2021 FALL ENSEMBLE AUDITIONS OBOE PLAN A: LIVE AUDITIONS (This is the planned format unless you hear otherwise by early August, 2021…) Auditions for placement in University of Nebraska-Lincoln fall semester concert ensembles (Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Symphonic Band) will occur during the first week of the semester as noted below. All students wishing to play in a UNL ensemble must audition on the scheduled audition date. All OBOE music majors must prepare all four of the excerpts for the audition. You still may be considered to play an auxiliary role in one of the ensembles – such as English horn. If you are a MINOR or NON-MAJOR oboist, you are only required to prepare excerpts #1 and #2. HOWEVER, if you wish to be considered for orchestra or wind ensemble for oboe, you MUST prepare all oboe excerpts regardless of degree. Please listen to recordings of each excerpt (online or located in the Music Library in Westbrook Music Library—not on reserve) so you choose appropriate tempi, know the style, etc. Arrive before 5:00pm and be prepared to play (instruments together and warmed up). PLAN B : PRE-RECORDED AUDITIONS (Pending any Covid protocol decisions that disable us from having live auditions; please see the UNL Bands website for the most up-to-date information.)
