COVID – 19 Event Safety Plan
The Alberni Valley Kennel Club welcomes back our exhibitors for our dog show on October 15-17 2021. Only
people who have filled out a waiver and show proof of at least one vaccination done two weeks before the
event date will be allowed to pick up their armbands and wristbands. Waivers will be emailed to exhibitors 72
hours before the show, you will receive a QR code/email as proof of a completed waiver. The show secretary
and club members will have a list of those people who have completed a waiver, but it may be advised to
have a printed copy, or electronic proof of waiver completion with you. Paper copies and a download QR
code will be available at the show grounds if necessary but please fill out the waiver before arriving.
Rules
This event will follow all recommendations by the PROVINCIAL HEALTH OFFICER of BC and may be subject to
change. Please keep advised of changes on our dog show Facebook page ( Alberni Valley Kennel Club)

These rules will be posted at all entrances.
• By order of the PHO, proof of vaccination will be required to all people born in 2009 or earlier (12+).
• Only people with wristbands will be allowed in the building or in the grooming area.
• All participants will use hand sanitizer when entering the building.
• Social distancing rules must always be followed except when a judge is examining your dog.
• Masks must be worn inside the building.
• Exhibitors are to arrive at ringside no earlier than 15 minutes before their dog will be shown and must leave the ringside area upon completion of judging or photos.
• Participants are permitted to bring crates in the building but must remove them after your dog has completed showing. Ensure adequate space for social distancing for all exhibitors. No crates, dogs or grooming equipment is allowed to be left in the building overnight
People refusing to comply with the safety plan will be asked to leave show grounds and will not receive a
refund for entries. Please have patience with all volunteers, as they are working hard to provide a safe and
fun environment. Abuse of volunteers and other exhibitors will not be tolerated.

4.1.5 No person may approach a judge either directly or otherwise, orally, in writing or
electronically, to favor his entry. Disciplinary action will be taken against any person who violates
this rule, or against a judge who fails to report any contravention of this rule to the CKC within 14
days of the action.
19.7 It shall be the duty and obligation of the show-giving club to see that a judge, club official,
volunteer or any participant at an event held under these rules is not subject to indignities. The
Conformation Show Committee Chair shall promptly report to the CKC any infringement of this
regulation, and the CKC shall have the authority to take such action as it deems fit on receipt of a
report indicating that this has occurred. A copy of this regulation shall be prominently placed in
every premium list and catalogue.

TCN fee (per show/per dog) $ 10.50. TCNs are replacing the current system of entering events with
dogs as “listed” and allow dogs to temporarily participate in CKC events while they pursue permanent
registration or an Event Registration Number (ERN). Effective March 2nd all owners of unregistered,
CKC-recognized breeds entering events are required to obtain a Temporary Competition
Number (TCN). TCN instructions.
THE PRECINCTS OF THESE SHOWS ARE ALL AREAS RESERVED for the Alberni Valley Kennel Club and include the Glenwood Center and the parking
lots on the Alberni District Fall Fairgrounds.
CONFORMATION CLASSES
The following Regular CKC Classes (divided by sex) will be offered JUNIOR PUPPY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog 6 months of age and under 9 months of age on the day of the show. SENIOR PUPPY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog 9 months of age and under 12 months of age on the day of the show. 12 to 18 MONTH CLASS – This class shall be for any dog 12 months of age and under 18 months of age on the day of the show. CANADIAN BRED CLASS - This class shall be for any dog born in Canada.(Champions of any country excluded). BRED BY EXHIBITOR CLASS - This class shall be for any dog owned and handled in the ring owner/breeder. The handler MUST be the owner/co- owner AND breeder/co-breeder of the dog. The owner/breeder must handle the dog at the class level, but need not handle the dog for further awards. OPEN CLASS - This class shall be for all dogs. SPECIALS ONLY CLASS - This class shall be for any dog which has a recorded CKC Registration or Event Registration Number and has attained the required points for Championship status. Note: A Listed dog MAY be moved to the Specials Only Class after the closing of entries, provided the CKC Individual or Event Registration Number was received prior to the first day of the show. The request to move a class dog to the Specials Only Class MUST be received by the Show Secretary ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE BREED JUDGING ON THE DAY CONCERNED. Listing Fees WILL NOT be refunded. If a dog is moved to Specials from the Junior Puppy Class exhibitors will lose their Junior Puppy discount. EXHIBITION ONLY - All dogs entered in this class shall be listed in the catalogue with the same particulars as dogs entered in regular competition. Dogs entered in this class MAY NOT COMPETE in any Regular class but may enter and compete in Non-Regular classes and/or Parades ONLY
NON-REGULAR CLASSES Any dog entered in a Non-Regular class MUST also be entered in a regular class or for Exhibition Only on the same day. BABY PUPPY CLASS- Dogs 4 months of age and under 6 months of age on the day of the show. The award for this class are: Best Baby Male and Best Baby Female, Best Baby Puppy in Breed, Best Baby Puppy in Group, Best Baby Puppy in Show. These classes will be judged immediately after Best of Breed of the regular classes.
UNOFFICIAL CLASSES
BEST DOG HANDLED BY A JUNIOR (Jenny Stewart Scholarship Award)- Eligibility for the Best Dog Handled by a Junior competition shall be limited to ONE dog handled by a junior (18 years old and under) at all levels of judging. Dogs entered in this class must be entered in an official class as well. The judge will pick the best dog (this is not a handling competition.) Participants in this unofficial class may enter one dog only. This class will be judged after the Baby Puppy class except at the Best in Show level where it will be judged after Best Puppy in Show.
The winner will receive a $500.00 scholarship. Winners will receive their scholarship money after submitting a receipt from an accredited post-secondary institution.

1. The Sweepstakes are open to all dogs. Baby Puppies: Male and Female (4mos. to under 6 mos.) Junior Puppies: Male and Female (6mos. to under 9 mos.); Senior Puppies: Male and Female (9 mos. to under 12 mos.); and Juvenile Puppies: Male and Female (12 mos. to 18 mos.) as of October 20, 2018

1. For the purpose of judging, the dogs will be divided by sex into the following classes: Junior Puppy, Senior Puppy and Juvenile.

Prizes Rosettes will be awarded to First in each Class and a ribbon will be awarded to Second to Fourth in each class.

All dogs handled by juniors must be entered in one of the regular classes, or for Exhibition only, on the day, but need not be owned by the junior or his/her family. Registration will be posted in the judging schedule. Junior Handlers with the exception of PeeWees, must apply to CKC Head Office on the appropriate form for a Junior Handling Number within 30 days of competing in their first Junior Handling event. Only complete entries accepted. The Alberni Valley Kennel Club offers rosettes for Best Overall Handler and first in each class. Ribbons for 2nd through 4th are offered. $500. 00 Jenny Stewart Scholarship Award will be given to the
Best Dog Shown by a Junior, Saturday. Eligibility for the Best Dog
Handled by a Junior competition shall be limited to ONE dog
handled by a junior (18 years old and under) at all levels of
judging. Dogs entered in this class must be entered in an official
class as well. The judge will pick the best dog, (this is not a
handling competition.) Winners will receive their scholarship
money after submitting a receipt from an accredited post-
secondary institution.

To determine the number of championship points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all the dogs in
competition which the dog defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards:
Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Opposite, Best of Breed. A dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or
ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for championship points. Further
Section 15.1.12{C} has been added and states the dog must: “have earned at least one 2-point win either at the
breed level or group level. “The system provides for additional points if a dog awarded winners also places in the
Group as listed below.

A class Dog awarded Best in Show at an all-breed championship show will be credited with five points
inclusive of any points earned at the breed or group level. In no case may a dog earn more than five (5)
points at a single show.
15.2 Grand Champion (GCh) (47-06-12)
15.2.1 The title of Grand Champion may only be earned after the completion of the CKC Conformation Championship.
15.2.2 Points for this title are only accumulated after the completion of the Conformation Championship and do not include the points earned in attaining the Conformation Championship.
15.2.3 To be awarded a Grand Champion title, a dog must attain a minimum of 20 points which must include a minimum of two wins of at least two points each. Points may be gained at breed, group or Best in Show/Specialty level. Only the highest points earned at a single show are carried forward.
a) Grand Champion Point System
Points towards the Grand Champion title, at breed level, and are awarded to the Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Select Dog and Select Bitch. Points are calculated based on the number of animals competing at the breed level for the Best of Breed winner and the number of similar-sex dogs competing for the other three (Best of Opposite, Select Dog, Select Bitch). The following schedule shall be employed in the determination of points awarded at breed level:

15.2.4 Grand Champion Bronze (GChB) The title of Grand Champion Bronze may only be earned after the completion of the CKC conformation title Grand Champion is attained.
(a) Points for this title are only accumulated after the completion of the Grand Championship, and do not include the points earned in attaining the Grand Championship.
(b) To be awarded a Grand Champion Bronze title, a dog must attain a minimum of 50 points, which must include a minimum of two wins of at least two (2) points each. Points must be gained at breed, group or Best In Show/Specialty level. Only the highest points earned at a single show are carried forward.
(c) Points accumulated prior to July 1, 2021 may be used to attain the GChB title, however, a minimum of five (5) points must be earned after July 1, 2021.
15.2.5 Grand Champion Silver (GChS) The title of Grand Champion Silver may only be earned after the completion of the CKC conformation title Grand Champion Bronze is attained.
(a) Points for this title are only accumulated after the completion of the Grand Champion Bronze is attained, and do not include the points earned in attaining the Grand Championship Bronze.
(b) To be awarded a Grand Champion Silver title, a dog must attain a minimum of 100 points, which must include a minimum of two wins of at least two (2) points each. Points must be gained at breed, group or Best In Show/ Specialty level. Only the highest points earned at a single show are carried forward.
15.2.6 Grand Champion Gold: (GChG) The title of Grand Champion Gold may only be earned after the completion of the CKC conformation title Grand Champion Silver is attained.
(a) Points for this title are only accumulated after the completion of the Grand Champion Silver is attained, and do not include the points earned in attaining the Grand Championship Silver.
(b) To be awarded a Grand Champion Gold title, a dog must attain a minimum of 200 points, which must include a minimum of two wins of at least two (2) points each. Points must be gained at breed, group or Best in Show/ Specialty level. Only the highest points earned at a single show are carried forward.
15.3 Grand Champion Excellent (GChEx) (48-06-12)
15.3.1 The title of Grand Champion Excellent may be granted only after the completion of the CKC Grand Championship Silver Title. Exhibitors will be required to submit to Shows & Trials the Grand Champion Excellent Record Sheet documenting the additional requirements. The Grand Champion Excellent Record Sheet Form is located on the CKC website.
15.3.2 To earn the title a dog must have earned the following during their career as a Special:
(a) one (1) Best in Show or a Best of Breed at a breed national specialty (where a minimum of 10 dogs have competed)
(b) three (3) Group 1st, or three (3) breed specialty best of breed wins.
(c) a CKC performance title from any CKC Event. Titles excluded are: CGN, Herding Novice Tested Certificate, all Instinct titles from all events, as well as all Sprinter titles and all Chase Ability Program titles.
15.3.3 Best in Show, Best of Breed at a National Specialty, 3 Group wins, or 3 Specialty Best of Breed wins, must be attained after the completion of a regular championship. The performance title may be attained at any time in the dog’s career.
1. Exhibitors are required to complete the Grand Champion Excellent Record Sheet form located on the CKC website
and forward to CKC upon completion of requirements above.
2. Grandfathering of the previous version of the Grand Champion Excellent title will be honoured up until July 1, 2022.
RULES GOVERNING THESE SHOWS AND TRIALS
1. THE CLUB RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANY PERSON FROM THE SHOW. THE
SHOW SUPERINTENDENT SHALL HAVE FULL CONTROL OF THESE SHOWS AND
TRIALS, WHICH WILL BE GOVERNED BY CKC RULES.
2. ANY DOG EXCUSED BY THE SHOW SUPERINTENDENT OR VETERINARIAN FOR ANY
REASON SHALL NOT, COMPETE IN ANY CLASS FOR ANY AWARDS FOR THE
BALANCE OF THE SHOW.
3. THE SHOW COMMITTEE WILL USE DUE CARE AND DILIGENCE FOR THE WELFARE
OF DOGS AND EXHIBITORS, BUT WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, OR ASSUME
ANY LIABILITY IN THE EVENT OF ACCIDENT OR MISFORTUNE TO EITHER DOGS,
EXHIBITORS, SPECTATORS OR VENDORS.
4. DOGS MUST BE ON THE GROUNDS 1 HOUR PRIOR TO THE JUDGING OF THEIR
BREED.
5. THE OWNER OF A DOG ENTERED IN THESE SHOWS IS ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE FOR
ANY ERROR IN ENTERING HIS/HER DOG REGARDLESS OF HOW OR BY WHOM
ENTRY WAS MADE.
6. EXHIBITORS AND HANDLERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR DOGS AND
EQUIPMENT LEFT AT THE SHOW GROUNDS.
7. OWNERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEANING UP AFTER THEIR DOGS.
8. ANYONE FOUND DISCHARGING WATER ON THE GROUNDS FROM THEIR
RECREATIONAL VEHICLE WILL BE REMOVED BY ORDER OF THE HEALTH
DEPARTMENT, AND MAY BE SUBJECT TO A FINE.
9. IF, BECAUSE OF CIVIL DISTURBANCE OR OTHER ACTS BEYOND THE CONTROL OF
THE CLUB, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN OR COMPLETE THE SHOW, THERE IS NO
REFUND OF ENTRY.
10. DOGS MUST BE ON LEASH AT ALL TIMES ON THE SHOW GROUNDS OR WITHIN
THE SHOW BUILDING

No dogs or grooming equipment allowed overnight in Glenwood; crates and equipment
are allowed in the building 15 minutes before you show and 15 minutes after to assure
enough space for social distancing.
Reserved Grooming
Reserved grooming will be available in a tent outside of Glenwood Center with shared power
available. Reservations are necessary, space will be limited, reserve early to guarantee a space.
Exhibitors may set up their own tents in a designated area, with no power supply for free. If you use
on-site power, you will be charged RV rates.
Leaving equipment will be at the participants own risk. No refunds under any circumstances; including
weather.

RV PARKING
No Power: $20. Per day/night. These parking spots are in the parking lot to the east side of the building. Reservation not required.
With Power: $40. Per day/night
All overnight vehicles parked behind the SECURITY FENCE will be charged this fee,
BRING YOUR OWN EXTENSION CORDS! LIMITED POWER AVAILABLE. This is not a secured area and all parking is at the owner's risk.
• All generators must be turned off between 11:00 pm and 6:00 am
• Anyone found discharging grey water on the grounds will be removed IMMEDIATELY.
• Please respect our parking volunteers as to their directions. Any argument, abusive language, or uncooperative behavior will not be tolerated and expulsion from the grounds will result, along with future barring of parking at AVKC events.
• Note: No refunds will be made for parking fees.
