A national Garment Company (NGC)– Case Study
A national garment company (NGC) is an export-oriented company based in Jakarta, capital city of Indonesia. Its head office and other supporting offices are located in north Jakarta but its factory is located in Jakarta’s border zone, 8KM from the head office. The server is located in the head office and several clients are located in the factory. The farthest distance of its branch office is 12KM from the head office. The warehouse and 2 other supporting offices are independent from its head. There are several PC with LAN in the supporting offices and the warehouse.The Factory and the head office are connected via leased line 64kbps while data from supporting offices and warehouse is delivered to the head office every morning 08:00am. Internet connection is available only in the head office and it is not shared to other offices.
The factory is run 10hours a day 6days a week.Lately, they feel the bandwidth is not enough to cover the business process. Sometimes the connection is interrupted, particularly in the peak hours. Besides, the top level management expect to have a real time information across all offices. After series of discussion and brainstorming, the need of Real time manufacturing data, surveillance and voice communication are captured by IT manager and staffs.
Now it is time to play. The IT team is a very talented, creative and knowledgable team work. They are starting with mapping the existing system, translating the owner’s dream, discussing the technical, commercial and financial issues, making good strategy, designing architecture and determining reliable infrastructure.
You are in the team now. What will you do to create the reliable infrastructure?

Current Conditions:
1. Pabrik dan HO terkoneksi dengan internet dengan kecepatan 64 Kbps.2. Pengiriman data dari warehouse dan 2 supporting offices ke HO dilakukan tiap hari pada jam 8
pagi.3. Bandwith yang diperlukan oleh pabrik tidak cukup, sehingga koneksi sering terputus, apalagi
pada saat jam sibuk.4. Senior Management juga membutuhkan laporan yang real-time dari seluruh cabang, pabrik, dan
gudang.
Expectations:

Solutions:
1. Pembangunan Data Center pada HO dan DRC pada Warehouse.2. Konektivitas pada Data Center di HO adalah 1 Mbps.3. Koneksi Pabrik dan HO memakai MPLS dengan konektivitas dedicated 512 Kbps.4. Koneksi Warehouse dan HO memakai MPLS dengan konektivitas dedicated 256 Kbps.5. Koneksi cabang dengan HO memakai MPLS dengan konektivitas dedicated 256 Kbps.

6. Pembelian Software untuk Voice Communications.7. Pemasangan CCTV untuk Surveillance8. Pembelian software (ERP, CRM, SCM, HR, BI, Other Software & Licensing).
Design Data Center pada HO dan Data Recovery Center:
Arsitektur diatas menggambarkan dimana user (internet user, factory, warehouse, dan branches) bisa mengakses server melalui 3 jenis akses, yaitu: internet biasa, leased line dan wireless. Akses pertama akan melalui ISA WebServer yang diikuti oleh Firewall server dan Checkpoint Server. Baru dari ketiga server awal itu, user akan dibawa kepada server yang dituju.
