year to become the first woman fighter pilot to take part in India's biggest ceremonial event

on January 26, officials said on Monday. She will be a part of the Indian Air Force's (IAF's)

tableau that will showcase mock-ups of the light combat aircraft, light combat helicopter and

the Sukhoi-30 fighter plane. She is currently posted at an airbase in Rajasthan where she flies

the MiG-21 Bison fighter plane.

Kanth is also one of the first women fighter pilots in the IAF. She, along with Avani Chaturvedi

and Mohana Singh, was inducted into the IAF as the first women fighter pilots in 2016. Ten

women have been commissioned as fighter pilots after an experimental scheme for their

induction into the IAF’s combat stream was introduced in 2015, a watershed in the air force’s

history.

“We wanted to build a living memorial that would not just be a museum, so we

decided that our meeting and video-conference room would be named the Bjiu

Patnaik Room” explains Cultural and Social Counsellor at the Embassy Hanafi, who

helped execute the project that was completed by Indonesian Ambassador Sidhartho

Suryodipuro this month, before he ended his tenure in Delhi.

Notably, the funds for the bridge were sanctioned from the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of

Resources of the Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). The

project of India's longest arch bridge was sanctioned in 2013 while work started in 2014 and

was finally completed on December 2018. Further, the bridge will connect Bholaganj and

Sohbar to Nongjri. Speaking to media, the chief minister said that the bridge is dedicated to

the progress of the area and will will be a major boost to the tourism sector in the state.

plant at its ferro alloy plant in Chandrapur in Maharashtra, according to an official.

Mukesh Kumar, the Director of Steel Research & Technology Mission of India (SRTMI) told

that the plan is in line with the government's aim to reduce the country's dependence on

import for crude oil besides addressing the issue of carbon emissions.

SRTMI is facilitating SAIL in setting up the gas-to-ethanol plant.

It would cost around Rs 400 crore for SAIL to set up the plant, of which 20 per cent "viable gas

funding" or aid will be provided by the government under the National Policy on BioFuels

2018.
