WELCOME TO LABADEE® Christopher Columbus was the first European to set foot on this spectacular peninsula of Hispaniola in 1492, when the Santa Maria ran aground off the coast on Christmas Day. Five centuries later, Royal Caribbean has transformed this secluded paradise into Labadee, a tropical retreat and playground, created exclusively for its guests. Behind the breezy island charm is a rich and colorful swashbuckling past. Nellie’s Beach is named for the Englishwoman who, legend has it, arrived at the time of the buccaneers and set up a trading post and tavern to serve visiting ships and their crews. The Old Bell Tower was erected to herald their arrival. Although the bell has been lost to history, the tower still stands today.
