Alfonso is an old farmer who has returned home to tend to his son, who is gravely ill. He rediscovers his old house, where the woman who was once his wife still lives, with his daughter-in-law and grandson. The landscape that awaits him resembles a wasteland. Vast sugar cane plantations surround the house, producing perpetual clouds of ash. 17 years after abandoning them, Alfonso tries to fit back in and save his family.

Paulina abandons her successful career as a lawyer in Buenos Aires to engage in social activism back in her homeland on the border between Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil. After two weeks working in a neighborhood scarred by marginalization, she is assaulted by a gang. Despite the brutality of the attack, instead of fleeing, Paulina resolves to hold tighter to her convictions - to survive, against the odds. PAULINA is a social thriller that explores the characters connected to an act of violence - the victims and the perpetrators - and examines how that violence triggers different ideas of justice.

Paulina gibt ihren Job als Anwältin in Buenos Aires auf, um sich in ihrer Heimatregion als Lehrerin zu engagieren. Nach nur zwei Wochen wird sie von einer Jugendgang überfallen und vergewaltigt. Sofia, a schoolteacher in the small industrial coastal town of Las Ventanas, and her husband Pedro are in the process of adopting a child when she reads about a dead newborn baby found in a dumpster. Obsessed with the fate of the child, whom she names Aurora, Sofia decides to adopt the infant to give her a proper burial. The law, however, won’t allow it but Sofia won’t give up. Based on a true story, “Aurora” is a beautiful and melancholic film about parenthood.

Sofia, eine Lehrerin aus dem kleinen Küstenort Las Ventanas, und ihr Ehemann Pedro sind gerade dabei ein Kind zu adoptieren, als sie liest, dass ein toter Säugling in einer Mülltonne aufgefunden worden ist. Durch das Schicksal des Mädchens angetrieben, das sie Aurora nennt, entschließt sich Sofia es zu adoptieren, um dem Kind zu einer angemessenen Beerdigung zu verhelfen. Die Justiz erlaubt dies nicht, aber Sofia gibt nicht auf. Basierend auf einer wahren Geschichte, ist Aurora ein schöner und melancholischer Film über die Mutterschaft.

Maria, a 13-year-old guerrilla soldier, is given a mission to complete along with three other soldier-kids: bring the commander’s newborn baby to safety in a neighboring town. But nobody knows the secret she is hiding: Maria is pregnant, and having a child is forbidden in the guerrilla. During the mission her secret is revealed and she runs away to avoid being forced to abort. Through Maria’s eyes we experience the devastating results of Colombia’s armed conflict: towns ravaged by massacres, peasants trapped in the cross-fire, parents who have lost their children, and kids trying to grow up normally amid the carnage. Thanks to a new instinct born inside her, Maria will find the strength to look for a new life.

Junior, as he’s known, since he’s essentially still a child, seems to be having a tough time getting on in life. He shares cheap lodgings with another fellow and earns money doing strenuous night shifts at a warehouse. It’s no surprise that he lives for football and desperately hangs onto the dream of perhaps every Brazilian kid - to become a famous player. Although he trains hard with his amateur team, he’s not one of the best. He won’t admit to the mounting jealousy he feels as he watches his talented friend doing extremely well on the pitch. What’s more, his prospects don’t look so rosy now that his young girlfriend Carine is pregnant, and he also has to deal with her dominant mother poking her nose in.

Junior, wie er bereits als Kind genannt wurde, hat ein schwieriges Leben. Er teilt seine einfache Unterkunft mit einem Freund und verdient sein Geld mit Nachtschichten in einer Lagerhalle. Daher ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass er sein Leben dem Fußball widmet und, wie fast jedes Kind in Brasilien, verzweifelt davon träumt ein großer Fußballspieler zu werden. Aber obwohl er mit seiner Mannschaft hart trainiert, gehört er nicht zu den Besten. Und auch die Eifersucht, die er spürt, wenn er seinem talentierten Freund beim Spielen zuschaut, steht ihm im Weg. Dazu kommt, dass er in keine rosarote Zukunft blicken kann: seine Freundin Carine ist schwanger und er muss sich mit seiner dominanten Mutter rumärgern, die nicht aufhört, sich in alles einzumischen.

Thousands flock to Buenos Aires’s La Salada, South America’s largest market. This poignant debut explores the vibrant locale through the stories of new immigrants and sheds light on the diverse immigrant community. Mr. Kim (Chang Sun Kim) operates a clothing stand and lives with his daughter Yun Jin (Yun Seon Kim), who is unhappy about her father’s selection of her future husband. Mr. Kim befriends and hires Bruno (Limbert Ticona), an illegal immigrant from Bolivia. And lonely Huang (Ignacio Huang) sells pirated DVDs while spending his nights calling home to Taiwan. Juán Martín Hsu depicts the immigrant experience with sensitivity, capturing the spirit of a fascinating subculture.

The remains of a male body who had presumably disappeared during the years of political violence in Peru have been exhumed but nobody claims them. Now the only clue to his identification is a picture of a smiling girl found in his shirt. Only a blurred photo, a snapshot of a moment in time and a memory. NN (Non Nomine) is the name under which bodies that can not be recognized or identified are classified.

Fidel leitet ein peruanisches Team, das die Massengräber des Landes aushebt. So sollen all die namenlosen Toten identifiziert und zur Ruhe gebracht werden, die im Konflikt zwischen der Regierung und den Guerillas des Leuchtenden Pfads ihr Leben ließen. In einem der Gräber liegt ein Skelett mehr als angenommen. Den einzigen Hinweis, um wen es sich dabei handeln könnte, liefert das Foto einer Frau in der zerfallenen Hemdtasche des Toten.

Displaced from the countryside due to violence, Blanca has recently moved to a rudimentary shelter on the Bogota border with her three grandsons. In the thick of his adolescent crisis, Didier, the elder of the three boys, is already drifting off towards an uncertain future. With the help of the ‘blessed souls’, Blanca fights to protect him from a distance, and watches over the two younger boys, John and Camilo, fearing that they too will stray.This is the story of a grandmother fighting for the future of her family: an age-old tale in a contemporary context.

Aus der Provinz geflohen wohnt Blanca nun mit ihren drei Enkeln an der Grenze zu Bogotá. In der Blüte seiner Pubertät entscheidet sich Didier, der Älteste, sie zu verlassen. Aus der Ferne versucht Blanca ihn zu beschützen und bittet die heiligen Seelen um Hilfe während sie zeitgleich ihre verstärkte Aufmerksamkeit auf Camilo und John legt, aus Angst sie würden ebenfalls weggehen.
