There were a number of Salesforce hiring challenges as a result of the COVID-19 environment over 2020 and early 2021, however 89% hired over the period
92% of Consulting managers hired during 2020 and 86% of End User managers made new hires
28% of Consulting managers surveyed said that they found balancing Salesforce resources with Salesforce projects was their biggest challenge during 2020 and 2021, and 26% said moving fast enough to secure talent

In the End User space, the Salesforce Developer role is the hardest to fill. 32% of managers surveyed told us this, which is consistent with last year’s data

Salesforce Teams are Growing
59% of Salesforce managers anticipate growth in their teams in the next 12 months. Whilst this is down from 83% last year, the forecasted team growth itself is larger

Hiring Decisions
Salesforce managers surveyed ranked Salesforce certifications held as being the least important factor when making hiring decisions
Consulting managers cited culture fit as being the most important factor overall, with 51% ranking it as their top priority, consistent with last year’s findings
End User managers have relegated culture fit into the third most important factor when making hiring decisions, from the top spot last year. In 2021, specific Salesforce product knowledge has taken precedence (32%), followed by communication skills (27%)

Within Consulting practices 17% of managers surveyed said that annually, less than 10% of their workforce are hired with no prior Salesforce experience. This has dropped from 31% in 2020

77% of End User managers have to pay more to attract Salesforce professionals to their organisation, when compared to similar skill sets

A Move to Specialism? Upskilling
51% of Consulting managers reported having Salesforce cloud/product specialisations within their team, whereas 26% hire only cross-cloud talent, and will continue to hire cross-cloud rather than specialist consultants

This has been a change from only 27% last year having Salesforce cloud/product specialisations in their teams, and 46% were hiring cross-cloud rather than specialist consultants. This indicates a move towards cloud/product specialisation
