"I felt my call to ministry six years ago and the road since then has been
long and fruitful. This past May I graduated from Perkins School of
Theology and in July I will be starting my first appointment at Temple
UMC in Port Arthur, Texas. None of this would have been possible without
the financial support of the UM Dollars for Scholars Scholarship."

"My name is Luke Wodahl and I am a sophomore at Dakota Wesleyan University. I grew
up in Buffalo, Wyoming, in a small community of about five thousand people. Growing
up I had always wanted to attend a United Methodist university where I could grow
in my faith and play college baseball while furthering my education. This scholarship
has helped those goals become a reality, and I am forever grateful for the support that
you have provided me. I plan to pursue either a career in education or ministry after
college. "

It is with gratitude and joy that we celebrate your generosity on behalf of the United Methodist students who were awarded scholarships in 2016 through the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation.
Your commitment and generosity allow John Wesley’s passion for education and ministry to continue to be a mainstay of The UMC. We are grateful that you share in Wesley’s dedication to education and in UMHEF’s grand vision to make it economically possible for any qualified United Methodist student to attend a United Methodist-related institution of higher education.
Your contributions have given thousands of students the opportunity to prepare for their life’s vocation in a faith-based learning environment. Your loyal support has eased students’ financial burdens and kept them connected to The UMC during a critical time in their lives.
You have made it possible for students to discover how to deepen their relationship with God and fulfill God’s callings in their individual lives. Please take a moment to read the expressions of gratitude from a few of the students whose lives you are changing.
Most of all, thank you for supporting young leadership, the future of The UMC for years to come!

UMHEF is grateful to have Dr. Ken Yamada join the Board of Trustees. He comes to us with an exceptional career in higher education, having served as Associate General Secretary of the Division of Higher Education of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM).
He is a distinguished leader, playing a key role in the planning and development of Africa University. In 2001, the university named the Jokomo/Yamada Library in his honor. Dr. Yamada was also instrumental in expanding the services of GBHEM to international schools, colleges, universities, and seminaries. Yamada holds degrees from Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo, George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, and he earned a Ph.D. in higher education administration at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. We welcome Dr. Yamada’s vast knowledge and extensive experience to the board.

Please consider a gift todayto Help UM Students
