    Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to invite you to Dublin for our Annual Winter Irish Dental Hygienists Association Scientific Conference on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th November 2017.

Friday afternoon will be dedicated to workshops only. There will be 3 x 1 hour workshops that will each be repeated 3 times, and this allows delegates the chance to attend all 3 workshops and the trade area. Saturday will be dedicated to lectures only; it will also include our AGM for IDHA members only. Both

days will have a fantastic trade support.

As President of the IDHA, I have the great pleasure of working with the dedicated committee members who together have helped to produce a programme of lectures and workshops of our core cpd subjects and current topics. The Friday workshops are “Mindfulness for the Dental Hygienist”, An Ergonomics Workshop sponsored by Swordfish and A Medical Emergencies Workshop. Saturday hosts excellent speakers and current topics to interest us all.

The IDHA’s 30th year Anniversary conference theme is “Around the Mouth in 30 Ways,” A Programme of Protection and Prevention. With changes to the new dental act in the coming years, practising Dental Hygiene in Ireland will hold exciting changes in our careers in which to work and study. We are looking

forward to an update from the Dental Council on the Saturday.Friday Evening Entertainment, The Kin Dental Hygienist of the Year 2017 Award will be announced after the Friday workshops, then to add to the celebrations we will have a 30th birthday bash. We have a band, a buffet and drinks reception all planned. We are also extending the invitation to all members of the dental team. We have introduced a team rate for 4 delegates. This is a great way to network with peers and opportunity to catch-up with friends I’d like to personally thank Oral B for their support as main sponsor.

Please visit the large trade exhibition area. Bag lots of samples of all the latest and proven products and get your questions answered by on-site representatives.

At last year’s conference we supported ‘The Gavin Glynn’ through the charity raffle we raised

€261, this year all proceeds of our raffle will go to ‘The Jack and Jill Foundation’. On behalf of myself and the IDHA committee, thank you in advance for attending. It is an absolute pleasure to plan these meetings with our numbers of attendees continually increasing and also helping to maintain our professional standing within the dental community.

We look forward to meeting you all in Dublin 2017.

    Best regards,Donna Paton, RDHIDHA President.
