Specific Objectives:

Students should be able to:

1. Define the term software.

2. State the two type main types of software, describing each; systems and

applications software.

3. Identify and explain the functions of the different types of Systems software

giving examples of each; operating system and utility software.

4. Identify and explain the functions of the different types of Application software:

general purpose, special purpose, custom written, integrated software.

Procedure:

Lesson 1: Objective 1, 2 & 3 Students will read from text, from which a discussion using guided discovery will

be used for clarification; Objective 1, 2 & 3(Operating system). Notes with additional information.

Lesson 2: Objective 3 cntd Students will read from text, from which a discussion using guided discovery will

be used for clarification; Objective 3(Operating system and utility software). Notes with additional information.

Lesson 3: STETHS 50th Anniversary CelebrationsLesson 4: Objective 4.

Students will read from text, from which a discussion using guided discovery will be used for clarification.
