Firstly: Accuracy in the art of detection

deception can be increased by studying and

properly understanding what to look out for.

Accuracy must never be confused with

We have encountered many students since

2009 that claim to be excellent “deception

We offered our Video test to 2 “experts” who

referred to themselves as “Master-Level” Micro

Expressionists. Needless to say, they both failed

the Video test.

Not only did they fail, but out of 12 videos

neither of them could correctly differentiate

between the lies and the truth. Yes, you read

that correctly – not a single video was correctly

identified by either of these “experts”.

investigate and falsely accuse you when in fact

you were telling the truth and you were

innocent?

In the MEX.1 study programme you will learn

about Micro Expressions, the 7 Universal

Emotions, Nonverbal Communication & Body

Language.

The importance of understanding and correctly

interpreting Micro Expressions and Nonverbal

Communication cannot be stressed enough. It is

by no means possible to immediately be accurate

with truth, lie & deception detection without first

understanding the basic fundamentals.

Being able to identify a Micro Expression does

not mean that you will be able to correctly

interpret if a person is busy lying, misleading or

deceiving you. They may be terrified just by the

thought of being interviewed by you.

In this course the difference between lying about

feelings and feelings about lying will be discussed

for a greater understanding of the subject.

People can show fear, but it can be the fear being

caught when they did something wrong or the

fear of being disbelieved when the person thinks

he or she may be falsely accused.

Misinterpretations may have devastating effects

for the person being interviewed.

It is never our aim to try and make it difficult for

our students. We however need to be sure that

you have a good overall understanding of what

you have learned.

We monitor and follow progress with all the

students. You are not just supplied with study

MEX.1 Study Programme Difficulty and

The MEX.1 study programme is not difficult but

may be intensive with regards to the amount of

In the MEX.2 study programme you will learn

different factors involved. The different areas

around Truth, Lie & Deception Detection will be

covered.

MEX.2 Study Programme Difficulty and

Duration:

The MEX.2 study programme is more intense

with regards to the amount of information. It

can be completed between 3 to 6 months

depending on the student. (Max. 24 Months.)

MEX.2 includes a Video test where the student

will have to analyse different performers to

determine if they are answering in a truthful

manner or not. Here the student will have to rely

intensively on Micro Expressions identifying and

recognition techniques.

How the Video works:

100 Baseline questions were asked to each of

them. They did not know or saw the questions

before the time.

You will see on some of the questions in the

baseline behaviour segment that the word

"LYING" appears and flashes in red. When you

see this, it means that they were instructed by

means of a flashing light to lie on the spot.

Again, they didn't know when the light would be

flashed. A normal question was asked to them

and they had to lie immediately. This can also

assist you to see how they present themselves

when lying on the spot when they weren't

expecting to tell a lie.

Also, I asked them questions where you can

assess their eye-directions as well as

rehearsed questions with supplied answers.

A rehearsed answer is where the correct

answer was given to them before the

questions were asked. This will help you to

see how they present themselves when they

are not remembering or creating an answer

in their minds. Rehearsed answers may

sometimes be answered more quickly,

because they are expecting the question and

already know the answer.

On the other hand, when they have to

answer truthfully, they may tend to answer

in normal time and when they have to lie

they may take a fraction of a second longer

to answer because they are first creating an

answer in their minds.

The performers were shown random videos and

I then asked them 20 questions about each

video. They answered once with an undecided

answer, told the truth, as well as lied on one

answer.

For example: They were asked - Did you enjoy

this video? They then answered for example

with a "YES", a "NO" and then with an "I DON’T

KNOW". One of the three answers is the truth.

Based on what you have learned from them in

the Baseline Behaviour Questions you must then

determine which answer the truth is.

You need to identify the truthful answer and

write the answer down on the answer sheet.

For example, your answer that you fill in on the
