was interested in learning more about the career optionsavailable to musicians in the entertainment world.Carrie shared, "Since I work in music, I invited her to the DisneyStudio Lot where she could see firsthand what part musiciansplay in the industry. She met with one of my colleagues whoexplained how a violinist could make a living. I’m going toconnect her with a few more people who might help answersome of the questions she might have..."

It was a great opportunity for Valerie to explore a potential careerfield and for both mentors to engage with her and learn moreabout each other as well. We love when our mentors and theirmentees get the chance to collaborate and expose MOSTescholars to new and exciting things.

INROADS College Internship Program application is now open!! Why is it a goodidea to apply for this program? "For over four decades, INROADS has helpedbusinesses gain greater access to diverse talent through continuous leadershipdevelopment of outstanding ethnically diverse students and placement of thosestudents in internships at many of North America’s top corporations, firms andorganizations." - INROADS

One of our MOSTe alumna, Yosselin Melgar, as well as one of our formermentors, Rosie Perez, both were INROADS interns. This is what Yosselin had tosay about it: "This is a great program to get your foot in the door of CorporateAmerica. They have all kinds of partnerships and MOSTe girls can be placedanywhere in the corporate structure – from HR to Finance to Marketing to Legal. The program also teaches really invaluable professional skills. I did it and so didRosie. I got my big first internship at Mattel through them and got paid really well.We should definitely encourage all of our girls to apply because corporateAmerica has a whole gamut of opportunities and can accommodate all sorts ofcareer interests. They can apply as early as freshmen year of college."

On Saturday, February 2nd, MOSTe college students, alumnae and Yalegraduates had the privilege of hearing from not one, but twopowerhouse change makers at the third event in our "Meet the ChangeMakers" series. What initially was meant as an opportunity to honorone individual, turned into a wonderfully insightful and inspiringconversation between Araceli Campos, Executive Director of theMiguel Contreras Foundation and Chair of the LA County Women &Girls Initiative and MOSTe alumna and fellow Yale graduate, MarisolLeon, Deputy Attorney General for the California Department ofJustice.

Together, they engaged in an honest discussion about their individualjourneys, the obstacles they faced along the way, offered advice forwhat to do in the face of adversity and emphasized the importance ofself-care along the way to achieving your dreams.

Thank you to both Ms. Campos and Ms. Leon for taking the time tospeak at this event and for all that you do within your communities tomake a difference and effect positive change. You are trulyinspirations.
