Zubiri RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING MATH ATHLETES FROM XAVIER SCHOOL, PHILIPPINE SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL, MAKATI HOPE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, AND PAREF SOUTH RIDGE SCHOOL FOR BRINGING HOME 3 GOLD, 7 SILVER, AND 17 BRONZE MEDALS IN THE WORLD MATH TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP HELD IN INCHEON, SOUTH KOREA ON NOVEMBER 23 TO 26, 2016 WHEREAS, the Senate of the Philippines has in several occasions paid tribute to outstanding Filipinos for bringing pride and glory to the country by becoming champions in international academic competitions; WHEREAS, young math wizards who form the Philippine contingent to the World Math Team Championship made the country proud when they brought home 3 gold, 7 silver, and 17 bronze medals from the recently concluded mathematics olympiad held in Incheon, South Korea on November 23 to 26, 2016; WHEREAS, the World Math Team Championship is an annual international mathematics competition that promotes cooperation among participants, and provides the opportunity for students to work collaboratively; WHEREAS, the recognition earned by our students show that with proper training, Filipinos can excel in academic competitions and best their foreign counterparts; WHEREAS, the impressive show of talent and skills displayed by our students should be taken as a challenge to improve and strengthen our educational system and establish the Philippines as a powerhouse of competitive mathematicians. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, to congratulate and commend math athletes from Xavier School, Philippine Science High School, Makati Hope Christian School, and PAREF Southridge School for bringing home 3 gold, 7 silver, and 17 bronze medals in the World Math Team Championship held in Incheon, South Korea on November 23 to 26, 2016, namely: GOLD MEDAL AWARDEES Advanced Division - Sedrick Scott Keh from Xavier School, Raphael Villaluz and Rafael Jose Santiago both from Philippine Science High School SILVER MEDAL AWARDEES Advanced Division: Lorenzo Jaime Y.
