Concluding Message by Outgoing President Dr. Ratnabali C.

Moving on is the only thing constant in life but moving on is not that easy. It has been a year, I have

played my part as the President of Indian Menopause Society. In this 365 days, 52 weeks, 12 months

I have been constantly trying to do something new, achieve something cumulatively & now when I

look back what I see is a few achievements & a lot of opportunities.

I believe, as IMS President, the Public Awareness Programmes among all my achievements is close

to my heart, the most. I have been fortunate enough to be able to reach out to the Minister of Ayush,

Department of GOI for their association with us & publication of POISE. With this programme we

have trained 8000+ women in Yoga & Meditation. We were also conducting free health clinic &

check ups for the mass. Along with this I have pushed myself for the continuing medical education.

We have took special care for international exposure and made ourselves visible at International

Menopause Society. I have also collaborated with Indian Medical Association, Diabetic Association

of India, Geriatric Society of India, and Cardiology Society of India. The more hands we hold, the

more opportunities we make. I have tried to make the IMSCON paperless hence all the

communication have been made on E-basis. I strongly believe, root is important. Our thoughts, our

work should carry forward those earliest words of passion and courage. Hence, 1995-2018... THE

YESTERDAYS of Today. Now I've handed over my baton to someone more competent in my eyes

Dr. Neelam Aggarwal. I am sure she will take our vision to another level of success.

I have loved every experience of IMS. I have loved it so much that I will hide it in my heart as

souvenir! So that I can go back to the pages again and again. Through this whole experience, can't

remember how many times I told myself to hold onto these moments as they passed. Anyway! those

are not going anywhere. All the more reason why I should. Though I console myself by saying that

the pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again. Don't be dismayed at Goodbyes, a

farewell is necessary before we can meet again and meeting again after moments or lifetimes, is

certain for friends.

Lastly as they say - "Satisfaction lies in the effort, not in the attainment, full effort is full victory".

13TH February 2019 – Launch of POISE Magazine at Ministry of AYUSH

Launch of “POISE “Annual Magazine of the Indian Menopause Society (IMS) held today and

AYUSH Bhavan, New Delhi by Shri , Shripad Yesso Naik, Honable Minister of State (IC) for

AYUSH. This issue of POISE focusses on the role of YOGA for meeting the physical and

emotional challneges faced by women above the age of 40, and is a collabarative effort

betwee IMS and the Ministry. Dr. Sonal Bathla workng with the Rural community in the north on

behlf of IMS received the first copy from the Honable Minsiter.

IMSCON 2019 showcased n number of sessions that catered to recent advancements in

academics. The conference was also a display of 5 Industry Symposia, 2 Country Symposia

(Bangladesh & Sri Lanka), 1 State Chapter Symposium, 2 International Society Symposia (IMS &

SAFOMS), 2 Free Paper & Poster Sessions, 5 Brainstorming Sessions, 3 Orations, 2 Debate

Sessions & IMS Quiz.

Not only did it have a session on IMPART & Workshop on Cosmetology in 40+ Women but also

decided to enlighten the delegates on the after affects of Menopause by including the

symposia of Cardiology Society of India, Diabetes Association of India & Geriatric Society of

India. Public Awareness Program Session was there to help women of Pre & Post-menopausal

stage live healthy, freely and happily.

CIMP Exam, a well accomplished Convocation & magnificent Inauguration was also a part of

this Gala Event.

Kolkata Menopause Society organized a Health Check up Camp for the Old age women on

February 5, 2019 at Apan Ghar (Old age home for women), P-57, Ranganath Pukur Colony,

Thakurpukur.

In this camp, 15 women were examined. ECG and Bone Mineral Density check up was done.

All the patients were examined by Dr Bipasa Sen and Dr Nirmala Pipara. Needful advices were

given. 75% patients had osteoporosis, 25% patients had Ostopenia,40% had cardiac problems

and abnormal ECGs. Free Medicine were distributed to all.

Ageing Gracefully"

Jalandhar chapter organized a CME on 29 the Jan.'2019 and marked it as cervical cancer screening

activity. There were two speakers. Dr. Maninderbir Kaur , srl lab in-charge, from Amritsar talked on

latest tests and trends on cervical screening. Second lecture was on perimenopausal aesthetic

dilemmas and solutions by Dr. Puneet Pasricha, plastic and cosmetic surgeon from Jalandhar. Both the

talks we're very interesting and interactive. Attended by 35 members who listened to both the talks with

full attention and was followed by an equally inquisitive interaction.

On 14 th Feb CME was conducted by Gurugram IMS, 40 members attended .Role of micronised

progesteron in HRT was discussed , all came in red and exchanged Valentine gifts

VILLAGE Health camp at Kanchanpur, Bidapur

PATNA Menopause Society organized a village health camp at Kids International Public

School, Kanchanpur, Bidupur ( District Vaishali). It is a remote village across the Ganga bridge

, 30-35 km from PATNA. It takes about 1.5 hours to reach at this place due to traffic on Ganga

bridge and rough road ahead.

Activities done -

6. Bone & joint related problems were dealt by Dr Rabindra Narain Singh - a leading

Orthopedic surgeon of Bihar.

Many senior and junior Ob -Gy from Patna, Hajipur and Bidupur joined hands in this noble

venture.

We Have planned to do such activity in another village GORAUL on the request of villagers

and BDO of Goraul. It’s 25-30 km far from Bidupur.

They were so happy that BDO mr PREMRAJ made me promise to hold next camp at goraul.

It was successful event.

diagnosis, treatment & vaccination. Breast cancer: Completely curable if diagnosed in stage I

or II by self breast examination and screening mammogram. Under the aegis of Indian

menopause society JODHPUR, FOGSI & ISCCP, inner wheel club jodhpur took the initiative for

conducting CME and public awareness forum at Umaid hospital on 24 February 2019. Col. C.

Obstetrics and Gynaecology GMC Patiala. About 36 perimenopausal and menopausal women were examined. A

health awareness talk was given regarding diet, walk, exercise, regular check up. GPE, Ht , Wt ,BMI.pulse BP,

taken. Breast exam and PAP smear was done. Specialist services were given by Medicine,

orthopaedics,Psychiatry , Pathology and eye dept . Women were given calcium, vit D3, analgesics, albendazole,

iron, and other reqd medicines.
