The Cicero-Berwyn Education Initiative/NEIU-CCAS continues to

strengthen its collaborative partnership with Morton via multi-tiered

approach to academic support, enrichment opportunities, parent

involvement, college readiness, and professional development. The

2015 school year included a number of special events for students

& parents.

La Iniciativa para la Educación de Cicero - Berwyn / NEIU - CCAS

continúa fortaleciendo su colaboración con Morton HS a través de

múltiples niveles de apoyo académico, oportunidades de

enriquecimiento , participación de los padres , preparación para la

universidad , y el desarrollo profesional . El año escolar 2015 incluía

una serie de eventos especiales para los alumnos y padres de

familia.

B.L.A.S.T. Program – Building Leadership And Success Together

The After-School Program B.L.A.S.T. is a creative space within each Morton school building, where all students are welcome. Homework Help/Tutoring is available with College Tutors, many of whom are Morton Alum themselves. BLAST Students learn about college and career options, meet artists from around the world, participate in experiential field trips, and practice new academic, social, and critical thinking skills. Students who are involved in after-school programs and enrichment in addition to their regular school day are more well-rounded, develop confidence and positive self-image. All are welcome to join at anytime!

Arte y Cultura

Celebrating art and culture is the foundation of the programs in Morton, as supported by NEIU Artists and program specialists. Students can work during Supervisory or After-School, on arts-integration projects – which are often connected to classroom subjects and other world perspectives. “Lo que me gusta más es la conexión de los alumnos – no todo es arte – me platican de otras cosas de la vida, de sus familias, y me gusta ver como se abren [la perspectivas].

Hablamos sobre oportunidades del trabajo y carreras posibles para cuando reciben su

21st CCLC Community Partnerships Community partnerships are established in order to develop programming that meets the needs to the community and families that we serve.

16th Street Theater, provided Teaching Artists who facilitated a Theater/Improvisational workshop for students to learn and practice acting skills; CSS (Community Support Services Inc.) provided informational sessions on “successful post-High School transitions” for families of students with special needs, and hands-on enrichment activities.

sistema de Educación y los pasos a la

Universidad. También asisten a paseos familiares

para tener nuevas experiencias y para fortalecer el

CHARLA Cultura – Herencia – Arte – Recreo – Lenguaje – Amistad

Cinco de Mayo fue una celebración y el inicio de un

nuevo espacio - CHARLA en Morton Freshman

Center. Más de cien estudientes participaron en

actividades de arte, música, cultura incluyendo

cómo hacer guacamole y diversas salsas chile!

CHARLA reconce la importancia de ser bilingüe.

La Academia del Verano / Summer Academy B.L.A.S.T. Summer Extension Program takes place on Mon/Wed/Fri from 9am to

1:30pm at the Morton Freshman Center, starting June 10th through June 29th, 2015.

Bus transportation available from both Morton West and Morton East (pick-up at

8:45am and return by 1:45pm each day of program). Every day is a Field Trip!
