This past month we launched our new service times with much anticipation of what God would do through these new opportunities of worshipping Him on Sunday Mornings.

Through extended prayer, and much sacrifice from everyone in the church, we were able to see a balanced attendance in each service, and were able to reach our highest recorded attendance on a Sunday morning (in December) at 636 people. Included in that total were 36 people who attended our new Hispanic service at 11:30 a.m., in the gym.

In addition to that, we were thrilled that there were eight baptisms in the final three weeks of 2016, and more to come as we head into 2017.

As we continued this momentum through the month of December, we also announced that after a lengthy search for a new Worship Pastor, the elders have prayerfully extended a call to Rusty Wilson, who will oversee our Worship Ministry at Hikes Point Christian Church.

Rusty comes to us with ten years of experience in church ministry, and is a graduate of Cincinnati Christian University & Seminary. He is passionate about leading others to the Lord through worship, and is very familiar with HPCC. Rusty and his wife Leah have been married for five years, and have a little two-year old girl named Lorelei. Before accepting our position at Hikes Point, Rusty was serving in the Dominican Republic with G.O. Ministries, and has previously led ministries in Ohio and Kentucky.

Rusty’s first Sunday leading worship with us will be on January 22.

With that said, our Interim Worship Leader, Patrick Longest, will continue in his role until that Sunday, and help in the transition process. We have been so blessed with the leadership Patrick has provided during this search process, and his humble spirit of serving others in the name of Christ!

Again, these are exciting times to be a part of the church family at Hikes Point! We are so thankful for your partnership in ministry and helping advance the kingdom of God, one person at a time!

A WORD FROM JEFF

As we begin 2017, I encourage you to take some time to think about ways God might want you to be involved at HPCC this year. God continues to bless HPCC and I hope that you will prayerfully consider where you might be able to share His love and Gospel message through service at HPCC. As I sit down with new members each week, it is great to hear about the gifts and abilities that God has given them to serve and use for His Glory. If you are not currently serving in a ministry area, I encourage you to volunteer in an area that fits you. I would love to meet with you and talk to you further about serving in a ministry area. If you would like to set up a time to meet to talk about these. please let me know. During the congregational meeting in November the congregation chose one new elder and six new deacons to serve in leadership positions at HPCC. We are so excited to have these men serve here at HPCC. I would like to encourage you to join us Sunday evening, January 8th at 6:00 p.m. for a special worship and ordination service to ordain these men. There will be a time of fellowship after the service in the gym with coffee and dessert. Come and join us for a great night of worship and time in God’s Word. Our Sunday Morning Bible Studies have moved to their new times. If you are not currently involved in a Bible Study, I would encourage you to join one of our four classes. Take some time to look at what each of these classes are currently studying and I encourage you to get involved in one of these classes. If you have any questions about them, please let me know.

WORSHIP NEWSPATRICK LONGEST | Interim Worship Leader

“Behold, I am making all things new.” - Revelation 21:5

Happy 2017! As we head into this new year, many new adventures await us. New opportunities to serve. New moments to see God’s hand at work. New reminders of God’s love, His grace, and His plan. For us at Hikes Point, it also means excitement over our new Worship Pastor, Rusty Wilson! Rusty will begin his role in January, and I know we are eager to see how God uses Rusty in this new role. He will begin leading us on-stage beginning Sunday, January 22!

I am so unbelievably grateful to God for allowing me the opportunity to serve in the Interim Worship Leader role these past six months, and I want to thank you for your encouragement, support, and prayers during my time in this role. Many thanks as well go to the Worship Team, who mean so much to me. I look forward to continuing to worship alongside you each Sunday!

HISPANIC MINISTRY NEWSDANIEL RAMIREZ | Pastor of Hispanic Ministries

Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

One of the things that I love about Hikes Point is our intentionality and the mission hearts we have to reach out to the many international families that are moving in to our church’s neighborhood. A few weeks ago pastor Jeff forwarded me an email he received from one of the nearby elementary schools that the church partners with. In that email, the principal wanted to make us aware of the number of international kids they have in that school as we prepare our outreaches. When I went through the list counting all the nationalities, I couldn’t believe how many international families are represented in just that single elementary school—46 different countries are on that list! And on the top of that list, of course, there are two Spanish-speaking countries. We’re very excited about what the Lord has brought to Hikes Point Christian Church to reach the nations for Christ.

We couldn’t have a better start of our Hispanic Worship than the one we had on Sunday-December the 4th, it was awesome!!! After the Lord’s presence in our ministry I think what’s making the difference is our HPCC’s volunteers that have been doing lots of things to make this Hispanic Ministry the best it can be for His glory! We’re very thankful that the Lord had chosen us to partner with Him in this great adventure reaching out to our Hispanic community!! We pray and hope the Lord is going to multiply our effort in ways we can’t even think or imagine for Him and His glory!! Besides our Sunday Worship Service we also meet every Thursday nights to pray, coordinate events and Study God’s Word. Note: if you know any Hispanic co-worker, employee, relative or neighbor, etc please invite them to our church. If you have any questions or need any help with reaching out to a Hispanic, remember you can call me at our church’s main number.

The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:40

Often times when we read this verse we think of serving the less fortunate. While that is a true and worthy application, I think we can even apply it to the children of our church. Serving and guiding them (little brothers and sisters in Christ) would certainly be of most importance to leaving a spiritual legacy and giving a sacrificial gift to our Lord, Jesus. I know what you’re thinking. No, I’m not trying to guilt you into working with the children at Hikes Point. But if God has been tugging on your heart to help and you are thinking someone else will do it, here are some facts to know:

1) It takes 60+ volunteers each Sunday to fully serve the children at Hikes Point Christian.2) We serve on average 80 children birth-5th grade each Sunday. Since our 3 service plan has begun, the average is closer to 90.3) We are still in need of 25-30 new volunteers to serve in all areas of the children’s ministry. Thank you to the 35 new volunteers who have

already joined us since August!

If the Lord has been calling you to serve, He will equip you for the work. Just step out in faith and you will see the fruitfulness of your service in the future of our church.

Blessings in the New Year,Erin Stewart

Just a few Remindersn We are still collecting children’s pajamas (all sizes) and blankets (twin/full) to donate to the Center for Women and Families.

n We are asking that only adults use the check-in computers to register their children on Sunday mornings. Thank you for your understanding.

n Children’s programming on Sunday mornings is offered at 8:30 a.m.(one room only for all ages), 10:00 (all rooms open), and 11:30 (all rooms open).

HPSTAFF

2017

It’s that time again, the start of a new year. And each new beginning is accompanied by a new set of goals. A great definition of the word ‘goal’ is: “The end toward which effort is directed.” We all set goals for different areas of our lives, but I’ve found it’s that ‘effort’ part that often becomes a problem. We can’t move forward without first moving. Jesus tells us that we should seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, that we should put God and God things first in our lives. And when we do this, all the other things we stress and worry about will be taken care of. Join me this year in focusing our efforts towards a deeper relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Parents! Please send me a copy of your student’s activities schedules, I love coming to their events!Hikes Point Student Ministry Volunteer of the Month: Casey Laskee! Casey has been a tremendous asset to the Hikes Point Student Ministry since she was actually a student here. She is an outstanding teacher for our High School students, and has given her time to help lead many trips over the years, including conferences and summer camps. Casey recently announced she would be stepping away from teaching for awhile and will be greatly missed. Thank you Casey for all you’ve done over the years, the friend you’ve been, and the impact you’ve made in the lives of the students here at Hikes Point!

To God be the Glory, Bobby!
