Eureka Section Professional Engineers in California Government (PECG) members have shown strength through adversity in 2020, as seen through the adaptation of how we do business, the many member accomplishments, the ratification of a new bargaining unit contract, and the continued involvement of the section board.

Union Activities 2020-2022 Contract Ratification
The PECG Bargaining Team reached an agreement with the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) on the 2020-2022 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of employees in Bargaining Unit 9 (PECG). The agreement provides for a 3% general salary increase on July 1, 2022 but also includes a Personal Leave Program (PLP) in order to avoid imposed furloughs. Employees will be subject to two PLP days (16 hours per month) for up to two years. However, the agreement includes provisions that could allow the PLP to end early and for PECG members to receive the general salary increase earlier should California receive additional federal funding or the fiscal condition of the State improves.
PECG members voted overwhelmingly to ratify the new MOU by a margin of 97.8% to 2.2%. The PECG Bargaining Team thanks you for the vote of confidence and your support throughout negotiations conducted under difficult circumstances.
Eureka Section Quarterly Meeting The Eureka Section of PECG held a virtual quarterly member meeting on November 13, 2020 using Zoom. The officers for 2020/21 were sworn in and introduced. Ted Toppin, President of Blanning & Baker and Executive Director of PECG, presented to the Eureka membership and fielded questions about the organization and the newest MOU.

To help keep you safe and healthy during the pandemic, PECG is making PECG-branded face masks and hand sanitizer available free of charge to PECG members. PECG will ship one mask and one bottle of hand sanitizer to all members by request. An email with the request form link was sent to all members in the 11/6/2020 Weekly Update, or contact [email protected] to request a new link.

In lieu of the annual holiday “Goodie Day,” the Eureka Section of PECG is providing the section with holiday cheer by partnering with locally-operated Ramone’s Bakery and Café to provide each member with some goodie options for the holidays.
