Mineral Resources Superintendent Survey (Chief Surveyor) D-Upper (Ref. No. 21394/1)

This is a Chapter 17 legal appointment in terms of the Mine, Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996). The incumbent will lead the Survey team in providing a safe and integrated survey service in accordance with company standards. Responsibilities include mineral resources management by measuring and reporting production results.Determine the survey database fo mining, plant stockpiles and updating of DMR plans. Compile survey reports with weekly and monthly stock reconciliation. Ensure the mining department is provided with mine plans and layouts.

The selected candidate will hold a Mine Surveyor’s Certifi cate of Competency. A degree or Diploma in Mine Surveying will be advantageous. 5 years’ relevant experience, preferably 2 years’ experience in a management role. Registration with PLATO and membership of the Institute of Mine Surveyors of South Africa.

Mineral Resources Superintendent (Rock Engineer) D-Upper (Ref. No. 21394/2)

This is a Chapter 17 legal appointment in terms of the Mine, Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996). The incumbent will provide mine designs and mining optimisation services and solutions to rock engineering challenges with the purpose of maximising safety, maintaining health standards and profi tability within the business unit. Identify, review and make recommendations to reduce or limit potential fall of ground hazards. Reduce or eliminate rock fall hazards by means of ground monitoring instrumentation. Compile weekly and monthly reports to relevant stakeholders. Investigeate new rock engineering technologies and developments that may infl uence the safety or economics of the business unit.

The selected candidate will hold a Chamber of Mines Rock Mechanics Certifi cate. A Degree in Geology or Mining Engineering will be advantageous. 5 years’ relevant experience, preferably with 2 years’ experience in a managerial position. Registration with SANIRE and membership of SAIMM.

Human Resources Superintendent Operations D-Upper (Ref. No. 21394/3)

The incumbent initiate HR interventions in the short and medium term and strategic planning in order to assist the organisation in attaining its objectives. Areas of focus include labour management, talent management, time and attendance, contractor’s management, disability management, communication, stakeholder relationships and statistical reporting.

The selected candidate will hold a relevant Degree or Diploma as well as a Valid Certifi cate of Fitness with at least 6 years’ relevant experience, preferably 2 years’ experience in a management position.

Maintenance Specialist-Trackless (Engineering) D-Lower (Ref. No. 21394/4)

The incumbent will continuously monitor, improve and report adherence to maintenance processes in a safe manner and in accordance with the business blueprints. This will include participating in risk assessments, signifi cant incident investigations and fi nding ways of improving equipment reliability/availability as well as planned and physical maintenance. Undertake preventative maintenance, ensure maintenance schedules are managed effectively, availability, enforce safety systems, mobilise resources to attend to maintenance and breakdowns on trackless mobile machinery and align the maintenance effort with production priorities.

The selected candidate will hold a Degree/National Diploma Mech/Elec and have at least 4 years’ relevant maintenance trackless experience. Knowledge of SAP PM maintenance is required.

Mineral Resources Practitioner Strata Control C-Upper (Ref. No. 21394/5)

The incumbent will identify and locate geological features by means of ground monitoring instrumentation. Investigate fall of ground occurrences and adverse rock conditions and make support recommendations. Assess operations and processes carried out by production personnel underground.

The ideal candidate will hold a Chamber of Mines Strata Control Certifi cate, and must have at least 2 years’ relevant experience. Registration with SANIRE will be advantageous.

SHEQ Practitioner – Ventilation C-Upper (Ref. No. 21394/6)

The incumbent will ensure compliance to the Mine Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996).organisational requirements and other elated procedures by conducting inspections and audits. Further areas of focus include complying with SHEQ requirements, utilising information management systems, generating SHEQ system reports, conducting routine ventilation measurements and adhoc hygiene surveys. Analyse the SHEQ information obtained to identify trends and recommend appropriate action. Conduct and facilitate incident investigations according to legal requirements and organisational needs.

The selected candidate will hold a Grade 12, an Intermediate Occupational Hygiene Certifi cate, and at least 5 years’ relevant experience, preferably with 2 years in a supervisory role. A valid Code 8 driver’s licence.

Rustenburg – As reported in last week’s front page of the Platinum Weekly newspaper, an ATM bombing incident occurred at the Phokeng Shell garage on Wednesday, 15 June 2016 at approximately 01h00. In the meantime, the Phokeng Police provided ad-ditional information regarding the incident. The ATM bombers held the petrol attendees hostage, instructing them to lie face down on the ground; and thereafter started charging the explosives at two of the ATMs. The Police, on patrol in the area, approached the ga-rage and as soon as they realised the situation they faced, a shoot-out with the suspects ensued. During the shootout with the Police, the suspects managed to get away in an unknown black vehicle. They also got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. No arrests have been made as yet.
