Facebook pages for Church of England updates. We are working at ways of keeping everyone informed and up to date.

Notices

The Vicar will be taking a break from 9th to 23rd August. During that time should you need any assistance or have any queries please do contact the Churchwardens. Opening up of Church At our PCC meeting on 3rd August we agreed a timeline for re-opening the church for our church members and parishioners. Providing the government regulations still permit use of church buildings we will be doing the following: Open for Private Prayer – Tuesday mornings 11am – 12pm from Tuesday 18th August 2020. This will be on a pre-arranged basis so you will need to inform us that you will be attending on the Tuesday morning and we are currently devising a ticketing system (which will be free) through iKnow, which will let us know whose coming each Tuesday and a means of being able to ‘track and trace’ should we need it. Information is available on our church website. All personal information will be confidentially kept in order to be GDPR compliant. Opening for Sunday Worship – from Sunday 13th September 10.30am. This will be a very different service and set-up to what we have been used to. We will be adhering to social distancing

rules and you will be guided as to where you will be able to sit. As from 8th August the government has announced that face masks must be worn in places of worship so please do bring one with you. Our service will be shorter than we’re used to with no singing and for now, it will be a service of Morning Prayer/Service of the Word without Holy Communion. Again, we will have a system of signing you in so that we can ‘track and trace’ should it be required. All personal information will be confidentially kept in order to be GDPR compliant. Baptisms We will be contacting all those who have booked baptisms pre-Covid closure to re-arrange their dates and will begin to take bookings for future Baptisms. This is, of course, providing the regulations don’t change. The services will be very different to previously as we will adhere to strict social distancing procedures with a Maximum of 30 people as the guidance indicates. We will have a ‘track and trace’ procedure in hand. All personal information will be confidentially kept in order to be GDPR compliant. Funerals We are able to have a service in church as long as we are compliant with the regulations of 30 people maximum and social distancing compliant. We have had one funeral following this procedure recently and it helped us to make sure our procedures are to the best of our abilities compliant. A ‘track and trace’ procedure was in place for that. All personal information was confidentially secured in order to be GDPR compliant. The Vicar, Wardens and PCC will continue to work as hard as we can to ensure that

our building can be used whilst keeping everybody as safe as we can. For those who are at possible risk Please be aware of Government guidelines that those who are shielding or over the age of 70 should stay at home and avoid situations that might put them at risk. If you fall into this category please think very carefully about attending public worship. Toilets Please note that the toilets will not be available for use during this time. So do bear that in mind as you come to church (our services will be approximately half an hour in length). Thanks from the Vicar The Vicar would like to thank all those who have worked so hard to get us to this stage and would particularly like to give a huge thanks to our Standing Committee (Wardens – Dave and Peter, Vice Chair - Helen and PCC Secretary – Anthea) for all the work they have done behind the scenes particularly with cleaning and getting the building prepared for opening). Let us all continue to pray that the effects of C-19 will get less and less and that effective life-saving treatments will be found.

Church of England concerning face

coverings

(This is the latest on what we might expect once we open our building).

The Church of England has now published guidance which can be accessed here:

https://www.churchofengland.org/coronavirus

The key document to read is entitled face coverings – and in which the position is set out as follows

We strongly advise that face coverings should be worn by all those attending a place of worship, including ministers, worshippers, staff, volunteers, contractors and visitors, where there may be other people present; remembering that they are mainly intended to protect other people, not the wearer, from coronavirus COVID-19 and that they are not a replacement for physical distancing and regular hand washing. Daily reflection and readings Every Morning, Revd Angela has been giving a daily reflection, which she has posted onto the WhatsApp Church prayer and support group. You can now listen to the daily readings via our website, but the page can only show the last 5 readings. If you are still having issues please do let me know. Thanks Peter Monthly Giving Due to the current situation we are not making our monthly donation. PCC Minutes: July’s PCC have now been loaded for you to read at your leisure please log into your Iknow account to view them Daily Hope phone line Daily Hope offers music, prayers and reflections as well as full worship services from the Church of England at the end of a telephone line.

Take some time to reflect

What unites us is far greater than what divides us. Paul asks rhetorically if God has rejected the Hebrew people by offering salvation to the Gentiles, and answers no. Jesus initially refuses to help a Canaanite woman’s daughter until she presses her case. Then Jesus joyfully heals the daughter, marveling at the mother’s faith. We are all bound together in the unconditional love of God.

1. This Gospel reading leads us to open our eyes to see background, behaviour and belief in a new way.

2. The Canaanite woman’s faith opens the door to God’s healing work in her life, despite the apparent obstacle of her background.

3. The Pharisees’ insistence on their tradition has become more important to them than a living faith – and indeed has closed the door to God’s work in their lives.

4. We are invited to renew our faith in God for working in our lives whoever we are, whatever our circumstances.
