Todos los derechos reservados. EL PLAN DE DIOS Hoy san Pedro nos habla dos veces. En la primera lectura, escuchamos un pasaje de su sermón en Pentecostés; en la segunda, parte de su primera carta. Antes, un aterrorizado pescador con poca educación quien a menudo decía lo equivocado, el Pedro de ahora habla sobre la verdad que conoce. Todo lo que Jesús había dicho ahora tiene sentido. Su muerte y resurrección eran parte del plan de Dios, y nuestra fe y esperanza pueden centrarse en Dios. TODAY’S READINGS AND REFLECTION First Reading — God has raised the crucified Jesus, who now pours forth the Holy Spirit upon us (Acts 2:14, 22-33). Psalm — Lord, you will show us the path of life (Psalm 16). Second Reading — Our faith and hope are in God, who raised Jesus from the dead (1 Peter 1:17-21). Gospel — Through his words and in the breaking of the bread, the risen Christ made himself known to two disciples on their way to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35). GOD’S PLAN Saint Peter speaks to us twice today. In the first reading, we hear an excerpt from his sermon on Pentecost; in the second, part of his first letter. Once a frightened, uneducated fisherman who often said just the wrong thing, now Peter is speaking what he knows to be true. Everything Jesus had said now makes sense. His death and rising were all part of God’s plan, and our faith and hope can be centered on God. Today’s Gospel tells the story of Jesus’ walk to Emmaus with two of the disciples. Frightened, sad, and confused, the two of them don’t recognize Jesus, who tells them what we heard Peter say above: All this had to happen as part of God’s plan. O Mary, you always shine on our path

as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,

who at the cross took part in Jesus' pain, keeping your faith firm.

You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so

that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after

this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love,

to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus,

who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us,

through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen. Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of

God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger,

Oremos por nuestros enfermos, de nuestra Parroquia, de nuestra

comunidad, de nuestro país y de todo el mundo para que el Señor les dé la Salud de

cuerpo, alma y espíritu. Amén

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo: “Puesto que ustedes llaman Padre a Dios, que juzga imparcialmente la conducta de cada uno según sus obras, vivan siempre con temor filial durante su peregrinar por la tierra”. Lo que estamos viviendo está dando giros impensables antes y que de hecho van a marcar nuestro comportamiento social y en nuestro caso, comunitario. Como Iglesia, sigamos siendo disponibles a lo que nuestras autoridades nos pida. El mundo es como es, y va a ser más notoria la dificultad por quienes tienen un escaso sentido de convivencia social. No falta siempre algo para ilustrar al respecto. El domingo de la semana pasada, el ruido en la avenida era tan fuerte, causado por decenas de motoristas que pasaban en caravana, con ello comprobamos que ellos siguen socializando, salen como si nada pasase, se sigue contaminando el medio ambiente que necesita como nuestras conciencias, de sanación, de purificación. En fin volviendo a lo nuestro, de hecho va a ser diferente la manera de las reuniones de los grupos, los retiros, los servicios de misas, ¿cuál va a ser ‘la distancia social’ cuando vengamos a celebrar la Eucaristía? De hecho ya no podremos recibir la Sangre de Cristo. ¿Por cuánto tiempo tendremos que seguir usando mascarillas y acaso guantes? La conducta de cada uno va a definir el comportamiento comunitario y viceversa. Ya nada será como antes. Que este tiempo encerrados en nuestras viviendas nos siga preparando para colaborar con apertura a las nuevas disposiciones que se van a dar no sólo en nuestra Iglesia sino en nuestro entorno social. El amor filial al nuestro Padre Celestial hará que se vayan definiendo nuevas formas de convivencia sin perder el espíritu de fraternidad. En este tiempo duro ha sido probada y golpeada nuestra fe, varios de nuestra familia parroquial han perdido seres queridos por causa de este virus, aceptación será el primer paso a entender estas muertes. Nuestra querida hermana Mary Crucifix Butaci que tantos años, a ejemplo de la Virgen María, sirvió silenciosa pero eficazmente en nuestra parroquia, silenciosamente se fue de nuestra parroquia y este virus silenciosamente cobró su vida. Así mismo sentimos mucho la pérdida de nuestra querida y fiel señora Marva Gaskin, de la misa de los sábados a las 5:30, Leonora Henry, Jocelyne Mills, Leonard Nwaolie del coro de la comunidad Igbo; de los que sabemos, a todos ellos paz en su tumba. Gracias a quienes han traído sus sobres de ofrenda y algunos folders de Cuaresma, a ellos nuestra gratitud por pensar en las necesidades que tenemos como parroquia, sean todos ustedes bienaventurados.

From the Desk of the Pastor... Del Escritorio Del Párroco... Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: "If you invoke as Father him who judges impartially according to each one’s works, conduct yourselves with reverence during the time of your sojourning." We are now experiencing what was previously unimaginable and that will in fact influence our social behavior and in our case, our community. As a Church, let us continue to follow the directives of our authorities. The world is as it is, and the difficulties are more noticeable in those who have little sense of social coexistence. There is no shortage of examples to illustrate this. Last Sunday the noise on the boulevard was so loud, caused by the passing by of a convoy of dozens of motorcyclists, thus confirming the continuation of socializing; they go about as if nothing happened and continue to pollute the environment which is in need of healing and purification as well as people’s consciences. Anyway, getting back to ourselves, the way we conduct group meetings, retreats and Mass celebrations will be different; what will be 'social distance' when we come to celebrate the Eucharist? In fact, we will no longer be able to receive the Blood of Christ. How long will we have to continue wearing masks and perhaps gloves? Each one’s behavior will determine community behavior and vice versa. Nothing will be as before. May this lock down time in our homes continue to prepare us to work together and to be open to the new arrangements that will occur not only in our Church but in our social environment. Filial love for our Heavenly Father will define and lead to new forms of coexistence without losing our spirit of community. During this difficult time, our faith has been tested and challenge; several of our parish families have lost loved ones because of this virus. Acceptance is the first step to understand these deaths. Our dear Sister Mary Crucifix Buttaci, who for many years, following the example of the Virgin Mary served silently but effectively in our parish, quietly left our parish and this virus quietly claimed her life. We are also very sorry for the loss of our dear and faithful Mrs. Marva Gaskin, from the Saturday 5:30 Mass, for Leonora Henry, Jocelyne Mills, Josephine Howell and Leonard Nwaolie of the Igbo community choir; these are the ones we know of. Peace to all who have died. Thank you to all of you who have returned offering envelopes and Lenten folders via mail or online giving; we are grateful to you for thinking about the needs that we have as a parish. Blessings to all of you.

Estas líneas las dedico a nuestra querida y amada Sister Mary Crucifix Buttaci

con todo mi cariño, respeto y admiración que se merece. Como ya sabemos ha Partido a la Gloria Eterna, se

ha convertido en un ángel que cuidara de todos sus seres queridos. “Mi querida Sister, te pido que busques a María Madre

de Jesucristo y le pidas que interceda por nosotros ante Dios Padre Todo poderoso para

que derrame su misericordia infinita al mundo”. Te lo pido porque sé que estas con ellos en el Paraiso, te lo mereces

porque en tu hermosa vida terrenal fuiste una Santa, digno ejemplo a seguir. Le doy infinitas gracias a Dios
