Since 2003, we have been helping students from around the world to achieve their language learning goals.

Manchester is one of the biggest and most cosmopolitan cities in the UK. It’s also one of the friendliest and

most accessible; students soon get to know their way around and start to feel at home.

The city has a lively student population, two big football clubs and lots of cultural sites. With galleries, theatres and museums, excellent sports facilities and some huge shopping centres, there is always something to see or do.

The cost of living in Manchester is less expensive than in London and if you want to visit other areas of the UK, you will find that Manchester is very well connected. London is just two hours away by train, and we’re also close to the Lake District National Park and historic cities like Liverpool, Chester and York.

General EnglishOur dynamic General English classes will develop your vocabulary and grammar, as well as your listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. They will prepare you for using English in real life situations.

IELTS PreparationStudying on an IELTS Preparation course will improve your language skills but will also prepare you for taking the exam; you will receive intensive support and develop your exam skills.

Trinity SELT PreparationExcel College is a listed Tirinty SELT course provider. We can help you prepare for Trinity GESE and ISE exams.

Cambridge Exam preparationYou can study for FCE and CAE in our Upper Intermediate and Advanced Classes, which will develop your English skills and help you to prepare for the exam.

Guided StudyOur Guided Study classes will help you to improve your study skills and become a more independent learner.

Academic Skills These classes can be added to any full time General English course. You will focus on improving your reading and writing skills, including emails, letters and essays, getting lots of feedback from your teacher. You will also improve your listening, speaking and pronunciation.

English for Specific PurposesIf you’re looking for a specific course, such as Business, Medical or Legal English, we have a variety of syllabus designs to choose from. We can also work with you to design a new course to perfectly match your requirements.

Part time EnglishIf you need a flexible timetable to fit around work or other study, you can enrol on a part time course of 6 or 9 hours per week.

Excel College’s homestay accommodation is great if you want to experience real life in the UK. All of our hosts

are native English speakers and come from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

They live in residential areas outside of the city centre. Some are families with children, some are single working people and some are retired couples. All of them prepare breakfast and evening meals for you and enjoy meeting students from around the world.

Student ServicesFriendly reception staff will help you with any questions you have about life in the UK. They can give you letters to open a bank account or register with a doctor, recommendations for where to get the best fish and chips and a sympathetic ear if you’re ever feeling homesick.

Social ActivitiesWe have a calendar of social activities every week which will help you to practise your English outside of class and make new friends. We have coffee mornings, conversation clubs, 5-a-side football, parties as well as cultural visits around the city.

Student library and multimedia roomYou will have access to our library of books and DVDs to borrow and take home. You can also do your homework or surf the internet in our multimedia room.

University Placement ServiceOur sister company UKEC helps international students with their applications to university. This service is free for Excel College students, so you can discuss university options and receive full support through the university application process.

Free Conversation ClubAll Excel College students can come to our Conversation Club for free! It’s an opportunity to meet other students and practise your speaking in a relaxed atmosphere, usually in different cafes around the city.

Airport TransferWe can organise a transfer to pick you up at the airport and take you to your accommodation so there’s no need to worry about getting lost when you first arrive.

VolunteeringIf you want to practise your English with native speakers and improve your CV, we can help you to find volunteer opportunities in the local community. This could be helping with administration at a community centre, working as a student mentor in a school or even planting trees at the local park.
