IV. Reports A. District Officers District Superintendent Report

The General Superintendent for Africa Dr J.K Warrick, Regional Director Dr. Filimao

Chambo, The Africa Middle Field Rev StephaneTibi, The NCM coordinator for the Africa

Central Field, Rev Celestin Chishibanji , The Missionary in Madagascar Rev David Johnson,

Pastors, Delegates and church members. I greet you all in the Name of our Lord and Savior

Jesus Christ.

How wonderful to see God doing His work through us, not only pastors but all members

of the Church of the Nazarene all around Madagascar fulfill our mission making disciples

Christ likeness.

I always remember the word of our Lord Jesus Christ in the gospel of John 5.17 saying,

“My Father is always at his work to this very day and I, too, am working”. That reminds me

13

that our God is doing his job according to his plan; He is never tired or takes rest. How

about you and I?

This is what we have done from November 2015 to October 2016:

A. For the growth of the district

a. As a missional church, 24 of the active churches among the 26 presented the

gospel at the church level and as results, 460 were converted. From these new converts,

120 became new Nazarenes. We congratulate the Church at Andabatoara Morondava (25

new members), Soavimbahoaka (19 new members), Anjanahary (12 new members) and

Ambatobe (10 new members) because they are the top 4 on receiving new members by

profession of faith. Our last year full membership was 1375 and now it is 1469, which gives

us a growth of 07% for all around Madagascar. But we lost 43 Nazarenes moving to other

denominations, which represent 03%; that is very low compare to the year 2014 and 2015.

See on the chart the gain of the district in membership:

b. We praise the Lord for the thrust that we did in Toamasina from August 23 to

August 29 2016 with 26 Nazarenes: 2 from Nosy Be, 24 from Antananarivo. You know the

sacrifices that they had to make during one year to save money for the bus fare and food:

80 000ar. More for people from Nosy Be. But our work was not in vain. We presented the

gospel there in 3 places: Tanamakoa, Ankirihiry, Mangarano. The gospel was presented to

more than 95 people and 50 people accepted Jesus as their personal savior. 6 of these new

converts came to Sunday service and 5 were men.

c. All the 16 churches in Antananarivo did a thrust in 4 existing churches:

Andohatanjona, Ambohitrarahaba, Morarano and Analamahitsy. As an average, around

40 Nazarenes from these 16 churches did a door to door evangelism and street

evangelism thru skits and call. That is a way for our church to be known and a mean to

burn the local church to be on fire to reach more people for Christ.

B. For the Sunday attendance

In the chart, we see the Sunday attendance in 2015 and 2016.

15

In general, the attendance decreases a little bit with a difference of 25. Among the 23

churches, 17 had their attendances drop off and only 6 had their attendances increased.

That show us the work that we need to focus more.

C. For church planting

We set as a goal that each church will plant a daughter church. Among the 27

churches, only 2 churches can plant a new church. One in Namahora for the church in

Morondava.

In August, we decided to start a new church in a new area, especially the major town in

Madagascar. In September, we sent Pastor Florine Razafindramanga to start the church in

Fianarantsoa, the fourth largest town in Madagascar. She is a street kid’s parent and hears

the call to be a pastor. She already finished her pastoral studies and is a candidate for

ordination. The mission and all the churches support her on a monthly allocation during one

year. Next year, we will start in another town and do the same support.

D. For the next 2017

Our goal is that

Each church will plant at least one daughter church. We will have 26 new

churches.

Each Nazarene will wins one person to Christ so our membership will be 2 800.

We will train 26 new pastors

We will go to Fianarantsoa to do the evangelism thrust on the first week of August

2017 during one week. We encourage each church to send 2 delegates for that

mission trip and start to save money for the transportation and food.

We will continue the thrust in Antananarivo to start new churches in the range of

5km doing door to door evangelism, street skits evangelism and Film ministry.

Respectfully submitted,

Rev Richard Ravelomanantsoa

4. SDMI Chairman Report

Rev. Celestin CHISHIBANJI,Compassionate Ministries Field Coordinator Rev. Richard RAVELOMANANTSOA, District Superintendant of Madagascar District Reverends/Reverendes and Pastors Delegates from different churches Ladies and gentlemen I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

One of the goal of SDMI is to reach the largest number of lost people for Christ. To do that, every second Saturday of the month, all churches in Tanacome together and have time to reach the unreached people for Christ and bringing them into fellowship, teaching them to obey God’s Word, developing Christlike, preparing them to be members in the church and equipping them for appropriate Christian ministries.

The SDMI has helped the church to have Sunday school for children, youth and adults. For Madagascar, the church of the Nazarene is the only church that is able to organize that because Sunday School plays a very important role to accomplish the mission of the church which is“to make Christlike disciples in the nations”.

SDMI hasemphasizedthe importance of studying and obeying God’s Word. In that regard, all the church of the Nazarene around Madagascar could learn the method of telling Story to increase the time of learning God’s Word. We have small groups of telling story during the week. By teaching the Word faithfully helps the believers to stand and I see more people became faithfully engage in ministry. So, in one word, the church is growing in maturity this year in midst of difficulties. To God is the glory alone! Submitted by Rev. Therese RAVELOMANANTSOA

To Rev Celestin Chishibanji, NCM coordinator for Africa Middle Field,

Rev Richard Ravelomanantsoa, District Superintendant of Madagascar

Glory to God for I can share my testimony with you, because of God’s love and mercy in my life and my family. In June and July, my family and I faced a big trouble: someone accused my family and want to destroy my family and put us in jail. But we hold on God and believe in what He said in Romans 8:31-37 So when the judgment day came, we won, not because of our knowledge but because of God’s power. He is love and He fights the battle, who can stand against. When we thought to buy the land for the church, there were many obstacles in the community and also in the papers. To fight that struggle, we use prayer and fasting. We give all the glory to God because we got the land. Our bible verse is in Joshua 24:14-15 I want to thank those who prayed for us, especially the DS and his family.

God blesses you all

6. NYI President

To Rev Celestin Chishibanji, NCM coordinator for Africa Middle Field,

Rev Richard Ravelomanantsoa, District Superintendant of Madagascar

I greet all of you in the name of Jesus Christ.

Glory only be to God that enables me to present this report. We give thanks to God

as we had the full support of the district and this allowed us to undertake several

activities throughout the year as follow:

1. General cleaning followed by interactive games and evangelization: we had

108 participants, 86 already youth members and 22 new comers.

2. We started to have a youth section at the church in Toamasina for the first

time with 10 members

3. Evangelization in each church surrounding Antananarivo and thru the thrust

done by the district each second Saturday of the month.

Respectfully submitted by Heriniaina

7. Compassionate ministry report

Let’s talk about compassionate ministries as life style to practice what Jesus did when He was on earth. He told us to “go and do the same” (Luke 10: 25-37). This was a way for Jesus to practice holistic and transformational ministry in order to change someone’s life for social development. For Madagascar District, our approach is based on evangelism for children, youth and adults. At the street kid’s center, eight churches in Antananarivo have been helping to reach out the street children and ministering to them outside the five days that they are not at the center. They are not children by themselves; they have brothers and sisters as well as mothers and or fathers. But they are living in the margins because the society where they are at rejected them even the other existing churches rejected them. Only the church of the Nazarene opens the hands to help them. Among the 400 children that we are working with, we have 230 families that we are ministering. So, the street

kids center is like day shelter where the children find help, get food, joy and love. They can attend school and get some clothes. The church at Anjanahary, where the street kids center has been ministering with youth by helping them with English club and tutoring class. Before that, they have prayer meeting, praise and worship and learning God’s Word. Once a year, the church has collected clothing and gives it to the poor. The church in Nosy Be has started a crèche where ministering to 24 children from 2 to 5 years old has been taking place. They provide teaching and feeding the kids. The church has helped some students with tutoring class on Saturday afternoon. They have also praise and worship after that. The church in Toamasina has been ministering to 20 children, to youth and adolescents women with the project “Holistic Welfare of the community” .The children get help for schooling, feeding and spiritual care. The church has been helping those youth and adolescents women to promote health reproduction and non-risky maternity. The church at Ivato has ministering to children, youth and families. The church has been helping the needy family to pay the registration school fee. They provide school supplies. They got grant from the global church through Nazarene Compassionate Ministries and has started a project call ‘MIAHY Project’. The objective is to help 20 families and try to save money to start a multi-function center. Every year, almost the churches have plan to help their children and youth for their studies. Some of them paid the registration fee and/or bought the school supplies. This year, from the school pal-paks from USA, 620 students in our church all-around Madagascar could get school supplies. We thank the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries with the global church who arranged it for us. This is only for God’s glory! Submitted by Rev. Therese RAVELOMANANTSOA
