Use a word or two in a sentence. HFW High Frequency Words Practice Use or make HFW cards. Read the words that begin with the same sound. Do a Read, Spell, Read drill with a family member or your teacher. Vocabulary Vocabulary Practice Read each sentence. Circle YES if the underlined word makes sense in the sentence. Circle NO if the underlined word does not make sense in the sentence. Rewrite the sentence so it makes sense.

All informational texts have a central idea. Readers can figure out a text’s central idea by using supporting evidence and details from the text and pictures.

Sound by Sound Blending: Digraph ch Today we will read words with the sounds for the letters ch.

• Say the letters and sounds in the cards.

• Sweep your hand below the letters.

• As you point to each letter, slowly blend each sound.

Consonant Blends Two or three (trigraph) consonants together can form a consonant blend. Each consonant keeps its own sound. The sounds are close together. Many consonants can form blends with s or l. The words stop and strap have s blends. The word flap has an l blend.

• Review spelling words form yesterday.

• Write the spelling words in the correct column.
