class has fellow sinners saved by God’s sweet grace who are aiming to apply the Word of God and encour-age one another through discouragements and celebrate with one another through victories. If you have children or grandchildren that are not in Sunday School, you are choosing not to give them a gift far more valuable than anything you can put in an Easter basket or hide under a Christmas tree. Make no mistake, Grover Park Baptist Church doesn’t have a single perfect teacher or a perfect class, but what we do have are circles of believers who love the Word of God, care for each other and desire that others would join them in the sweetness that is Sunday School. Our motto at Grover Park Baptist Church has long been ‘A Place to Call Home’. In my experience over the past 32 years as I have shift-ed from infant to child to student to adult member to student pastor and into an associate pastor at Grover, the Sunday School ministry has made the largest impact upon my life as I truly consider this place and people ‘my home’. I pray you will consider finding a Sunday School home that you will commit to learn, love, serve and rest in today.

It’s crazy to think that it is spring break already. It is now officially spring, which means it’s time to start thinking about camp. Every year we partner with churches from our association for a week of middle school camp and a week of high school camp. These two weeks serve as a time for us to intentionally pour into the students. It is always amazing to see the rapid growth that happens in the students’ lives over just a week of camp. The ability to get away from everyday life and disconnect from technology, while soaking in the Word (and the pool) allows students to hear God’s voice clearly and respond to Him. Camp provides us an oppor-tunity to find where a student is at in their walk with Christ and call them to a deeper walk. This year the camp theme is “Vision”. God has a vision, a plan, for each one of our students’ lives. That vision is to be a disciple who makes disciples. To help our students understand how to do this we will be walking through topics such as baptism, how to read the Bible, how to share the gospel, and how to worship, just to name a few. Our goal every year at camp is to equip students with the tools necessary to go back to their homes, schools, and churches and show people what it means to live for Christ. This year’s topic is going to push and challenge our students to be more bold and mature in their walk with Christ. Middle school camp is June 18th through the 22nd and high school camp is June 25th through the 29th. If you sign up before the middle of May the cost is $115, but it goes up the longer you wait. To help cover the cost of camp we are offering scholarship opportunities. To earn a scholarship, the student has to read a preselected por-tion of the New Testament and watch a Bible Project video for those books on Youtube. Students will be able to earn up to $100 towards camp. Make sure to talk to me before you start reading through the books. The videos can all be found at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/user/jointhebibleproject. The scholarships opportunities are as follows: Reading Matthew through John and watching the videos for all four books is $30 Acts through Philemon and videos is $40 dollars Hebrews through Revelation and videos is $30 God Bless, Nicolas Wilson

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”. - Acts 1:8

Does God call all people to serve him in special ways?

Call describes inviting someone to participate on a Mission team. This past week in Mare Rouge we had a team of eight that testified to the truth of being called on this particular

Mission trip. It was evident the Holy Spirit had gone before us and prepared our way. There were so many situations where we all looked at each other as we knew God was there with us each and every step we took. We were all aware and praised him each and every day for all he

was doing. The B.S.U. students will be sharing after dinner on April 4th. I can tell you your heart will be full if you are present to hear these amazing students testimonies of their God filled week.

A Note from Pastor Wisny: “A huge thank you to the Women's Ministry for the beautiful clothes and money to buy diapers for baby. She was born March 20th, weighed 6 lbs. her name is Kayla. She is perfect, God is so good.”

April 6th and 7th is the W.M.U. Celebration in Springfield, Mo.

at South Gate Baptist church. If you are interested please give me a call or contact the West Central Association Office at 660-747-3628.

Our Annual Mission Festival will be held April 25th in the Sanctuary

following dinner in the Family Life Center. Dinner is at 5:15 and Festival starts at 6:15. Dr. Rich Hedger is the speaker for the Festival this year.

Dr. Hedger is a Missional Evangelism / Discipleship Team Leader for the Missouri Baptist Convention. He is responsible for partnership mission

strategies / partnerships, church evangelism, Great Commission discipleship, disaster relief, and WMU. Rick was born into the family of God and called into Christian service in 1978. Since then, he has served as senior pastor of churches in Missouri and Arkansas and in a church-planting role in Ten-nessee. As pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Neosho, Mo. He developed partnerships with our International

Mission Board missionaries to engage the people of West Africa. God soon turned the call on Rick’s life to “Call-Out the Called” through local churches, serving as mission awareness director for the Illinois Baptist State Asso-

ciation and now at the MBC. Rick holds a B.A. degree in Bible from Missouri Baptist University, and both a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary.

May 12 we will be traveling to The Kansas City Rescue Mission in Kansas City, Mo. We will leave the church at 4:15 p.m. On this night we will be participating in their

Dear GPBC Family: We are excited to finally see signs of Spring. The long, cold winter has given us more snow than normal for England and we are ready for warmer days. We are enjoying time as a family with both girls being on Spring Break. Kennedy goes back to BFA on April 8 and Caelyn will start school again on April 16. The university students are on break for much of April, so it will be a slightly dif-ferent schedule for Terry this month. He will soon finish the Alpha Course, which has been an opportunity for people to explore Christianity. The work with the refugees is continuing and we had fun recently celebrating Nowruz, the Persian New Year. The food pantry is up and running and has been a good opportunity to use food that would otherwise go to waste in order meet some of the needs of refugees. Thank you for your continued prayers for us. We do appreciate the huge part you play in our work in England. Much love, Terry, Sheila, Kennedy, and Caelyn Wilbanks
