In an effort to ensure our prayer request list is up to date, at the end of each month we will remove anyone from the list for whom we do not have a current request. Thank you for your cooperation and your prayers for our parishioners in need.

In Need Of A Prayer? If you or a member of your family is in need of a prayer, or has been hospitalized or is homebound, please inform the parish staff. PACEM IN TERRIS (50th Anniversary)

But the mischief is often caused by erroneous opinions. Many people think

that the laws which govern man's relations with the State are the same as

those which regulate the blind, elemental forces of

the universe. But it is not so; the laws which gov-

ern men are quite different. The Father of the uni-

verse has inscribed them in man's nature, and that

is where we must look for them; there and no-

where else.

Jesus is God made flesh. (Emmanuel = God is with us!) Fourth Sunday of Advent Week of December 22, 2013

Listen to the Word (Matthew 1:18-24) What one word or thought in this reading really strikes you? What

overall sense of the Christian life do you get from this reading?

Look into your life Question for children: When you pray, how do you hear God’s voice in response? Question for youth: God speaks to us in our intuitions and imagi-nation, as he did to Joseph in this dream. What is your experience of hearing God speak in this way? What is God asking of you? Question for adults: What experiences do you have of God “speaking to you” and directing your life and work? How does God speak to you in prayer?

Activities for the week Take these activities to further reflect: A Christian tradition for this time of year is the Jesse Tree. Find a bare branch from a tree and put the branch in a planter using sand to help it stand up. Listed below are the names of members of Je-sus’ family tree, along with a Scripture reading for each. As a family, read the Scripture and make symbols using construction paper and markers to represent these prominent characters. Hang the symbols on the branch. Adam and Eve — Genesis 3:1-24, Abraham and Sarah — Genesis 12:1-13:18, Moses — Exodus 20:1-21, David — 1 Samuel 16:1-16, Mary — Luke 1:26-38, Joseph — Matthew 1:18-25, Jesus — Luke 2:1-20 . Take time to read together the Christmas story from Scripture or a children’s Bible. After the story, set out the family nativity, or draw a picture of the nativity scene. Discuss each character as you draw them or place them in the scene. Purchase material and supplies for a Christmas banner. As a family create a banner showing the true meaning of Christmas. When completed, hang the banner in a special place as a reminder during this busy week that the Messiah is truly among us. Go for an evening drive as a family and look at the Christmas lights in your community. Ask each family member to reflect on a time when he or she has known the light of God’s presence in his or her life.

Corresponsabilidad de acuerdo a la Biblia

22 Diciembre 2013

Santo!

Stewardship by the Bible

December 22, 2013

Fourth Sunday of Advent

When he discovered that Mary was with child, Joseph

resolved to end their engagement with as little disgrace

as possible. But obedient to the voice of God, he changed those plans and became instead the protector of

the child Jesus and his mother, Mary. God grant that I

may be as open to the leading of the Holy Spirit!

CHRISTMAS SECOND COLLECTION

The second collection on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will benefit Catholic Charities Atlanta, which has a 60 year legacy in Georgia of charity for our most needy brothers and sis-ters - a mission inspired by our Catholic faith. Many of their clients are members of the working poor who work several jobs to support their families. Many of these individuals are also facing a life crisis and are alone and frightened. Catholic Charities Atlanta staff help identify their prob-lems and provide them with the resources to put them on the path to self-sufficiency. Last year they served 20,000 individuals in need in metro Atlanta and north Georgia. Please give gener-ously where it truly counts. Help Catholic Charities to provide help and create hope for individuals and fami-lies in need in Georgia.

Do you have your parish on your Christmas gift list? Gifts of securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds) are some of the best gifts to make.

T he caregiver’s compass is a recurring element throughout the Stephen Ministry Training that defines the character of a Stephen

Minister. Stephen Ministers use the four points and center of the compass

to guide their caring ministry and chart their continuing growth as care-

givers who are compassionate, full of faith, skilled,

With Stephen Ministry Pastors don't carry the burden of being the congre-

CATHOLICS COMING HOME THIS CHRISTMAS CATHOLICS COMING HOME THIS CHRISTMAS CATHOLICS COMING HOME THIS CHRISTMAS CATHOLICS COMING HOME THIS CHRISTMAS Christmas is a time for coming home to be with people we love and have missed due to distance or fam-ily hurts. The story of the Prodigal Son always comes to mind. When someone who has been away for a long time comes back to the family there is great rejoicing. The same is true with the Church family. So when you come to church this Christmas and someone is sitting in your pew, do not be upset; in-stead, let us rejoice that others are coming to church. Let us not be irritated if we may have to get cozy to accommodate more people in the pews. Christmas is love, let us show that love to our fellow Catho-lics whether they are regular Mass attendees or just come on the Holy Days. The most important fact is that they are here. Their presence tells us that there is still a Catholic spark in their heart and we want to make that spark glow so that their hearts are once again on fire for the catholic faith. An evangelization program for Catholics Returning Home begins next Sunday. If you know of any Catholics who have been away from our faith, invite them back to the church. The weekend after the Solemnity of Christmas we would start sessions to reacquaint them with our Church, our faith, our God. Five informational sessions about Church teaching, traditions and the sacraments will be discussed. The first session starts Sunday, December 29th after the 8:00 am Mass. Look for Deacon Charlie Carig-nan after Mass.

Parking at Christmas As we remember and celebrate the Birth of the Messiah we pay attention to the beauty of the season, and yet we also have to consider some other mundane and practical matters such as parking. Please remember that in the next few days we will probably have a larger than usual number of people worshiping at Our Lady of La Salette; and we all know first hand that our parking situation is not ideal. Let us be mindful of that reality and let us become a little more consider-ate of one another. Let us allow our Christian values to shine as we come to worship in the next few days. If you are able please park as far away from the church as you can, so that others who are lest able than you are may park more closely to the entrance to the church. Remember that we can park on our rectory grounds across the street from the church and that if we do it in an organ-ized manner we can maximize the use of the parking space there.

Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas
