Prayers are powerful and important for those in our parish community who are ill or need our support. We ask you to help us keep the list current by renewing the prayer request weekly and by letting us know when the person has recovered. In an effort to ensure our prayer request list is up to date, at the end of each month we will remove anyone from the list for whom we do not have a current request. Thank you for your cooperation and your prayers for our parishioners in need.

COMMUNITY CATECHESIS Preparing the way of the Lord
Second Sunday of Advent Week of December 9, 2012
Listen to the Word (Luke 3:1 — 6)
As you hear this reading, what words or phrases strike you? What in this reading touches your heart? What lingers in your memory?
Look into your life Question for children: What things do you do to get ready for a big event or celebration? Question for youth: : How do you share the Good News of Jesus with others ? Question for adults: Name one thing you can do to help “prepare the way of the Lord.”
Activities for the week Take these activities to further reflect:
• Make a banner that reads: “Prepare the Way of the Lord.” Use poster paper and decorate the banner with crayons or markers. Ask each family member to share what he or she can do this week to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord.
• Discuss with your family what “rocks” need to be cleared from your family so you will be a more loving family, working together for the Lord.
• Take out family photos and symbols of your child’s baptism. Share stories of that special day.
• John the Baptist was a herald of the good news of the kingdom of God. Talk about the people and families who have been heralds of the good news for you. Send them a note to thank them for sharing who they are.

Good stewards believe that God,
who has begun this good work in
them, will carry it through to
completion. In words and deeds,
they can sing with the psalmist,
“The Lord has done great things for us; we are
filled with joy!”

MINISTRY FAIR COMING IN JANUARY
All of who I am is a gift from God, and all of who I am is meant to be surrendered back to God.
Everyone is important and everyone has something to give back to our parish and our communities, whether it is visiting the sick or reading at Mass. Our Lady of La-Salette belongs to you, and the growth and vitality of this parish depends on you. Don't limit your engagement in your par-ish to attendance at Sunday liturgy.
So, be sure to attend the Ministry Fair this coming January. Plan on sharing food and friendship with some of our current active minis-ters. What a great way to discover how you can use your time, talent and treasure in God’s work as he directed us to do!
Helping Others Serve Together
nuestros actuales ministros activos.
TO ALL MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Boys and Girls,
You are invited to be a special part of the 10:30 Christmas Day Liturgy. We will sing
some familiar hymns and carols and one or two new ones. If you play a musical instru-
ment such as trumpet, drums, flute... that would be great! If you think you don't really
sing well, you can ring bells! Everyone sings at Christmas time. We will need about 15 minutes of your
time after Mass, December 9, 16, and 23.
If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Lovejoy -- 770-591-7047 Thank you all... "Sing Ye Noel !!"

It’s the beginning of our annual Giving Tree gift collection. For many years, during the season of Advent, we have been sharing God’s love by reaching out to our neighbors in need. Each ornament on the Giving Tree expresses the need of a child in our com-munity. Please help us “undecorate” the Giving Tree by: • Taking one or more ornament tags • Buying & wrapping the gifts listed on the tags • Placing the wrapped gifts, with the ornament tag securely attached, beside the Giving Tree (in the Parish Center) no later than Dec. 16th. Your gifts will be distributed to grateful recipients in our area. Your support and generosity are appreciated.
