The Church encourages us to make an act of “spiritual communion,” where we unite our-selves to God through prayer. It is a beautiful way to express to God our desire to be united with him when we are unable to complete that union in the reception of Holy Communion. The following prayer can be said while we view mass through online/television formats:

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the

Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all

things, and I desire to receive You into my

soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You

sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my

heart. I embrace You as if You were already there

and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me

to be separated from You. Amen.

La Iglesia nos anima a realizar un acto de "comunión espiritual", donde nos unimos a Dios a través de la oración. Dear St Colette Parishioners, The following are the latest updates in regards to COVID-19 and our worship:

All churches, including St. Colette Parish, will be closed until further notice. This includes the parish office.

There will be no public celebration of Mass thorigh Holy Week and Easter.

All parish events are to be cancelled/postponed through Easter.

In keeping with longstanding pastoral practice when penitents’ access to the sacrament is restricted, they can be assured that their sins are forgiven if they make an act of contrition with a firm resolve to ap-proach the Sacrament of Reconciliation after the stay-at-home order is lifted.

Funerals cannot be held but there may be a service at the funeral home limited to 10 people only.

Archdiocesan schools are closed until further notice. The Archidiocese is providing an online giving for-

mat for all parishes. Donor can choose which parish they want to support. (ST. COLETTE CURRENT-LY USES GIVE CENTRAL- if you consider online donation, please try GiveCentral first.) You may mail in your offertory as well.

FIVE SIMPLE WAYS TO CELEBRATE HOLY WEEK AT HOME

Create a simple prayer space in your home, and gather there to pray during the week. Palm Sunday: At your regular Mass time, read the first Palm Sunday Gospel (Mt 21:1–11) and meditate on or discuss what Jesus might be think-ing as he enters Jerusalem for the last time. Holy Thursday: Bake bread for shar ing at dinner; make a ritual of stripping the dinner table of all cloths and decorations after dinner. Good Friday: Pray the Stations of the Cross at 3 p.m. Holy Saturday: In the morning, read Psalm 64 and break your Good Friday fast solemnly with a simple meal. Easter Sunday: Dress up the dinner table again. Include candles and crosses, so that the candy baskets aren’t the only festive items present. Sing Alleluia and read the Easter Gospel (Matthew 28:1-10) with solemnity and joy. Look online for other suggestions for celebrating Holy Week at home, to deepen and enrich your experience at this time of social isolation.

HOLY WEEK AND THE PASCHAL TRIDUUM

“The days of Jesus’ life-giving death and glorious

resurrection are approaching, the hour he triumphed

over Satan’s pride, the time we celebrate the great

event of our redemption” (Preface of the Lord’s Pas-

sion II, Sacramentary). Thus the Church begins the

one week of the year that we formally designate as

“Holy.” Simple rituals can link the domestic church

to parish church and Church universal. Enthrone

Sunday’s palms or any other greenery where you

pray, behind the family crucifix, even as part of

front door decorations: “Christ reigns here,” they

proclaim; “all are welcome!” During the first three

days of Holy Week, ready Easter clothes, prepare

festal foods, clean the house, beautify the yard. Late

Holy Thursday afternoon, share Lent’s final meal

before the watching the Lord’s Supper Mass. Pitch-

er, bowl, and towel make a fitting centerpiece; per-

haps conclude the meal by washing each other’s

feet. On Good Friday, observe the paschal fast from

food—from TV and computer, too! Then come to

Holy Saturday’s Vigil (online or TV mass) with

mind clear, stomach empty, and heart full of “holy

anticipation” that bursts into living flame when the

new fire is kindled.

SEMANA SANTA Y EL TRIDUO PASCAL

"Se acercan los días de la muerte y la resurrección glo-

riosa de Jesús, la hora en que triunfó sobre el orgullo

de Satanás, el momento en que celebramos el gran

evento de nuestra redención" (Prefacio de la Pasión del

Señor II, Sacramental). Así, la Iglesia comienza la

semana del año que formalmente designamos como

"Santa". Los rituales simples pueden vincular la iglesia

doméstica con la iglesia parroquial y la Iglesia univer-

sal. Entronice las palmas del domingo o otra planta

verde donde reza, detrás del crucifijo familiar, incluso

como parte de las decoraciones de la puerta principal:

"Cristo reina aquí", proclaman; "¡todos son bien-

venidos!" Durante los primeros tres días de la Semana

Santa, prepare la ropa de Pascua, prepare comidas fes-

tivas, limpie la casa y embellezca el patio. A última

hora de la tarde del Jueves Santo, comparta la comida

final de la Cuaresma antes de la Misa de la Cena del

Señor en linea o television. La jarra, el tazón y la toalla

son un centro de mesa apropiado; quizás concluya la
