Training • Caunton have historically recruited trainees and apprentices

• In 2004 the Caunton Academy was opened to provide a designated area of work for apprentices which enabled us to increase the annual intake of apprentices.

• This decision was made to address the diminishing skills within our industry.

• 28% of total workforce are currently undergoing training & development

• 25% of the board of directors joined the company as apprentices

• Intake five new apprentices per annum – looking to increase this & offer opportunities to external companies/apprentices

• We host school visits at our works to educate youngsters in the construction of our built environment

• The grant enables Caunton to consider the business case to increase apprenticeship numbers.

• Caunton are also looking to offer other local engineering companies training opportunities.

• The grant enables Caunton to be an exemplar project to highlight employer good practice in relation to workforce and community skill development.
