This weekend we will begin discussing more in depth our Capital Campaign “Renewed in the Light” which we hope will meet the needs of our St. Lucy Parish Com-munity and help us to grow in service and hospitality of our brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ.
Each week when we take our parish bulletin home with us, read the e-news or visit the parish website we can often skip over our mission statement for St. Lucy, at least I do, but the final sentence of our mission statement is very simple and direct…”We live our faith by welcoming and serving.”
As our parish building age “welcoming and serving” becomes a greater challenge for our parish community. It is now time for us to look at how our buildings are welcoming and serving the communi-ty. Seeing the need, we hope that you will prayerfully consider supporting your parish in the Capital Campaign.
The finance council and pastoral team assessed the total needs of the projects in our parish and have come up with a goal of $2.5 million. Our hope is to raise these funds over the next 3 years. With the help of each family, we can meet and exceed our goal. (Continued on page 2...)
Este fin de semana comenzaremos a discutir en profundi-dad nuestra Campaña de Capital "Renovado en la Luz" que esperamos satisfaga las necesidades de nuestra Co-munidad Parroquial y nos ayude a crecer en servicio y hospitalidad a nuestros hermanos en Jesucristo.
Cada semana cuando llevamos a casa nuestro boletín, leemos las noticias electrónicas o visitamos el sitio web de la parroquia, a menudo ignoramos nuestra declaración de la misión de Santa Lucia, al menos yo lo hago, pe-ro la última frase de nuestra declaración es muy simple y directa ... THESAINTS
Every chapter that the children learn from their catechetical books highlights the life of a Saint. The catechists also place special attention to teach about the Saints close to the Solemnity of All Saints Day on November 1st.
The Saints are role models and real heroes for our children. They are men and women who loved God so much that they were willing to do anything for Him, especially lead lives that pleased God. Through our baptism we are called to be saints too, by being good children to God, who is our father, and living our ordinary lives in extraordi-nary ways as followers of Jesus Christ.
Parents, please provide time and resources to encourage your children to read and learn about the lives of the Saints. You can easily find good webpages such as “A Saint A Day” (http://www.holyspiritinteractive.net/kids/saints) or give to your child a book on the Saints for his/her Birthday or Christ-mas.

The Thanksgiving Day Mass will be on November 23, 2017 at 9AM. You may bring food to be blessed during the mass. A Thanksgiving Prayer will be in-serted in the November 18-19, 2017 bulletin for families to use during their Thanksgiving meal.

THE ALTAR SOCIETY
The St Lucy Altar Society will meet on Thursday November 2nd. for Mass at 11:00am. On All Souls Day, we will pray for deceased members of the Altar Society and for our family members. Mass will be followed by our delicious soup and bread lunch in the PAC. Sandy Perry will talk to us about her expe-riences on her Mission trip to Nicaragua. You do not need to be a member of the Altar Society to join us for Mass and lunch. All are welcome. Come and meet some of your fellow parishioners.

Martha's Kitchen Benefit Concert
Martha's Kitchen is having a Benefit Concert hosted by Hunger at Home on 11/10/17 at the City National Civic in downtown San Jose. The Joe Sharino Band will be performing. This is part of their Farewell Tour because Joe Sharino is retiring after 45 years. The event will also feature 8 food stations and 15 bars throughout the theatre hall.
