Well, it’s certainly been awhile since the last newsletter. The covid-19 has elicited every possible emotion that a small business owner like me could have. If you happen to be a friend of mine on face book you know I’ve broken my rule of being apolitical in my posts. I’ve always worried that we might offend someone because of our personal core beliefs and that we needed to be sym-pathetic and empathetic to anyone that is or could be a potential customer. Frankly, I don’t remember a more stressful time and with time on my hands I’ve certainly questioned the politics involved in the handling of this crisis. Let’s start with what’s essential and not essential. There’s certainly lots of debate regarding that, but what I do know is this. I’ve seen real tears of despair from the owners of the businesses on either side of us. One young lady saying to me, “I never ever imagined I would have to stand in a food line to get free groceries.” After that episode I sat in my living room lis-tening to the numbers of people sick and dying. My emotions that day ran from one side of the pendulum to the other. One mo-ment I was angry because our SCUBA shop was mandated to close, thinking it’s nonsense, to the next moment being angry at my-self because I was selfish and self-serving while people are sick and dying. I have come to this conclusion about myself. I have always let my business interests supersede some principles that I hold dear to me. That won’t be the case any longer, my principles will always come first. But that won’t be hard to do because of the nature of what SCUBA does. It brings us ALL together no matter our politics, our religion, or our economic status. How does it do it? Just like this:
Why I love scuba diving. The moment I took my first breath underwater, I knew my whole life had changed and the more I dive, the more I seem to love scuba diving. I love the anticipation at the beginning of every dive. Every time I drop below the surface of the water, the only thing I know for sure that is awaiting me is adventure. Every dive is different – EVERY DIVE. You could be diving the same spot, on the same dive site, 500 times and each one would be different. There could be different animals present, or the same animals exhibiting different behaviors. The currents can change creating a mild drift or a ripping ride. The light breaking the waves on the surface can turn yesterday’s drab looking swim over a patch of reef into today’s stunning kaleidoscope of colors. I love the silence. At no time in my life can I recall getting to spend a totally silent and undisturbed hour with only my own breathing breaking the silence. No cell phones, no TV, no traffic noise, no one talking to you (or at you), and none of the endless cacophony of sounds that makes up our daily routine. Diving is one of the most peaceful and spiritual activities I have ever done, but it is also one of the most exciting. I love looking into the eyes of a sea turtle and seeing them look back at you. I love stalking the reef or the sand looking for creatures so bizarre they would seem to be aliens from another planet taking their vacation under our seas. I love seeing a sunken shipwreck, a giant Manta Ray, a microscopic pygmy seahorse, or a pod of dolphins racing by as I smile in disbelief. I love sharing it with others. I love sharing a beer at the pool bar with new and seasoned divers discussing all we saw that day and all we hope to see in the dives to come. One of the best things about diving is sharing it with other divers. I feel so privileged to be a diver and to share that world with all of you.
God willing, with much hope that financial help isn’t further delayed, we will be back to doing what we love. I can’t guess when that will be or what that will look like. BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT!

MAY 23-30 CAYMAN TRIP UDATE
Unfortunately, the Cayman Islands, like the rest of the world, is closed. There-
fore we had to cancel the trip. Everyone should have received a full refund, if
you haven’t received your check yet please call me and let me know. We tried
to reschedule that trip in February of 2021, but the resort would not honor the
pricing we got because February is in the high season. Therefore, I worked with
our travel advisor and we opted to go to Bonaire in February 2021. Please see
the information about that trip that is located in this newsletter. Also don’t for-
get that our St. Lucia trip is still scheduled for the fall.

The Advanced Open Water Diver Course (AOW) is the next step in
learning advanced skills directly applicable to scuba diving. Frequent-
ly, an AOW card is just the ticket to diving at a variety of more sites.
For example, we know of several places in the Philippines, Malaysia,
Australia, and some wreck sites in Florida who will not let you dive at
certain, more advanced sites, unless you have the AOW or above cer-
tification. The reason is that the operators don't want to risk putting
OW divers into certain advanced level dive conditions such as cur-
rents or deep, blue water, environments. They know that PADI AOW
certified divers have the skills and experience necessary for such
sites.
There are a total of 5 dives necessary to complete the course. The
required 2 Core dives are Deep and Underwater Navigation. You can
choose the remaining 3 Adventure Dives. This course is for newly
certified divers as well as divers with more experience who wish to
expand their knowledge and practical skills. Also, if you don't have
enough time to complete the full AOW course, the Adventure Diver
rating is awarded after completion after any 3 Adventure Dives.
Why should you take the Advanced Open Water Course?
Open Water Divers have learned the basics, the "how" of diving. After
a few dives, there is a need to expand that dive knowledge and learn
practical skills which can increase your enjoyment of diving. Ever sur-
face far away from the boat and have a long surface swim back? With
the Navigation dive, you will learn how to prevent that situation, us-
ing compass as well as natural navigational aids to assist in your un-
derwater journey. For deep diving, there are special concerns, and as
an Open Water Diver, you are certified to dive 18 meters/60 feet.
After completing the AOW course, that level is extended to 30 me-
ters/100 feet.
If you really want to advance your skills and be more comfortable in
the water, taking this course is the way to do it. We have openings
for OUR Beaver lake trips. Give us a call and schedule your course
today!
PADI DEEP DIVER TRAINING
The purpose of the PADI Deep Diver Specialty Course is to
familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organi-
zation, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoy-
ment of diving between the depths of 60 feet to 130 feet.
The Deep Diver specialty course is intended to serve as a
safe, supervised introduction to deeper diving within the
limits of recreational scuba diving.
Now that you have several dives, you
may want to do deeper dives. The
Deep Diver course will get you over
the apprehension of the unknown and
give you more confidence through
knowledge and experience.

Scubapro MK11/C370 Regulator
The Mk11 First Stage Regulator is the per-
fect choice for the recreational diver who
wants the advantage of a diaphragm first
stage for use in temperate waters. Dia-
phragm-based first stages are environmentally sealed so that water
cannot enter the inner mechanism. This first stage comes standard
with the Thermal Insulating System (TIS), which keeps your first stage
from freezing up and malfunctioning in cold water conditions. Addi-
tionally, its over-balanced diaphragm first stage design gives you better
breathing performance at greater depths. he C370 is the newest addi-
tion to Scubapro's family of high performance second stages. Fully ad-
justable, the C370 includes a user adjustable inhalation effort control
knob along with a small coaxial dive/pre-dive lever. The new air bal-
anced C370 is lightweight, breathes easy, offers full user controls and
delivers effortless airflow.
PRICED RIGHT AT $510.00
Scubapro MK17 EVO/G260 Regulator
If you dive deep, dive cold, or often find yourself on silty bottoms or
in less-than-pristine waters, the MK17 EVO/G260 is the regulator
system for you. It also delivers even greater performance in warm
water. The new MK17 EVO is Scubapro's premium high perfor-
mance balanced diaphragm first stage. Engineered specifically for
cold water and harsh environments, its internal components are
completely sealed off from the elements so neither water nor pol-
lution can get inside the chrome-plated marine grade brass body to
foul the mechanism.

BONAIRE DIVI FLAMINGO BEACH RESORT
Bonaire is the Eastern-most Caribbean island in the “ABC” island chain, made up
of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. Located in the Netherlands Antilles (often called
the Dutch Caribbean), the island is a mere 40 miles north of Venezuela. Bonaire
covers 112 square miles, is 24 miles long and 3 to 7 miles across. Long known as
one of the Caribbean's most out-
standing dive destinations, Bonaire
has something for everyone. Beauti-
ful shallow coral gardens teeming
with brightly colored fish life. Dramatic walls of hard and soft corals. A large variety of
unusual marine life such as the timid seahorse and the hard to spot frog fish. The shore
diving in Bonaire is plentiful and easily accessible, allowing the most avid divers the op-
portunity to do as much diving as they want. When not diving, enjoy several top side
attractions such as; hundreds of pink flamingos roaming wild, dramatic desert land-
scapes, picturesque villages, charming people and even a pink beach. For the less active...you can hang out by the hotel’s fresh water
pool and sip a drink with an umbrella, or try your hand at the resorts “barefoot casino”! Whatever your interests - Bonaire will not
disappoint!
The Wisdom 4 continues the tradition of the
Sherwood Scuba Wisdom computer brand.
The most significant difference between the
Wisdom 3 and 4 is Bluetooth integration to
DiverLog+. With the 4 there is no need for a
connecting cable and your laptop or desk-
top. Just a simple synch between your
phone and the Wisdom 4, you can upload all
your settings into the Wisdom 4 or download
all your dives to the DiverLog+ App.

NIGHT DIVER
Who should take this course?
The thought of dipping be-
low the surface at night
seems mysterious, yet so alluring. Although you’ve been scuba
diving at a site many times before, at night you drop into a
whole new world and watch it come to life under the glow of
your dive light. The scene changes as day creatures retire and
nocturnal organisms emerge. If you’ve wondered what hap-
pens underwater after the sun goes down, sign up for the PADI
Night Diver Specialty course.

PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Course
You’ve all seen those divers. You know – the
ones who seem to move through the water
without the slightest effort. Those scuba
divers are neutrally buoyant, which means
they don’t sink or float while diving. Achiev-
ing neutral buoyancy is no easy feat, which
is why divers who have mastered the skill
stand apart from the others. If you want to
become neutrally buoyant and become a
better scuba diver, take the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy specialty
course.
