College & Career Your Resource Center

College Night at Liberty High School was

a HUGE success. Over 65 colleges and uni-versities attended. Workshops on SAT/ACT testing, College applications, NCAA Athletics and Financial Aid were also offered. Hun-dreds of district students and families attend-ed this very informative event. Food trucks were even available in the front of the school so families and vendors could grab a quick bite to eat for dinner.

Dear Liberty Community, We are proud to announce that Liberty has introduced the class Virtual Enterprise (VE) for our Business and Technology academy seniors. Virtual Enterprise presents students with the opportunity to partake in a virtually simulated business experience with over 900 other VE teams worldwide, in a $700 million dollar virtual economy. Students learn how different departments of a company work and how they all work together to form a successful corporation.

When class first began we broke into departments based on students’ interests and abilities.

Those who aspired to be executives faced an interview panel who reviewed their abilities to see if they would be the best fit as a department head. Today we have five departments: Technology and Graphics, Sales/Marketing, Accounting/Finance, Human Resources, Writing/Research, and Admin-istration. We voted to become a market and analysis newsletter company we named, The Courier. Our company will be providing other VE companies with valuable, timely information to help other compa-nies improve their sales. Currently we are preparing to apply for our seed money from the national cor-poration so we can launch our opening and begin marketing and managing our firm.

VE students will obtain a vast array of knowledge connected to all components necessary for a business to thrive. They will gain confidence in promoting our company and will learn how to be resili-ent if and when our company faces setbacks. Throughout the year, students and departments have a set of guidelines and lessons, created by corporate offices, which provide access and learning about every element that real businesses use daily. The goal of VE is to enlighten students on a vast array of business and personal finance concepts which will ultimately prepare them for life in the workforce and as future, real world consumers. Students earn a virtual paycheck, have a bank account, credit cards and must create and maintain a personal budget for a virtual life they create. Our advisor procured a $20,000 grant to make accommodations to our classroom. We received new tables and chairs plus a color printer creating the look and feel of offices rather than a classroom.

We will attend a region competition and tradeshow in January and, if we place among the top schools, we will be invited to compete in the international competition held in New York in April 2018. At these competitions, our administrative team will present our product and business plan, marketing strategies, website and other components of our company before business professionals. If you’d like to know more about this exciting class, please email Beth Decker, our advisor at

Press Release

The Public Art and Design Academy is a state funded program that allows stu-

dents to explore their artistic potential through educational field trips, public art

projects, and the building of an artistic family. Through PADA, we gain skills and

friendships that will last a lifetime. This year, our seniors will be painting new

ground by designing the first ground mural in PADA history. Thanks to the city of

Brentwood, we will be creating a mural to place on the amphitheater beside the

playground at Creekside Park. Our first meeting with the Brentwood Arts

Commission, which will determine whether or not we are ready to proceed with

development, was set for September 20th at 6:30 P.M. It was an open meeting,

many came to show support for the Arts! The Junior year of high school can be

awfully stressful for students since, by now, they are expected to have started

planning their life. For this reason, our junior PADA class will be starting the year

with a visit to Sonoma State University. Throughout the year, they will continue to

research colleges and explore possibilities for their future, all while continuing to

build their artistic skills. The PADA sophomores started the year off strong with

their annual building of PADA’s Homecoming float. The float consisted of flowers

that were made from recycled junkyard objects, as well as several Dr. Seuss

statues. Hope everyone enjoyed the Homecoming Parade!
