  • TEL AVIV INSPIRED WINES

    In 1951 the Harkham Family were amongst the first pioneers of Israel’s renowned wine region, Zichron Yackov, where they lived for 16 years. Aziza Harkham, matriarch of the Harkham family, with no electricity and scarce running water used to make natural food and wine for the family from fresh produce and grapes that she had grown.

    In 2005 Terry, Efrem and Richard Harkham decided to buy Windarra Estate and winery in the Hunter Valley in a move to get back to their roots.

    They focus on very small batches with extremely high quality. Their own vineyard is farmed using organic methods.

    Through minimal intervention in the winemaking process they are able to express most clearly the amazing terroir driven flavours that the Hunter Valley is renowned for. All their fruit is carefully handpicked and sorted to eliminate rot, unripe fruit and any other diseases, so they can make a style of wine from 100% naturally fermented grape juice.

    AR PEPE

    A story that began in 1860- when a dedicated Pelizzatti decided to make Nebbiolo on the steep foothills of the Alps in Valtellina. A grape that had gained fame for it’s full bodied Barolo and Barbaresco wines, it can show it’s delicate and soft flavours growing in the very North of Italy. After more than a century of wines beeing mostly sold to “neighbours”; Arturo Pelizzatti Perego took over the vineyard in 1984, hence the name ArPePe. He established the standards that his grandchildren Guido, Isabella, and Emanuele are centering the production around.

    Valtellina is located in a valley of an old glacier parallel to the chains of the Alps. Terraces so steep they can only be hand harveseted, facing South for the best exposure to the sun. All the grapes are carefully picked in small baskets to avoid crushing them, and than each bunch is rigorously examined to make sure every berry is at it’s most ripe.

    ArPePe”s philosophy is “the right waiting time”, for the maceration and maturation. This slowly alllows the wines to bring forward their most subtle flavours, and lets the them age in cellars for as long as 10 years.
