And so, let the journey begin!
A huge thank you to the many parishioners who work tirelessly to make St Schols such an amazing parish. Special thanks go to:
Pat Ovens who is retiring from the Sacristan Ministry after many, many years of dedicated service. Thank you Pat, we will surely miss you! Peter Westwood who is retiring from the Music Ministry after many, many years of service too. Thank you Peter, you certainly made our work so much easier at the office preparing those PowerPoints!!! We will miss you too!
Christmas Eve 2015 - Thank you Many thanks to all the families and special parent helpers for our 2015 Nativity & Vigil Mass Celebration. There were about 50 children and readers who participated.
An extra special thank you to our 3 Costume Ladies who helped dress the children with their mothers, our Prop boys, the ushers & car park attendants, our sacristans, special ministers, altar servers and of course Brigitte & the choir. It was a very special evening celebrating the birth of our Lord.
For the first time, we had "TWINS" as Baby Jesus. Rose and Grace did a marvelous job and many thanks to their parents, Kate and David.
God Bless and many thanks to everyone in our community for this very memorable Christmas Eve! Be sure and have a look at the photos in the gathering area!

FIRE RISK DOESN’T END WITH THE HOLIDAY SEASON
With summer holidays drawing to a close, the end of the holidays doesn’t mean the fire risk is over. February and March are traditionally the hottest months in Victoria. The take home message is that just because many people’s holidays are ending, it doesn’t mean the fire risk has lessened. Victorians need to continue to stay alert to the risk of fires and be ready to act. Victorians are urged to continue to monitor Fire Danger Ratings, and know where to find and how to use warnings. These tools exist to help you make informed decisions about your safety. It’s up to each and every Victorian to understand how to use them while the fire risk remains.
Fire Danger Ratings:
• Fire Danger Ratings tell you how bad a fire would be if
one started. The higher the rating, the more dangerous the conditions
• This summer, you could be at serious risk of
uncontrollable fires on Code Red, Extreme and Severe days
Check Fire Danger Ratings daily at www.cfa.vic.gov.au
Warnings:
• Warnings are issued when a fire has started and you
need to take action. Make sure you understand the three levels of warnings and what they mean
• There are three different levels of warnings – Advice,
Watch and Act and Emergency Warning
To check warnings, go to emergency.vic.gov.au, download the FireReady App, check CFA's Facebook page and Twitter, listen to ABC radio, designated commercial radio stations, or Sky News TV, or ring the Victorian Bushfire Information Line on 1800 240 667
For information on how to stay safe this summer, visit emergency.vic.gov.au or ring the Victorian Bushfire Information Line on 1800 240 667, and download the FireReady app.
2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C - 16 January 2016
Entrance Antiphon
All the earth shall bow down before you, O God, and shall sing to you, shall sing to your name, O Most High!
First Reading: Isaiah 62:1-5
A reading from the prophet Isaiah
As the bridegroom rejoices in his bride, so will your God rejoice in you. About Zion I will not be silent, about Jerusalem I will not grow weary, until her integrity shines out like the dawn and her salvation flames like a torch.
The nations then will see your integrity, all the kings your glory, and you will be called by a new name, one which the mouth of the Lord will confer. You are to be a crown of splendour in the hand of the Lord, a princely diadem in the hand of your God; no longer are you to be named 'Forsaken,' nor your land 'Abandoned,' but you shall be called 'My Delight' and your land 'The Wedded'; for the Lord takes delight in you and your land will have its wedding.
Like a young man marrying a virgin, so will the one who built you wed you, and as the bridegroom rejoices in his bride, so will your God rejoice in you.
The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Psalm: Ps 95:1-3. 7-10
R. Proclaim his marvelous deeds to all the nations.
O sing a new song to the Lord, sing to the Lord all the earth. O sing to the Lord, bless his name. R.
Proclaim his help day by day, tell among the nations his glory
and his wonders among all the peoples. R.
Give the Lord, you families of peoples, give the Lord glory and power, give the Lord the glory of his name. R.
Worship the Lord in his temple. O earth, tremble before him. Proclaim to the nations: 'God is king.'
He will judge the peoples in fairness. R.
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11
A reading from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians
One and the same spirit distributes different gifts as he chooses.
There is a variety of gifts but always the same Spirit; there are all sorts of service to be done, but always to the same Lord; working in all sorts of different ways in different people, it is the same God who is working in all of them. The particular way in which the Spirit is given to each person is for a good purpose. One may have the gift of preaching with wisdom given him by the Spirit; another may have the gift of preaching instruction given him by the same Spirit; and another the gift of faith given by the same Spirit; another again the gift of healing, through this one Spirit; one, the power of miracles; another, prophecy; another the gift of recognising spirits; another the gift of tongues and another the ability to interpret them. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who distributes different gifts to different people just as he chooses.
The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Gospel Acclamation: cf 2 Thessalonians 2:14
Alleluia, alleluia! God has called us with the gospel to share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Alleluia!
Gospel: John 2:1-11
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John
The first of the signs given by Jesus was at Cana in Galilee.
There was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited. When they ran out of wine, since the wine provided for the wedding was all finished, the mother of Jesus said to him, 'They have no wine.' Jesus said, 'Woman, why turn to me? My hour has not come yet.' His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever he tells you.' There were six stone water jars standing there, meant for the ablutions that are customary among the Jews: each could hold twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, 'Fill the jars with water,' and they filled them to the brim. 'Draw some out now,' he told them, 'and take it to the steward.' They did this; the steward tasted the water, and it had turned into wine. Having no idea where it came from - only the servants who had drawn the water knew - the steward called the bridegroom and said, 'People generally serve the best wine first, and keep the cheaper sort till the guests have had plenty to drink; but you have kept the best wine till now.'
This was the first of the signs given by Jesus: it was given at Cana in Galilee. He let his glory be seen, and his disciples believed in him.
The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Communion Antiphon
We have come to know and to believe in the love that God has for us.
